Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1189545 By Brian Golden. By Brian Golden. Arranged by Brian Golden. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. Brian Golden #789177. Published by Brian Golden (A0.1189545). Prelude 1 in C Major Ionian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden. The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Bach and Frederic Chopin, whose works stand as essential repertoire for any student of the piano. Using Bach’s and Chopin’s examples, my goal was to compose in all twenty-four keys, yet offer my own variation on the progression of key signatures – Bach’s being a pattern of major to parallel minor progressing chromatically through all keys, and Chopin’s a pattern of major to relative minor keys progressing clockwise through the circle of fifths. In order to expand my harmonic and melodic possibilities, I have included the modal keys rather than only the major and harmonic minor keys, and have chosen to work counterclockwise through the circle of fifths, which is a more natural harmonic progression. Therefore, all major preludes resolve from one to another V-I, as well as do all the minor preludes. While there are seven modal scales, I decided to leave out the locrian modes for the following reasons. First, due to the diminished fifth, the locrian mode cannot be thought of as either major nor minor. Second, the locrian mode did not have a relative key to pair with, since there were no other keys with the identical characteristic notes. In creating the key architecture, I determined that there was only one solution to pairing major and relative minor scales based on a shared parent key and characteristic note - ionian/aolian, mixolydian/phrygian and lydian/dorian. This specific order of modal scales is the only order that would enable composing in all twelve key signatures. Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.

Published by Brian Golden (A0.1216196). Prelude 11 in Db Major Lydian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.YouTube Link https://youtu.be/xb4E0I-vJek.

Composed by John Pitts (1976-). Indian. Sheet Music Single. 270 pages. Published by Intensely Pleasant Music
2nd edition - fully revised 2020 (first published 2016). Available as a pdf from www.pianoraga.com either for individual use or with a studio licence for teachers (this includes a hard copy). Also perfect-bound or coil-bound from www.pianoraga.com (also https://www.amazon.com/Play-Indian-Sitar-R%C4%81gas-Piano/dp/B08DBVQZK8 and https://www.lulu.com/en/gb/shop/john-pitts/how-to-play-indian-sitar-r%C4%81gas-on-a-piano-coil-bound... ).

Indian rāgas (or raags) have an extraordinary musical heritage dating back several centuries (from the area that is now India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) - a truly unique musical genre of fascinating melodic beauty and rhythmic intricacy – freely combining elaborate composed melodies with carefully rehearsed improvisation. This rich and intriguing music is traditionally performed on sitar – or instruments such as the sarangi, sarod, esraj or voice – and has previously been generally unavailable to pianists. But now the amazing world of Indian rāgas has been opened up in this sympathetic but thorough reinvention for piano solo (or duet or two pianos) by an award-winning British composer. This collection of 24 rāgas will be enjoyed by good amateur pianists through to virtuosic professionals. It is suitable for any pianist who enjoys discovering new music, or who has an interest in music from other cultures, or who knows the pleasure of jazz noodling and wants to explore a rewarding and fresh (but centuries-old) form of improvisation.

This book contains:
•Sheet music for piano solo: a set of 24 rāgas, newly composed within a traditional rāga genre, one for each hour of night and day, sunset to sunset, encompassing a wide array of moods, and based on over twenty fascinating scales.
•Step by step instructions to play each of the pre-composed and improvised sections of Indian rāgas, written for pianists who are used to playing European classical music and jazz. This includes how to develop the melodic material in the improvised ālāp (with optional joṛ and jhālā sections), and the part composed part improvised slow, medium and fast gat sections, with optional jhālā to finish.
•Instructions to play any of these rāgas in a duet or at two pianos.
•Hundreds of musical examples.
•Accompanying audio & video examples can be accessed for free at pianoraga.com

The book has been fully revised in 2020, with improved explanations and definitions, spellings conformed to academic usage, corrected inclusion of the improvised joṛ section, inclusion of mohrā phrases in the ālāp, and a transcription of the intricate free-pulse rhythms in the first example ālāp video. .

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912979 Composed by Andrei-Lucian Drăgoi (Dragoi). 20th Century,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score. 63 pages. Andrei-Lucian Dragoi #2931267. Published by Andrei-Lucian Dragoi (A0.912979). I am a Romanian composer. This is my first musical album for piano solo (the 1st edition published in Romania, in 2012). This album addresses to (early) intermediate level piano players and contains 15 miniatures for piano solo. The melodies of these pieces also contain the harmonic lines so that to encourage improvisation and added/alternative guitar accompaniments. The separate lead sheets for 10 of these pieces can also be found on my other album called: Multi-instrumental musical album - volume 1, edition I (lead sheets) (Album muzical poli-instrumental, volume 1, edition I) (Romanian language edition). The mp3 sample is an audio variant of the miniature Mic dans cu aroma irlandeza (Little Irish-flavored dance) from this album. All the miniatures from this album can be listened in audio format on this personal blog page:https://acdecojocullumii.wordpress.com/2013/01/14/albumul-meu-de-pian-solo-pentru-incepatori-volumul...I have marked more instruments that piano solo because each piece is written so that it can also be played in duets (piano-woodwind/strings duo, guitar-woodwind/strings duo) and trio/quartets (piano-guitar-woodwind/-strings).
