All-Night Vigil (Vespers) is a setting of music for a night-long service on the eves of Russian Orthodox holy days, and became one of Rachmaninoff's favorite compositions. Basing the 15 movements of his choral setting on a combination of traditional Russian Orthodox chants, Latin hymns, and original chants by the composer, the work was completed in less than two weeks in 1915. This arrangement utilizes the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 10th, and 12th movements, along with the traditional Amens at the beginning of Movements 1 and 2. Unlike other settings of choral works for wind ensemble, this arrangement is constructed as a complete suite that is intended to allow the performers and audience to experience the power and beauty of the complete Vespers. Dur: c. 16:00 (Recorded by the Florida State University Wind Orchestra - Rick Clary, conductor).

Liturgical ceremonies throughout each year provide images of beautiful lights in sacred and solemn remembrance. Using the shimmering of candles as a musical metaphor, composer Robert W. Smith has created a beautifully scored work in Vespers of Light that is ideal for performance during the holidays, Easter or any candlelit vesper. Beautiful and lush, your rising band will sound very mature as they develop their expressive performance skills. Highly recommended for concert and festival programming!

This is a useful piece for three equal voices that can be sung unison or in two parts-and will work with SAB voices if the middle voice is given to the men (an octave lower, of course). The two texts provide morning and evening hymns. The former is useful anytime as a hymn of praise. Unison, two part or three part voices 2 or 3 octaves Handbells or Handchimes .

Rudolf Mauersberger, the cantor of the Dresden Kreuzkirche, shaped his Christvesper in the Christmas tradition of the Erzgebirge in Saxony. The work underwent a long period of gestation and first attained its final form in 1963. The entire church is used for a performance: On the altar the Christmas story from Luke is presented, in four different corners of the church the Quempas or responsorial singing between congregation and cantor takes place, and in the gallery Die Weissagung or Ehre sei Gott in der Hohe are sung; in addition the chorales and songs are performed by a separate group of instruments. Thus the Christvesper, this impressive choral work which is still in the realm of tonality, provides a new accent in the well-known Christmas repertoire.
