Von der Existenz der sieben verschollenen Klaviersonaten Hob. XVI: 2a-e und g-h wissen wir lediglich durch Haydns Eintragungen ihrer Incipits im sogenannten Entwurf-Katalog. Entstanden sind die fraglichen sieben Sonaten nach derzeitigem Forschungsstand vermutlich in der Zeit zwischen 1766 und 1772. Die vom Haydn-Spezialisten Thomas Enselein erstellten Rekonstruktionen dieser sieben Sonaten sind sowohl in Einzelausgaben wie auch in einem Sammelband (E.D. 17600) erhältlich. Zur jeder Neufassung hat Enselein einen Werkstattbericht (deutsch/englisch) erstellt, in dem er sein Vorgehen bei der Rekonstruktion der einzelnen Sonate erläutert.

Composed in 1981, this work is a setting of a sequence from the Mass for the Feast of St Thomas, found in the missal of the Hereford use. The text is a conventional hymn of praise but it is distinguished by a lively and attractive rhythm, and as this rhythm would have been lost in translation, I have set it in the original Latin. The work is in the form of theme and variations and is characterised by a gradual crescendo throughout. It begins very quietly with solo timpani and then the choir sing the theme in unison, unaccompanied by flutes, bells, timpani and lower strings.

The Right of Your Senses is a set of nine songs for children's voices, solo soprano, and orchestra written for the National Children's Chorus, American Youth Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. The texts are primarily 17th-century, by Thomas Traherne and George Herbert, but two of them come from the 11th-century Enchiridion by Byrhtferth. The overarching theme is the story of creation, but not just the list of objects created: the texts deal with the emotional resonances of the sun, the sea, the air, and the moon with all their mysterious, bright, and dark potential. There is a recurring gesture in the strings, introduced at the very top: a simple descending pattern which binds many of the movements together, even when hidden in the more tumultuous sections. The first two movements are bright, whereas the middle three movements are violent and deal with the angrier natural elements. The seventh movement is the most abstract and playful, and here a direct nod to Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, with a fast three-part canon depicting the behavior of the atom. The eighth movement, Night, is the slowest, and depicts the night sky. The final movement is calm, and encourages us: Be faithful in a little, and you shall be master over much. The Evolution of Solo Jazz Piano is a study of solo piano styles developed by 24 of the most influential solo pianists from 1900 to the present. In order to clearly illustrate the specific contributions of the various pianists, Bill Dobbins composed a theme based on the well-known standard All of Me. By applying the stylistic approaches of the different pianists to the same theme, one becomes aware of the subtle yet evocative elements of each individual style. Common elements between Waller, Ellington, Tatum, Monk and Rowles, Tatum, Hines and Wilson, Smith and Ellington, Corea and Beirach etc., should make it clear that musical individuality is largely the result of the subconscious emphasis of some musical elements over others, rather than the self-conscious cultivation of originality for its own sake. Sir Edward Elgar was born in Worcester in 1857. Until the outstanding success of the 'Enigma' Variations in 1899, he was considered a 'provincial' composer - and a largely self taught one at that.In the earlier part of Elgar's career as a composer, he wrote several short pieces which became very popular indeed. Chanson de Matin is one such, the second of a pair (the other being Chanson de Nuit), which carried his name far and wide before his larger orchestra works appeared. It was published in several versions at once: for string orchestra, for small orchestra, for violin and piano and so on - so it is almost impossible to say, with any degree of certainty, which was theoriginal version. This arrangement makes a useful addition to the repertoire for piano.

Jacobi's cantatas are richly varied and they not too difficult to perform. Ward De Vleeschhouwer began his piano training at the E. Hullebroeck Academy in his hometown of Ghent, Belgium. After graduating from the Academy, he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Ghent, studying piano with Claude Coppens and Daan Vandewalle, composition with Luc Brewaeys and Frank Nuyts, and improvisation with Peter Vermeersch.
