Unfortunately, Bruckner never heard a live performance by orchestra of this glorious work.Randall Malmstrom has arranged extracts of the Adagio movement for a 5-part Trombone Ensemble including alto on the top part and a contrabass on the bottom part, giving it a very wide and luscious sonority.The 5 1/2 minute arrangement is appropriate for advanced performers.

The organ symphonies are his most significant contribution to the organ repertoire.With the Opus 42 symphonies Widor shows his mastery and refinement of contrapuntal technique while exploring to the fullest the capabilities of the Cavaillé-Coll organs for which these works were written.
