This saxophone method is suitable for lessons and self-study and is aimed at young people and adults who want to learn to play the saxophone with fun and success. This is why this established method focuses on well-known songs - long-winded explanations and dry exercises are avoided. All subject matters have been wrapped up in attractive songs and pieces which sound like real music right from the beginning thanks to the live recorded playback tracks. Thus, exercising is fun. Another successful instrumental method in the well-known 'Hobby' series. Dirko Juchem has made a name for himself as a saxophonist, saxophone teacher and specialist author on both a national and international level for many years. His saxophone sound and wide range of styles are well in demand: He has played with well-known German and international artists such as Rolf Zuckowski, Barbara Dennerlein, Thomas Anders, Anne Haigis, Harald Juhnke, Pe Werner, Sara K. as well as with musicians of Jethro Tull, Jazz-Kantine or the Mike Oldfield Band. Apart from numerous concerts and productions with other artists and bands, he performs again and again with his own programmes - solo, as a duo or with an entire band. Up to now, he has performed in more than 100 CD and LP productions, and his tours have taken him as far as Los Angeles and Taiwan.Having taught at various music schools as a saxophone teacher and held lectures at the Bundesakademie Remscheid as a guest lecturer, he knows the problems of saxophonists from first-hand experience. In addition, Dirko Juchem is the author of numerous textbooks and tune books for the saxophone as well as a specialist author of articles for musicians' journals ('Sonic', 'Sound Check', 'Fachblatt Musikmagazin').

Mount Vernon Square derives its title from the location of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. It was here that the composer Joseph Compello took his first classes in Music Theory from Professor Haven Hensler, to whom this march is dedicated. After hearing this march performed on piano as part of final exam requirements in a Music Theory course, Professor Hensler encouraged further exploration of music composition, leading Compello into a prolific career writing pieces like this theme, now years later arranged for full band as a concert march. Performance Notes The form of the march is a standard A-BB-Trio-C-A. Melodically, much of the march is based on the figure contained in mm. 8 and 9. Tempo, articulation, and dynamics in a standard march style are essential to a successful interpretation. Pay particular attention to dynamics in the second strain at m. 41. Strive for a legato diminuendo at the transition in mm. 63-65. The melody in the Trio (m. 70) will also require smooth articulation from low brass and woodwinds. The Euphonium counter-melody will be played only during the repeat of the Trio. The Breakup Strain (m. 87) is, of course, powerfully marcato as is the reprise of the first theme at m. 109.Mount Vernon Square derives its title from the location of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. The range and pitch of the parts enable the works to be performed on any required or possible combination of the given instruments. With its opportunities for a wealth of instruments the volume of trios for intermediate studentsprovides joyful playing for a great variety of instrumentalists. The broad range of movements that can be played in numerous combinations of string, wind and percussion instruments spans from a Renaissance hit (Nola: Chi la gagliarda) through a cycle assembled from dance movements (Gavotte, Menuett, Bourrée, Passepied) of J. S. Bach's suites and classical favourites (Mozart and Beethoven) to 19th-century arrangements. This volume is recommended for more experienced music students and amateur instrumental players due to the range and pitch, as well as the degree of difficulty.
