Cello; Piano Six Hands; Viola; Violin (Score & Parts) SKU: HL.14043461 Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano Six Hands. Composed by Richard Reed Parry. Music Sales America. Classical, Contemporary. Softcover. Chester Music #CH83215. Published by Chester Music (HL.14043461). 9.5x14.25x0.122 inches. Richard Reed Parry 'S Heart And Breath Sextet For Piano Six-Hands, Violin, Viola And Violoncello. Heart And Breath Sextet Was Commissioned By The 2011 Musicnow Festival For Ymusic. ' This Piece Is Based Around The Idea Of Using The Widely Varying Internal Rhythms Of The Performers' Bodies As Performance Parameters. There Is No Actual Tempo Or Meter Built Into The Piece. The Breathing Rates Of The Players Are Used In Alternation With The Individualperformers' Heart Rates To Determine The Pace At Which All Of The Musical Material Is Played. This Requires That The Performers Generally Play Quietly And Delicately, So As To Be Able To Hear Their Heartbeats Adequately. This, In Combination With The Natural Variance Between The Different Heart Rates, Results In A Kind Of Delicate Musical Pointillism: Starts And Stops Which Are Somewhat Staggered, Parts Which Repeatedly Line Up And Fall Out Of Synch With Each Other, Different Individuals' Pulses Rising And Falling. The Piece Is Never Performed Exactly The Same Way Twice. In This Piece, The Pianists Wear Stethoscopes Positioned Over Their Hearts So That Each Can Follow His Or Her Own Heart Rate. Two Eighth Notes (Quavers) Correspond To The Two Sounds Of A Single Normal Heartbeat, And Performers Should Match As Closely As Possible The Staccato And Irregular Rhythm They Hear. The Strings Are Instructed To 'Play To Breath'; The Natural Cycle Of One Inhalation And One Exhalation, Or Vice Versa, Will Determine The Length Of The Bar (Two Quarter Notes/Crotchets) Without Any Attempt To Make It Metronomic. When One Instrument Is Designated The Leader, Their Breath Will Determine The Starts Of Phrases And The Procession From One Bar To The Next, Cuing Other Parts If Necessary. Carl Fischer Music #BPS127. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.BPS127). ISBN 9781491156209. UPC: 680160914746. 9 x 12 inches. Program Notes Elephant is, of course, inspired by the incredible mammals of the same name. Their column-like legs, long trunks, and massive presence will never cease to amaze; however, it's their trumpeting that makes them stand out as the instrumentalists of the animal kingdom! In this selection, an elephant's slow gate and general demeanor are represented by a methodical tempo and lumbering texture. Woodwinds will enjoy the opportunity to perform grace notes while Elephant also offers exposure to flams for young percussionists. At m. 33 the trumpets and horns recreate an elephant call after slipping brown paper bags, or lunch-bag mutes, over their bells (in their bells for horn players). For the trumpet players, the mutes can be enhanced with an additional balled-up piece of paper placed at the bottom of the bag prior to slipping it over the bell. Horns should ball up the bag itself and experiment with placement to create the most realistic tones without stopping the instrument. While specific pitches are noted, making the best elephant sounds should prioritized. Young students always look forward to experimenting with mutes, and this selection offers an inexpensive and creative way to do so at a young age. Note to the Conductor This piece can be used to introduce or reinforce the finer points of staccato playing. While many students know to play these notes short in length, they may need reminding that they should also be played lightly. This also may allow for opportunities in emphasizing contrasting articulation styles that are in this piece. Younger students will likely need a reasonable amount of practice in successfully using the lunch-bag mutes. Allowing additional rehearsal time for this is recommended. Orchestra Cello, Contrabass, Piano, Viola, Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3 - Grade 4 SKU: CF.CAS98 Composed by Bud Woodruff. SWS FS. Carl Fischer Concert String Orchestra Series. Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. 16+4+16+10+10+10+2+16 pages. Duration 2 minutes, 54 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #CAS98. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CAS98). ISBN 9781491146583. UPC: 680160904082. 9 x 12 inches. Key: G major. Composer Bud Woodruff takes his musical inspiration for Adventurer's Dream from a rooster named Wally. Mr. Woodruff turns this charming four-note crow into the main thematic material for this piece that is reminiscent of classic movie scores. The principal theme to this piece has an interesting history . We had a very young rooster named Wally . He had a quite rhythmic four-pitched crow, which was very unique and consistent . As he aged, his crow settled into pitches and the opening melodic figure of this piece is the very pitches and rhythm of Wally’s crow . However, Wally had a touch of a glissando between the last two pitches, which I chose to eliminate, for musicality’s sake . Wally's crow is spun out in different ways and used one way or another in all the sections of the piece . Wally was a very energetic, if not egotistical, young bird, and the piece should be performed accordingly, in a dashing, swashbuckling, heroic style, which Wally would appreciate greatly and agree that it was very appropriate!Rehearsal suggestions:The most difficult thing to accomplish in this work will be deciding if you want the repeated eight-note figure on the string or off the string . I don’t care as long as it sounds staccato . On the string, it needs to be played at or by the camber point; off the string, that point will change depending upon your tempo, but the stroke itself should remain consistent .Although the basses never have the melody, they are a critically important section and can make or break this piece . Their part counters the others and fills in rhythmic gaps in a number of places . It needs to be played aggressively and metronomically; they are the glue that makes the piece work . The cellos need to sing for all they are worth at m . 63 and do so with joy in their hands . Their theme needs to be very lyrical and smooth . The countermelody at m . 79 should be understated, yet not buried while being intertwined with the cellos’ theme . It harkens back to the main theme and needs a dreamy quality to it .The piece was written as a string orchestra piece . The optional harp part was added later and is not necessary for an effective performance of the piece . However, it does add some extra variety and color to the piece, and reinforces the basses when they fill in those rhythmic gaps to which I referred earlier .A very special thanks goes to harpist Jane Minnis for the great and insightful suggestions for this part .Thank you for playing this piece . I trust you will enjoy it as much as I do . About Carl Fischer Concert String Orchestra Series This series of pieces (Grade 3 and higher) is designed for advancing ensembles. Compassion As the title suggests, this piece should be played with warmth, the middle departure showing a little more anxiety before a return to the optimism of the opening theme. Apart from this there is no formal structure. There should be a marked contrast between the flowing, lyrical passages of the opening section and the crisp staccato in the middle descending arpeggios. Although the tempo indicates quickness, the feel should be one of animation rather than pace. The dynamic range is not great but should be accurately observed with clear contrasts. Tenderness This piece, written in the middle to high register, has a simple structure being a stable melody with variations and ornaments remaining in the key of C major. Where the piano accompaniment has the theme it should be allowed to show through. As the title suggests this should be played with a gentle lilt but not over sentimental.. Aim for a warm to mellow texture with comforting sounds. There is a general but slight crescendo throughout the piece. Mercy Much more of a duet for flute and piano rather than a solo. This has a yearning, minor aspect with a contrasting few bars of a more comfortable major feel at the end of the middle section. The lively tempo should be driven through the whole piece with only a slight let up in the final two measures. Although written in waltz time, this is no dance being loaded with underlying energy and emotion. The dynamics remain fairly loud with only the expected variation in line with the phrasing. $19.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

| 100 Ultimate Soul, Funk and Rock Clavinet Riffs - Intermediate ADG Productions
Piano/Keyboards - Intermediate SKU: AD.ADG209 Composed by Andrew D. Gordo...(+)
Piano/Keyboards - Intermediate SKU: AD.ADG209 Composed by Andrew D. Gordon. Funk, Rock. Book & digital audio. ADG Productions #ADG209. Published by ADG Productions (AD.ADG209). ISBN 9781970178456. UPC: 663389120921. 9 x 12 inches. As so many keyboards and virtual instruments emulate clavinet keyboard sounds I thought it would be of interest to many keyboard players to write a book containing riffs associated with playing the clavinet, usually featured in Funk, Soul and Rock, Jazz-Funk-Fusion and Reggae styles. The Clavinet The clavinet is a 5 octave keyboard manufactured by Hohner from the 1960’s to the 1980’s and its bright staccato sound has been used extensively in the above mentioned styles. The clavinet is often used with wah-wah and phaser effects giving unique sounds reminiscent of how a rhythm guitarist would play. Playing the clavinet is generally different than playing the piano or organ. Usually you are playing very staccato parts similar to how a guitarist would pick a string on the guitar. The left and right hand often play separate syncopated parts that require extensive practice. My suggestion would be to clap or tap the rhythm of both left and right hand. Once the rhythm is mastered go on to play the left and right hand parts separately at a slow tempo and gradually speeding it up to the recommended tempo. I have created a youtube video showing you the steps that I recommend for learning these riffs. https://youtu.be/8tLdPhnA0ng
Each of the 100 riffs has been recorded 3 times:Clavinet with rhythm backing tracks, Rhythm backing tracks, Rhythm backing tracks at a slow tempo. $24.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
