Transfigured Life - Still Life
Violin and Piano

Violin and piano - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1525 Composed by David Braid. Score and part. 32 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1525. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1525). Life - Still Life, Op. 165 (violin & piano) - David BraidI am keen on concise musical forms such as Prelude and Fugue, where there is one clear straightforward idea, followed by another that is more involved & developed. In keeping with that idea, this work consists of two distinct pieces, the first - Transfigured Life - aims to draw in the listener with its quick, dancing rhythm and simple, melodic violin part. It 'transfigures' via a few short solo piano interludes into just two alternating notes to end - which are the core of the original idea, now made clear by clearing everything else out of the way.The second piece - Still Life - retains its sense of stillness through an uncomplicated piano line that gives lots of space for the violin's contrasting (but again simple) part. As an absolute, not programmatic, piece the title refers to the atmospheric colour and pacing only; it's up to the listener to see 'Still life' of their choosing in their own mind.A note on performance: Despite my reference to 'simple' lines, and the work's determined avoidance of mainstream modernist squeak - the work has certain performance challenges of phrasing and ensemble that requires considerable skill and musicianship. The work has had the privilege of being recently recorded by violinist Ezgi Sarıkcıoğlu and pianist Rossitza Stoycheva, and is available on all major platforms:https://open.spotify.com/album/6p5YIe17ci0UMuo2RqZgjRhttps://music.apple.com/gb/album/transfigured-life-still-life-world-premiere-recording/1738035953.

Still, Still, Still is the sheet music from my upcoming album Calm and Peaceful Christmas Piano that will be released on November 26, 2021 Louis Landon is a composer and Steinway artist. Formerly of New York and currently living in Sedona, Arizona, Louis has dedicated his life to music. He toured nationally and internationally, playing classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov; jazz fusion with The John Payne Band; Latin music with Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers; pop music with Rupert Pina Colada Song Holmes; and rock & roll with John Hall, opening for Little Feat. Louis began playing the piano by ear at 4 years old and began lessons at 5. As a teenager, he played guitar and keyboard in bands and went on to study music at Stony Brook University, Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. For the past 32 years, through his production company, Landon Music Company, Louis has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials. It is entitled Calm and Peaceful Christmas Piano. Louis Landon mission: To create a more compassionate world by writing, recording and performing music that inspires love, peace, joy and gratitude. Reviews: While some pianists are virtuosos in their playing and others may not be as technically proficient, but have great emotional content in their music, Louis Landon brings it all together with impeccable style and grace. His work covers diverse compositional terrain, incorporating influences of classical, new age, jazz, pop, and more in a mellifluous spectrum of moods and musical colors. Michaeldiamondmusic.com He has a gift for composition that is second to none. Zone Music Reporter .

The show won Best Musical, Book, and Score at the 2004 Tony Awards. The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 2003 at the Vineyard Theatre, co-produced by the Vineyard Theatre and The New Group. In July of that same year, the show moved to the John Golden Theatre on Broadway, where it ran until 2009, playing for over 2,500 performances. “There is Life Outside Your Apartment†is a fan favorite song from the second act of the musical, and it has been re-orchestrated for full concert band while still preserving the playful style and authentic musicality from the original. With the use of an Acme Mouth Siren and a large titanium panel (or sheet metal that can be whacked by a mallet), percussionists can recreate the “city†sound effects that were featured in the original musical production and the use of alternative playing techniques and mutes in the brass contributes to the playful atmosphere. Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828700 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 16 pages. Guido Menestrina #122893. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828700). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Secondo Movimento - Adagio Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse, tacet on 2nd movement), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen, a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787. One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. Follow the score on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_urGVpH7Pls.

Score and parts. 12 pages. Amnael Orozco-Diaz #3913435. Published by Amnael Orozco-Diaz (A0.826936). A pinnacle example of ballad writing, this well-known piece by Freddie Mercury is guaranteed to steal a sigh even from most cold-hearted ex-partners. Given all its classical influence, this song is just perfect for renditions by a string quartet. This version is as loyal to the original score as you will get on an arrangement, so your audience will recognize it and swell with emotion from the very first seconds. This, of course, demands a higher-than-average technical skill level, while still being a joy ride to play. This item includes a full score and a set of parts. Piano Solo - Easy/Beginner - Digital Download Composed by Louis Landon. 21st Century, New Age. Sheet Music Single. 4 pages. Published by Landon Creative, Inc.
Healing Hearts 3<br> Louis Landon<br> 2016 / Landon Creative, Inc.<br> 63 minutes<br> Review by Kathy Parsons<br> Louis Landon’s Healing Hearts 3 is the third in a series of solo piano albums that are comprised of improvisations that were created while clients were in session at his Healing Piano of Sedona (AZ). These sixty-minute healing and music sessions consist of forty minutes of mentoring and twenty minutes of music that includes personalized music for the client’s own use. Landon created Healing Piano of Sedona several years ago to help people live life joyously, passionately, and stress- and disease-free. Landon is a Steinway Artist who has been a life-long musician. Healing Hearts 3 is his twenty-first album and fourteenth solo piano collection. Each of the thirteen pieces on the album was inspired by a different “soul journey,” so the music is quite varied although it maintains a very calming and peaceful vibe throughout.<br> <br> It is interesting to note that Healing Hearts 3 has the closest to the ideal sound Landon has been looking for on his recordings. He attributes that achievement to the mastering and editing expertise of Joe Bongiorno of Piano Haven Studio, also in Sedona. Landon has been trying to get the sound of a classical concert hall in his Peace Palace studio recordings and this album definitely has that sound, which is exceptionally beautiful - clear, warm and resonant.<br> <br> Healing Hearts 3 begins with “Standing In the Light,” a softly flowing piece with a poignant melody that gently soothes the heart - a favorite. “Heart Song” is hushed, intimate and obviously very personal. “Triumph of the Soul” starts out in the deep bass of the piano - very dark and lost. As the piece evolves, it gradually lightens as it moves up the piano keyboard, ending in a very positive place. I’ve often said that the piano is the best instrument to express the sound and feeling of rain and “Night Rain” proves that point again. More energetic than most of the other tracks, the notes flow freely: sometimes smoothly and evenly, sometimes more percussive like big fat raindrops - love it! “Tears” is heartbreak set to music, although tears are so often a big part of the healing process. Such deep emotion is expressed in this piece! Landon wisely follows sadness with “Happy Man,” a lively slice of pianistic sunshine. “Phoenix Rising” begins in the deep bass of the piano, obviously signifying a very dark place or crisis. Over the course of the composition, there is turmoil and pain, but then Landon gradually moves the piece into the upper end of the piano to a much lighter and more peaceful place - a stunning piece! “Healing Time” is gently uplifting and so soothing and serene that I can actually feel it melting away tension - another favorite. “Music Runs Through Me” flows quickly like a stream with sparkles of sunlight dancing happily on its surface. “Balance” returns to a calm stillness that comes when things/life are in balance. Slow, lyrical and very peaceful, it’s the perfect closing for another great album from Louis Landon!<br> <br> I have thoroughly enjoyed all three Healing Hearts albums, but I think #3 is my favorite. It is available from LouisLandon.com, Amazon, iTunes and CD Baby. Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028192 Composed by Jeremy Hart. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 37 pages. Jeremy Graham Hart #6590413. Published by Jeremy Graham Hart (A0.1028192). Oscillation began as an experiment in coordination of a melody and harmony which are based on different means of organization. To this end, the clarinet is treated separately from the string quartet. The clarinet melody is constructed by means of limited interval usage. In mm.1–3 it can be observed that the melodic intervals are strictly limited to the use of a major 2nd/minor 7th or a major 6th/minor 3rd. By contrast, the string quartet has no limitation on its intervallic usage but always strives towards triadic harmonies in its accompanimental capacity and tends to converge on harmonies diatonic to the key. In addition, despite the proliferation of non-chord tones and transitionary passages in the string quartets’ music, the stable harmonies are written to have fairly parsimonious motion between them (if one were to reduce out the NCTs etc.) The coordination of these two separate logics is done by the selection of anchor-pitches for the melodic phrases. For example, the melodic phrase in mm.4–7 oscillates around the pitch of G natural (transposed in the score), which it shares with the F major/minor 7th chord that is heard as the harmonic goal of the strings in m.7. The teleology of the work can largely be traced in its melodic construction. Its opening phrase of mm.1–3 is anchored on G natural and ends on a C sharp, a tritone above the anchor, to simulate a half-cadence effect. The second phrase of mm.4–7 is still written on G natural but it ends on G as well, forming the authentic cadence and establishing a basic period as well as the work’s first theme. This is followed by second period which represents a dominant relationship to the first. The phrase at mm.10–13.2 is a rather extended utterance in comparison to the first two and is anchored on D natural. This is followed by 4-stage call and response across the ensemble (excluding the second violin) that leads the first section to a close at m.16 on a C diminished triad. Melodically, the first section is characterised by its limited used of a major 2nd/minor 7th or a major 6th/minor 3rd interval. At m.17, the second section follows much the same process as the first, using anchor pitches as a means of coordination and formal definition, and alternating soloistic clarinet playing with activated harmonies in the strings. The primary difference is in the character of the second section’s theme with regards to its rhythmic profile as well as its intervallic content. Namely, these are limited to the use of a minor 3rd or minor 2nd and their inversions. The second section draws to a close at m.32, returning to the tonic harmony of the key. With the first and second sections complete, the work now proceeds into a developmental section. Mm.33–84 largely consists of development of the two themes by manipulation of intervallic content as well as adjusting the placement of the thematic material withing the accompanimental context. This does include juxtaposition of the two themes (though one typicall becomes integrated into to accompaniment) as can be seen between the violin and viola at m.39. Variety is heightened by the introduction of episodic material such as the secondary melody performed by the clarinet at mm.40–41. The Lento section starting at m.53 introduces further rhythmic and metric adjustment of the thematic content. A varied recapitulation occurs at mm.85–113 and is followed by a coda at mm.114–131.

SATB choir unaccompanied - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3533-E Composed by Matthew Emery. 5 pages. Duration 2 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3533-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3533-E). English. In this first piece of a set called Two Pickthall Songs, the poet asks the wind to be still, life to be sufficient, and time to be merciful. Each line of the poem is set to its own unique musical phrase, which directly relates to each image of the text. The music picks up emotion and energy on the word “breath,†as if the chorus is sighing. Later, the music increases its harmonic tension on the word “relentless.†The closing phrase is sung on a hum, as if to represent a memory, an echo, or perhaps a shadow in the window which reminds us of something that has passed. Gardner Music (A0.799654). SATB, Piano, Horns, Timpani, PercussionBE ADVISED, IF YOU SIT IN THE FRONT ROW, YOU MAY WANT TO BRING A RAINCOAT!In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. (Gen 7:11-12 KJV)Quietly the first drops of rain begin to fall... One, two... The wind begins to stir, becoming audible. And in a moment it seems thousands of heavy raindrops fall upon the mountains and hills and plains, as though a veil of water had suddenly descended upon the earth from the heavens. Fountains of the Deep musically portrays the events of the Bible concerning the great waters in a tumultuous storm of notes thundering from the grand piano and percussion. Simultaneously, the choir calls out for help while being tossed by the tempestuous seas, swallowed by a great fish, and chased to the edge of the sea by Pharaoh. The text in Fountains of the Deep is a mixed narrative that combines scripture with an imagined exclamation at the cataclysmic events of the day. Still comes the rain, still comes the rain, never ceasing! Whether it was one man, thousands, or all of mankind, the Lord has chosen to use the great depths of the sea to do his Will. This dramatic sonic reenactment brings the listener as close to the action as one would wish to get.PURCHASE INCLUDES FULL SCORE AND ALL PARTS - priced to be purchased as a choral score, so, please purchase one copy per performer...Thank you!)Difficulty: Moderate (Choir)/Intermediate/Advanced (Piano)NOTE: While Ab minor may seem like an extreme key, it plays very well on the piano and gives the choir a very full sound. However, Fountains can easily be performed in A minor, as desired, by simply removing the key signature (for the Horns, also add a sharp (E minor)Approx. 4 minutes and 50 seconds in lengthTo learn more about the composer, please visit https://www.dmgardner.com

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734620 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. Chicory Music #6676835. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734620). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for String Orchestra plus optional Drum Set part remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds
