Chamber Music Piano SKU: PR.510079380 Grosses Konzertstück über ...(+)
Chamber Music Piano SKU: PR.510079380 Grosses Konzertstück über Mendelssohns Lieder ohne Worte and Franz Schuberts Grosse Fantasie. Composed by Franz Liszt Felix Mendelssohn. Collection - Full. Editio Musica Budapest #510-07938. Published by Editio Musica Budapest (PR.510079380). Composed in 1834, Liszt's Grand duo is based on material from three pieces from the first book (op. 19b) of Mendelssohn's Songs without Words (no. 1 in E major, no. 6 in G minor, and no. 3 in A major). While Liszt made an almost literal transcription of the first piece, he gave the second and third pieces a much freer arrangement, in the style of concert paraphrases. The large-scale concert piece was premiered by Liszt and Chopin on Christmas Day 1834 in a salon in Paris. The Grand duo was not published in Liszt's lifetime, and has survived as a draft.Schubert's Fantasy in C major (also known as the Wanderer Fantasy) was a defining musical experience for the young Liszt. He arranged this masterpiece of Romantic piano literature for piano and orchestra in 1851, at the beginning of his Weimar period, and it was premiered by Julius Egghard in Vienna in December of that year. By 1855, Liszt had transcribed this arrangement for two pianos, because it was played on 22 October 1855 at a concert held in Weimar in honour of his birthday. With the version for piano and orchestra, Liszt attuned the fantasy to the requirements of the concert hall, reinforcing the orchestral effects inherent in Schubert's composition. His aim with the two-piano version was to achieve a similarly grand effect in spaces too small for an orchestra. The arrangement for piano and orchestra appeared in print in 1857, followed by the two-piano version in 1862.This volume comes complete with a detailed preface in English, German, and Hungarian containing new research findings, several manuscript facsimiles, and a critical report in English. $187.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

He initially found employment as an oboist in pit orchestras in New York City, later as an arranger of popular music for various ensembles, including those by William C. Handy, James P. He is credited as the first African-American to conduct a major orchestra (the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra), the first to have an opera performed by a major company (Troubled Island by the New York City Opera in 1949), and one of the first composers to write for radio, films and television. So numerous were his awards and accolades, including three Guggenheim Fellowships and a variety of honorary doctorates, that he was designated as the aDean of Afro-American Composers.a Still composed his Serenade for Orchestra in 1957 on a commission by the Great Falls High School in Great Falls, Montana. He later transcribed the work for a chamber ensemble of flute, clarinet, harp and strings. The piece reflects Stillas interest in American folk idioms, with conventional melodies and harmonies that nonetheless express a fresh and individual compositional voice. The Hildegard von Bingen text, translated by Wilson Hall (deceased professor of English at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia and dear friend), is a text that fosters many opportunities to depict the mysterious nature of God, His transcendence into all the human experience, and the hope, through vulnerability, that resonates in the gravamen for individual transubstantiation through the struggles inherent in Life's Stuff. This composition celebrates the transforming power of spirituality, the evolution of the human spirit when one amalgamates with unknowing, and the ecstasy that saturates Life when one acknowledges the God Presence already within.  . Soprano voice, SATB chorus divisi, Organ - Grade 4 SKU: CA.2741045 Arrangement for soloists, choir and organ (arr. M. Popp). Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by Marius Popp. Gattungen vokal: Sacred vocal music. Full Score. WAB 38. Duration 9 minutes. Carus Verlag #2741045. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2741045). ISBN 9790007300029. Key: C major. German/English. Bruckner described his setting of Psalm 150 (1892) as “my best festive cantata of allâ€. With its monumental Halleluja theme and the great fugue on “Alles, was Odem hat, lobe den Herrnâ€, the psalm setting has a pronounced festive character.
For this edition, Marius Popp has transcribed the orchestral writing for organ. Originally scored for large orchestra and large choir, this festive cantata can now also be performed by smaller choral forces in a sacred space. The fascinating combination of filigree motifs, powerful passages and chromatically bold complexities are expressed in a completely new way in this arrangement. An exciting setting of one of the most popular psalms for more experienced choirs to perform in festive church services or concerts.
The vocal and choral scores from the original version (also available as Carus 27.410/00) can be used with the organ version. . Score available separately - see item CA.2741000. $35.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

ISBN 825890977. Transcribed by Christopher Buchanan.
Giovanni Gabrieli (c. 1555-1612), perhaps best known for his many published motets and instrumental canzoni, spent the majority of his career as organist at Venice's Basilica San Marco. Sonata XVIII survives in the 1615 print Canzoni et Sonate (RISM G88), compiled and edited posthumously by a Father P. Thaddeo, Gabrieli's confessor (likely assisted by Alvise Grani, who is credited with the same for Symphoniae Sacrae II). The work is scored for 3 choirs, with rubrics indicating the use of 4 cornetti and 10 tromboni. The present edition is based on a copy of RISM G88 located in the Staatsbibliothek Augsburg. All notes and accidentals are true to the print; ficta and optional ornamentation based on the treatises of Bassano and Dalla Casa are located above the staff. Substitute parts are available in PDF form from the publisher by request.

Hodie Christus Natus Est by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) is an extremely popular Renaissance a cappella choral work that has been transcribed for string orchestra. Although the work is usually associated with the Christmas season, it is a timeless piece that can be programmed at any time during the school year. The string parts mirror the voice parts, but are in the more comfortable key of G major, rather than the original B≤ major. String teachers may want to consult with their choral counterparts to determine if combining their groups might provide a unique experience for all of their students. All the string parts remain in first position. The work contains the less common alternating meters of ëand ò, and will provide students with insight into the unique rhythmic style of the Renaissance period. A piano part is included for rehearsal purposes.Performance suggestions: By listening to a recording of the original vocal performance and focusing on the lyrics, students will understand where to use a connected legato bowing style for running eighth-note passages and for the longer note durations, as expressed in the lyric “Ho-di-e, Ho-di-e†that alternates with a light detached style “No-e, No –e, No-e.†A most recent YouTube link is suggested here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2rAkZE5UU0. Thanks to Stefano Grondona, this unknown and unedited transcription by Tárrega in G major of Albéniz' Cádiz, known widely as the Célebre Serenata Española has just been identified in a manuscript copied by Miguel Llobet, probably while he was still Tárrega's pupil. This beautiful and subtle transcription is not overcomplicated to play, Tárrega did not try to do everything, as some later transcribers have attempted to do. The melody sings and the accompaniment is subtly always there. The tuning with 5th string to G, and 6th to D, is no hindrance - on the contrary it is a boon. For Violin and Piano Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Violin/Piano) SKU: HL.97847...(+)
For Violin and Piano Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Violin/Piano) SKU: HL.978474 Arranged by Endre Granat. LKM Music. Classical, General Worship, Sacred. Softcover. Lauren Keiser Music Publishing #S511046. Published by Lauren Keiser Music Publishing (HL.978474). ISBN 9781638871361. UPC: 196288090922. 9.0x12.0x0.102 inches. This one of a kind album pairs two of the most performed Ave Maria's for violin and piano, meticulously edited by Jascha Heifetz' protege, Endre Granat. The first of these is Schubert's melody, which was originally composed as a setting of a song from Walter Scott's popular narrative poem The Lady of the Lake, titled, “Ellen's Third Song” (Ellens dritter Gesang). The opening words and refrain of Ellen's song, namely “Ave Maria” (Latin for “Hail Mary”), may have led to the idea of adapting Schubert's melody as a setting for the full text of the traditional Roman Catholic prayer. The Latin version of the song is now so frequently used with Schubert's melody that it has led to the misconception that he originally wrote the melody as a setting for the “Ave Maria.” The second Ave Maria in this collection was created when Gounod famously improvised the melody over the background of J.S. Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from The Well-Tempered Clavier. Gounod's beatiful improvisation was transcribed by his future father-in-law Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume Zimmermann, which was published with the Bach keyboard accompaniment in 1835 under the title “Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach.” Alongside Schubert's version, the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria has become a fixture at funerals, wedding masses, and quinceañeras. Both works have been recorded hundreds of times during the twentieth century. $12.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

This edition of the Twelve Duets for Two Violins by Mozart is based on the 1798 edition by J.André in Offenbach and the 1800 edition by Artaria & Co. in Vienna. These duets are masterful adaptations of Mozart's original settings; (piano sonatas, violin - piano duets, a string quartet and the Clarinet Trio). Unfortunately, the identities of these eighteenth century transcribers are unknown. Judging by their expert handling of the original material, they belonged to Mozart's inner circle and most likely were his disciples. While maintaining Mozarts original phrasing, this edition includes contemporary bowings and fngerings. Included in Volume 3: 7. Duet for Two Violins in E flat Major K 380; 8. Duet for Two Violins in G Major K 564; 9. Duet for Two Violins in C Major K 548. $54.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Carl Strommen has set and expanded this delightful piano piece to showcase the full resources of the string orchestra. It also contains a nice B section that shifts to a minor key for added interest. Among his notable works are oratorios (The Ascension, being the most well known), a series of serious and comic operas, chamber and keyboard music. Originally one of Hook’s piano pieces, Sonatina is transcribed here for strings.Sonatina should be played as marked on the original keyboard version: “Giocoso†( lightly, humorously). The minor section at m. 25 may be played a bit “darker†but should return to “Giocoso†at m. 41. An optional violin 1 solo is offered at m. 34. Arranged by Michael Brand. Band Music. Pioneer Band Series. Score only. Duration 2:15. Published by G & M Brand Music Publishers (CN.S11271). Touted as Britain's second national anthem, this stately tune by C. Hubert H. Parry transcribes beautifully for wind band and would be perfect for concert or festival settings.
By the late 19th century Charles Hubert Parry was probably the most influential figure in English music. His works were performed at all the major festivals and as Director of the Royal College of Music, London, he founded a tradition of teaching form which many of the finest British composers benefitted. Much of his music nowadays in scarcely performed but some works have retained their popularity and none more than his setting of Blake's Jerusalem, published in 1916 and instantly taken up as an anthem during the First World War. Today it rivals Land of Hope and Glory in expressing the spirit of England in music. $13.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
