As its very general title indicates, the publishers' intention is that the volumes in this series, which is designed specifically for music school students, will include works composed for chamber ensembles of every kind, from the trio to the sextet. The first two volumes contain mostly transcriptions for three and four flutes respectively, selected from every period of music history from the late Renaissance to the present day. This publication is printed on high-quality, age-resistant paper that is produced in an environmentally-friendly, climate-neutral manner using renewable raw materials.Unter dem Titel ‚Musica da camera' bringt Editio Musica Budapest eine neue Serie auf den Weg. Third version, first performed around 1747 in Leipzig. First version available under 35.304/00. The St. Mark Passion, which probably originated in the first decade of the 18th century, by a composer known until now only as Kaiser, is only preserved in various copies. It occupies a prominent place in Bach's music library as the only music for Passion by another composer which he performed several times, usually in different forms. For the young Bach in Weimar this St. Mark Passion was a didactic piece for learning the art of the modern narrative recitative; as the Leipzig Thomaskantor he also performed it (1726). The present edition reconstructs the third version, first performed in Leipzig (1747), in which Bach inserted seven arias from Handel's famous Brockes-Passion. Only in this pasticcio did a direct encounter occur between him and his famous compatriot in London, a real encounter which Bach longed for, but which never came about. Score available separately - see item CA.3550200.

Following in the footsteps of Ceremonial March, Mercury, Arsenal and Minerva, Helios is a concert march in the tradition of grand English marches. In the first passage several connected themes are developed in a combination of contrasting nuances. The melodic line of the trio is long and expressive; a characteristic found in all Jan Van der Roost’s marches. Helios represents the ideal combination of rich thematic material with a traditional harmonic structure.

The present edition of the trio sonatas by Johann Ludwig Krebs (1713-1780) is based on pp. 113-158 of a contemporary copy of the trio sonata collection which is held in the Sachsische Landesbibliothek, Dresden, shelf-mark Mus. 1-Q-1. The common title at the beginning of the first trio reads: Sechs Trio a 2 Flauti e Basso. In spite of the consistent indication of instrument in the source the music material of the second flute part suggests an alternative use of instruments. Apart from the characteristic string turns occurring in some places mention should be made of the range of voice up to g of the first trio sonata if the/in first place and particulary of the consistently applied double stops of the second melodic instrument in the first movement of piece No. 6. Territorial restrictions may apply. Please ask before ordering.

Luca Marenzio’s Leggiadre ninfe comes from a collection of madrigals entitled Il trionfo di Dori. Each madrigal is scored for six voices and each ends with the text Viva la bella Dori (Long live fair Dori). This late sixteenth-century collection of madrigals enjoyed great success and was the model of the famous English collection of madrigals entitled, The Triumphes of Oriana. The GIA Historical Music Series edited by Dennis Shrock, presents repertoire suitable for performance by public school, college and university, church, and community ensembles, with the purpose of making available to today’s conductors lesser-known and previously difficult-to-procure historical masterpieces. The music, drawn from the Renaissance through the Romantic eras, is in performance editions based on the most current and rigorous scholarly research. The musical scores reflect original intent of notation, with all editorial markings and emendations clearly identified as such. In addition, preface material accompanying the music contains literal translations of foreign language texts and information regarding the lives of the composers, genres, and relevant performance practices. Dennis Shrock is Director of Choral Activities at Texas Christian University. He has been called one of the top choral scholars in the United States and has received a number of awards for his work. He received a bachelor's degree in music education from Westminster Choir College and both master's and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from Indiana University. .

This arrangement expands the repertoire for horn trio and in particular provides a companion work to Brahms's Horn Trio in E flat major, Op. 40. Sopranos will find it an inviting addition to their recital repertoire, and the inclusion of an alternative part for cello in place of horn extends the work's availability to piano trios. The available versions of Strauss's Four Last Songs hitherto comprise the original, for soprano and orchestra, and the reduction for soprano and piano by Max Wolff. For this new arrangement, the use of the violin and horn seemed natural, not least with respect to the soloistic nature of the principal parts in the orchestral score. This combination allows the arrangement to be faithful to the depth and complexity of the original whilst emphasising the intimacy afforded by chamber music.
