Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1363465 Composed by Liz Nedela. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Folk,Multicultural,World. Score. 12 pages. Liz Nedela #947869. Published by Liz Nedela (A0.1363465). Dance of the Lanna is a portrayal of a festival in Northern Thailand; Lanna refers to the people there, and the festival celebrates rebirth of their heritage. The festival is comprised of several dances depicting events of nature; this piece portrays two of the dances: Dance of the Silk Weaver and Water is Life. The piece opens with portrayal of expressive Thai flute solo, proceeding to portrayal of Thai string orchestra and the PiNai oboe, leading to fast-paced announcement of dancers, moving into the themes of each dance. The style is slow, dramatic, unique movements, appearance of simplistic (but difficult) dances, using piano techniques unique to the style of Thai music. The piece was written for a piano student who wanted to portray music of his country on the piano. The mp3 is from computer notation. Please see the YouTube link for performance where pianist adapted opening to flute and added a dancer.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1518635 Composed by Alan Edgar. Romantic Period. 18 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #1092735. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1518635). WITCHES’ FIREDANCE at BELTANE String quartet. Beltane continues to be observed throughout Ireland and Scotland. The Beltane celebrations on the Hill of Uisneach in Ireland and the Edinburgh Fire Festival are long-standing and beloved. These days, Beltane has been embraced by modern witches and mystics as a celebration of the energies of Spring. You can probably find a Spring festival with a maypole and a bonfire near you. Witches celebrate Beltane on May 1st as the height of Spring. They give thanks for the fertility of our planet and the ability of the Earth to renew herself. They revel in the new growth and general fecundity of the season. As co-creators with the Universe, witches also like to tap into the energy of Spring to help them bring new life into their own endeavours. They have a maypole and a bonfire. They celebrate the sexual union of Mother Earth and Green Man. The maypole is a symbol of masculine energy which is then joyfully embraced by colourful ribbons, symbolic of the beautiful abundance and diversity of our living world.Beltane is a pagan Celtic festval, but as is their wont, the Roman Catholic Church has modified it: into May Day, with participation of priests. Even the maypole upset many Christians. The sections of the piece are: Introduction to the witches theme, Witches fly in, Witches dance round the bonfire, Maypole dance, Witches inspect the finished maypole and disperse. The witches have a ground bass. I hint at their suspected spiritual allegiance to the Devil by including an occasional diabolus in musica. The Maypole Dance tune is English seventeenth C traditional.DURATION: 4 minutes.INSTRUMENTATION: String Quartet.

String Quartet - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Tilly Lockwood. Contemporary Classical, Repertoire, General Instructional, Children's Music, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 33 pages. Published by Surrey Dance Music
A collection of four fun characterful sketches arranged for string quartet. I’ve left the melody mostly in the hands of the first, and all four will benefit from “playing together” skills, adding character with rubato and being aware of what each player is doing. For this reason, as well as the height to which the first reaches, I've graded it as intermediate. I’ve also added a few bow markings for guidance.

Score. 4 pages. Helene Schulthess #776833. Published by Helene Schulthess (A0.1176752). You can purchase all 26 folkdances for 30 $ under this link: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/26-swiss-folk-dances-for-2-flutes-and-accompaniment-digital-sheet-music/21673528The document contents 26 folk dances for two flutes (49 pages) and a score (52 pages)Swiss folk music is very lively. Its diversity reflects the small regional and cultural spaces of Switzerland. Influences from other European countries have also shaped this kind of music since the early 19th century. Polka and Mazurka have their roots in Poland, the Scottish in Scotland. The music has been passed on by word of mouth or has been written down in musicians’ notebooks.Between 1940 and 1960, the ethnomusicologist Hanny Christen travelled through Switzerland and collected thousands of melodies from the period between 1800 and 1960. The musicians played or sang in front of her. Some permitted her to write off their own hand-written dance booklets in full. In 1956, Hanny Christen began to record this music with a tape recorder. It is thanks to her that over 12,000 instrumental dance movements of Switzerland and many other pieces of tradition (costumes, biographies, musical instruments etc.) were saved from being forgotten. The instruments used in traditional folk music vary depending on the type of dance and region. Flutes are more or less non-existent. The author would like to fill a gap with this publication. She has therefore adapted one folk dance per canton from the Hanny Christen-collection* for two flutes. The pieces from the cantons of Basel City, Thurgau and Geneva do not come from this source, though. The melodies from the other 23 cantons are taken unchanged from the collection. The second voice was not always composed quite traditional. Score. 4 pages. Helene Schulthess #776830. Published by Helene Schulthess (A0.1176750). The melody follows - if possible - a contrapuntal melody of its own and is directed to the flute (difficulty grade 3 +).The editor, Helene Schulthess, is a flutist with a wide repertoire. She lives in Switzerland. She performs as a soloist, makes chamber music and is active as a music teacher. She is involved in various musical projects (www.helene-schulthess.ch).* Swiss Folk Music Collection. The dance music of Switzerland of the 19th and first half of the 20th century.
