Healing Hearts 2<br> Louis Landon<br> 2015 / Landon Creative<br> 66 minutes<br> Review by Kathy Parsons<br> Louis Landon continues to soar on the wings of an amazingly creative period - now going on several years! Healing Hearts 2 is the follow-up to Healing Hearts, which was released the end of 2014 and is nominated for Album of the Year on Whisperings Solo Piano Radio. This is Landon’s second album for 2015 and he’s already working on his first release for 2016! The fourteen tracks on Healing Hearts 2 were gathered from improvisations created during sessions at Landon’s Healing Piano of Sedona (AZ), so the piano solos are very smooth and soothing - probably the most relaxed and relaxing album of Landon’s career. Recorded on a Steinway B grand piano at The Peace Palace in Sedona and mastered by Joe Bongiorno at Piano Haven, also in Sedona, the piano sound is impeccable - very warm and enveloping. Landon told me that this is the best music he never wrote, referring to the fact that the music just flows out of him during these sessions, reflective of each client’s wants and needs at the time of the session.<br> <br> The full Healing Hearts 2 album is a little more than an hour of quietly uplifting music and works exceptionally well as a relaxing and healing experience. I’d like to mention a few favorite pieces, though. The album begins with “Sisters,” a very gentle piece that expresses the love and special bond that can exist between sisters. Very light and free, it’s a beautiful start. “Free At Last” starts out almost mournfully - dark and searching - gradually becoming livelier and more optimistic. It’s an amazing musical journey and development! “Relax and Enjoy” expresses the warm comfort of just letting go and “being” for awhile - leisurely and contented. “Feeling the Love” is so warm and open that it feels like a musical embrace - melodic yet very free. “All Is Well” is almost ambient, but what a wonderful atmosphere of quiet contentment it creates - a perfect peace. “Transition” is like floating on a cloud - effortless and so peaceful. “Dark Nights” is one of the most beautiful pieces Landon has recorded. It reminds me a little bit of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and some of Chopin’s Nocturnes - so poignant and heartfelt that it takes my breath away. The gracefully flowing “Dancer” expresses freedom and elegant movement. “Lullaby” closes this excellent album with a piece so soothing it could melt the tension out of anyone. Gorgeous!<br> <br> If you are looking for music that will relax and refresh your inner being, you need to look no further than Healing Hearts 2. This is the real deal when it comes to soothing piano music with substance and heart. It is available from louislandon.com, Amazon, iTunes, and CD Baby. Formerly of New York and currently living in Sedona, Arizona, Louis has dedicated his life to music. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry. He toured nationally and internationally, playing classical music for Mikhail Baryshnikov; jazz fusion with The John Payne Band; Latin music with "Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers”; pop music with Rupert "Pina Colada Song" Holmes; and rock & roll with John Hall, opening for "Little Feat”.<br> <br> Louis began playing the piano by ear at 4 years old and began lessons at 5. As a teenager, he played guitar and keyboard in bands and went on to study music at Stony Brook University, Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.<br> <br> For the past 30 years, through his production company, Landon Music Company, Louis has written and produced music for film, video, and commercials. He recorded his first original album, Love Songs & Jazz, in 1994 and has since released 38 Albums/CDs on the LCI Record label. His latest, entitled Provocative Piano, was released on January 29, 2021. He has just finished up yet another solo piano album, Nighttime Piano for Relaxation and Deep Sleep, with a release date of April 23, 2021.<br> <br> Louis Landon mission:<br> <br> To create a more compassionate world by writing, recording and performing music that inspires love, peace, joy and gratitude.<br> <br> Reviews:<br> <br> “While some pianists are virtuosos in their playing and others may not be as technically proficient, but have great emotional content in their music, Louis Landon brings it all together with impeccable style and grace. LILLY'S DANCE (THE TUMBLER)

(+)
Large Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Bass Guitar,Clarinet,Drums,Flute,Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.876447 Composed by Joe Procopio. Dance,Jazz,Pop. Score and parts. 24 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #53323. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876447). LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) Back to School 2015 From PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES by Joe Procopio LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) is a delightful Latin flavored dance that was inspired by Little Miss Lilly who could tumble on command all by her big self when she was only 15 months old. When I first saw her dance and tumble at such a young age, I was so moved that I wrote this piece to celebrate her ability to amaze everyone with her dancing and tumbling. LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) was originally written and arranged for a small ensemble, band, stage band or combo with flexible instrumentation so that it may be performed with only two Saxophones (Alto Sax I and Alto Sax II) and a standard backup with Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. In addition, any combo may be augmented by adding any or all of the parts included for Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax. This flexible or variable instrumentation of LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) makes it unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. What’s more, LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the group’s enjoyment but also everyone’s listening pleasure. This piece is composed in the same style of the other dances in the set - all of which have been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events along the East Coast with great success. It is published separately and in a set entitled PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES PART 1 from the sets PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES Part I and Part II. Each Part contains 3 Dances. I have adapted the audio here for synthesizer so that it may be previewed. It is one of 6 works named and dedicated to each of my 6 Grandchildren: Lilly, Mary, Lydia, Emma, Joey and Wilson. Instrumentation for LILLY’S DANCE (THE TUMBLER) includes SCORE and parts for: ALTO SAX I ALTO SAX II TENOR SAX BARITONE SAX FLUTE CLARINET PIANO/KEYBOARD - GUITAR - BASS - DRUMS VITA Joe Procopio is a master musician and teacher with proven success for over 50 years. His purpose in teaching, writing music and books is to make his successful method of making musicians available to as many people as possible around the world. While I cannot guarantee that my methods will make you a great musician as they have for many others, says Procopio, I can say that they are designed to magnify your love of music - and that I guarantee each will enrich and enhance your life. People from all over the world have written to me to tell me so. As a Master Musician , Joe Procopio is an ASCAP Artist, composer, conductor and professional musician. He was the Lead Reed for many of the nation's top recording artists including: The Temptations, Steve and Eydie Gorme, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Lawrence Welk, Frankie Avalon, Frankie Laine, Jack Jones, Kathryn Grayson, Carmel Quinn, Don Cornell, Bobby Rydell, Vic Damone, Rodney Dangerfield, Foster Brooks, The Vagabonds, The Ritz Brothers, Sammy Cohn, Jimmy Van Heusen, Tiny Tim, Al Martino, Petula Clark, Wayne Newton, Pat Cooper, The Four Tops, The Spinners, etc. Lead Alto Sax Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and the Palace Theater Myrtle Beach, SC He is listed in The Encyclopedia of Saxophone Music Londeix, Roncorp Pub. He is the teacher of Guitarist T. Maxwell heard in TV’s Magnum P.I., The Rockford Files and Kojak ; the vocalist/bassist I. Cattell of Brit Floyd (Pink Floyd) and New York Tenor Saxophonist Paul Carlon to mention a few. His accomplishments as a teacher include: The Miles Clark Endowed Chair, Music, College of the Albemarle, Elizabeth City, NC, Chair Music Depart.

PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES - PART 2 Back to School 2015 From A Collection Of Six Dances As Combo Music EMMA’S BLUES JOEY’S READY WILSON’S BOOGIE WOOGIE PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES PART 2 is a collection of 3 Dances as combo music composed and arranged by Joe Procopio for a small ensemble, band, stage band or combo with flexible instrumentation. These works may be performed with only two Saxes (Alto Sax I and Alto Sax II) and a standard backup with Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass and Drums. In addition, any combo may be augmented by adding any or all of the parts included for Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Baritone Sax. This flexible or variable instrumentation of the dances makes them unique and perfect for schools and colleges that do not have a permanent roster of music students entering their music programs annually. It also eases the burden for Directors searching for good music to perform for groups with ever changing numbers of music students. What’s more, each dance has a section open for solos to enable the ensemble to feature players who can improvise well enhancing not only the group’s enjoyment but also everyone’s listening pleasure. These works have been performed by College and High School students in many major concert events along the East Coast with great success. They are published separately and in sets PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES Part 1 and PAPA’S FAMOUS DANCES Part 2 with each Part containing 3 Dances. I have adapted the audio here for synthesizer so that they may be previewed. The works are named and dedicated to each of my 6 Grandchildren: Lilly, Mary, Lydia, Emma, Joey and Wilson. Guitar - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Comedy,Film/TV,Jazz. 62 pages. RBMusic #5358961. Published by RBMusic (A0.752393). Written by Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee, Bring Me Sunshine was first recorded by The Mills Brothers in 1968 for their album My Shy Violet. In the UK, the song is associated with the comedy duo Eric Morecambe & Ernie Wise, after it was used in the second series of their BBC show as their signature tune from 1969. This arrangement was requested by Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band, to bring some sunshine to his band whilst everyone was in lockdown during the 2019/2020 Coronavirus Pandemic. Whilst this arrangement is written for the standard brass dectet instrumentation of 4 trumpets, 1 French Horn, 4 trombones and 1 tuba (with optional drum kit part), it can also be performed by larger ensembles (such as the UK-style brass band) due to all of the alternative parts included (e.g. part for tenor horn and treble-clef lower brass instruments). There are also alternative parts for ensembles that only have 3 trumpets, or 3 trombones, etc. An alternative score has also been provided for ease of conducting in the UK. A recording of the song can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMY7j5U-LxI. 2 voices and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47807 Das Liederspiel. Composed by Engelbert Humperdinck. This edition: single sheet. Singspiel version - fairy tale - Brothers Grimm - folk song - piano reduction - Hansel - Gretel - witch. Downloadable, Separate edition. Duration 55 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q47807. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47807). German. When Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy tale opera Hänsel und Gretel was premiered on 23 December 1893 in Weimar conducted by Richard Strauss, the work could look back on an extensive history of origin.Humperdinck’s younger sister Adelheid Wette (born in 1858) had displayed a great interest in literature in her youth and written a variety of poems for special occasions. In 1888, she wrote a fairy tale entitled Schneewittchen [Snow White] and her brother supplied some songs for this piece. Further fairy tale collaborations followed which were customarily performed within the family circle, and the first draft of the Hänsel und Gretel was begun in 1890. Adelheid’s husband would be celebrating his 34th birthday on 16 May of this year and his wife intended to surprise him with a performance of her version of this fairy tale. Her brother was allotted the task of composing the accompanying songs and, a month before the birthday, she wrote a letter to him in Mainz where Engelbert Humperdinck was among other activities working as an editor for the Schott publishing house, ordering a “very pretty folkloric†Tanzlied [Dance song], a Waldlied [Forest song] (or Echolied [Echo song]), a Schlummerlied [Lullaby] and a Kickericki-Lied [Cock-a-doodle-doo song] from her “dear sugar-sweet little brother... Engel-Bärtchen [angel beard]â€. She enclosed the corresponding verses with the letter and “for fun†also provided her own invented melody for the Schlummerlied and rhythmic suggestions for the Tanzlied. Humperdinck went straight to work and, as related in an entry in his diary, was already able to play the songs to the director of the publishing house, Dr Ludwig Strecker, by 19 April. This was the history of origin of the four songs published for the first time edited in form of their original versions in this edition Brüderchen komm’ tanz’ mit mir, Wer ruft mir im Walde doch alles nach, In den Zweigen die Vögelein und Tirelireli! ‘s ist nicht mehr früh “for two children’s voices and piano accompaniment†(see manuscript1). In his reply letter to his sister in which the fair copy of the songs were enclosed, Humperdinck wrote: “As you see, the pitch of the melodies is not too high and I have incorporated your melodies. Let me know soon whether you like the little songs. By the way, the ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ can also be sung on one note(E flat) instead of on the four notes of the chord.â€The first performance of the song-play was held as planned within the family circle with Wettes’ two eldest daughters in the two principle roles. Spurred on by the success of the family performance, initial plans were forged to adapt the song-play into a singspiel with numerous musical numbers and rhymed dialogues; Hermann Wette participated in a draft of the text. The particell of this singspiel had been completed by Christmas 1890. Hugo Wolf and a few others however advised the composer to extend the singspiel into a through-composed fairy tale opera. Humperdinck followed this advice and worked on what he ironically termed as a “Kinderstubenweihfestspiel“ [sacred festive play for the nursery] during the next two summers in Bayreuth. Tanzliedchen [Dance song] and Morgenweckruf [Cock-a-doodle-doo song] were eventually included in the opera in a modified form.
