Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548712 Comp…
(+)
Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548712 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and individual part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411731. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548712). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther arranged for bass flute & piano. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Features the entire range of the instrument. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 3 pg. Solo part: 1 pg. The piano reads from the score. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics, essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed pieces, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548730 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 8 pages. Jmsgu3 #3412105. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548730). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther. First verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 4 pg. piano part 2 pg. violin part: 1 pg. cello part: 1 pg. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics which are essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed compositions, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. Instrumental Duet,Piano Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Digital Download SKU: A0.726101 Arranged by Traditional, Johann Cruger. Christian,Holiday,Sacred. Score and parts. 12 pages. Con Spirito Music #6077249. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726101). This arrangement for trombone, flute, and piano brings together two hymn tunes that are especially popular at the American holiday of Thanksgiving, but appropriate at any time of year. We gather together are the opening words to a poem written by the Dutch poet and composer Adrianus Valerius in 1597 to celebrate the Dutch victory in a long-standing dispute with Spain. 1878, the Austrian composer/conductor Edward Kremser arranged six Dutch folk songs for men's voices, including Prayer of Thanksgiving: Old Dutch Melody, with texts in German. In 1894, Theodore Baker (editor of Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians) translated the German text of Prayer of Thanksgiving into the familiar English version, We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing, that is sung today. Now Thank We All Our God is Catherine Winkworth's (1827-1878) translation of the German Nun Danket Alle Gott, written by Lutheran clergyman and hymn-writer Martin Rinckart (1586-1649). Rinckart's text, based on a passage from Ecclesiasticus, was set to a chorale tune by Johann Cruger (1598-1662) in his 1647 collection, Praxis pietatis melica (The Practice of Piety in Song), a hymnal for use in public worship and private devotions. Like We Gather Together, it is strongly associated the Thanksgiving holiday and other services of thanksgiving. Copyright 2015 Todd Marchand / www.ConSpiritoMusic.com

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155050 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 41 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #755331. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1155050). This is the sixteenth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 16 (Songs 406-432)Here’s Adieu to All Judges and JuriesHeron from Brecon (THE)Hexhamshire Lass (THE)Hey Ho, The Morning DewHieland LaddieHigh GermanyHills of Shiloh (IN THE)Hind HornHo ro, My Nut-Brown MaidenHolland Handkerchief Holly HoHolly Tree (THE) Hope the HermitHorn FairHostess’s Daughter (THE)House Carpenter (THE)How My Soul is now DelightedHugh Lincoln Hughie the GraemeHunting Priest (The )Hunton Sword-DanceHusbandman (THE)Hush, my BabeI Am the True VineI Have four SistersI Hear Along Our Street 1 (Dunster Carol)I Live not Where I Love.

Score and parts. 14 pages. Joseph Hasper #3213083. Published by Joseph Hasper (A0.734796). Traditional sailor's song arranged for German Band with two clarinets, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and optional drums. Includes a full score and all parts. Includes optional lyrics that let you sing a verse! Key of F. 81 measures, 20pages.Barnacle Bill the Sailor is an American drinking song adapted from Bollocky Bill the Sailor, a traditional folk song originally titled Abraham Brown. The first printed version of the song is in the public domain book Immortalia (1927). Later versions feature the eponymous Barnacle Bill, a fictional character loosely based on a 19th-century San Francisco sailor and Gold Rush miner named William Bernard. Versions are also known in England and Scotland from the early twentieth century. One version of Barnacle Bill refers to an exchange between Bill and a fair young maiden. Each verse opens with inquiries by the maiden, sung by women, or by men in falsetto, and continues with Bill's profane responses sung by men.Barnacle Bill the Sailor (Roud 4704) is an American drinking song adapted from Bollocky Bill the Sailor, a traditional folk song originally titled Abraham Brown.[1]There are several versions of the bawdy song in the Gordon Inferno Collection at the Library of Congress folklife archive. The first printed version of the song is in the public domain book Immortalia (1927). Later versions feature the eponymous Barnacle Bill, a fictional character loosely based on a 19th-century San Francisco sailor and Gold Rush miner named William Bernard.[2] Versions are also known in England and Scotland from the early twentieth century. The earliest known recording is an expurgated adaptation by Carson Robison and Frank Luther in 1928. This version was also recorded on May 21, 1930 by Bix Beiderbecke and Hoagy Carmichael with Carson Robison on vocals and released as a Victor 78, V-38139-A and 25371. In 1996 it was released on CD on the album Bix Beiderbecke 1927–1930.[3] According to Philip R. Evans, Bix Beiderbecke's biographer, in the second chorus of this recording, violinist Joe Venuti can be heard singing Barnacle Bill the Shit-head, either to express his attitude toward the record producer, or typical of his wacky sense of humor. Esten Spurrier, a friend of Beiderbecke's, is quoted by Evans as saying that Beiderbecke told him he could not believe the record would be pressed and had felt that it had been done just for laughs. Beiderbecke cut loose on the tune with what is believed to be one of his finest cornet solos. John Valby (aka Dr. Dirty) also recorded the song. The tune has inspired a Fleischer Studios Betty Boop cartoon and two films, as well as the name of a rock on Mars. Louis Jordan and the Tympany Five (then known as The Elks Rendezvous Band) recorded a clean version in 1938.[4] In the first Fleischer Popeye cartoon, Popeye the Sailor (1933), Barnacle Bill was used as the recurring theme for the Bluto character. A later Fleischer Popeye cartoon, Beware of Barnacle Bill (1935), is a mock operetta based around a toned-down version of the song.Example of lyrics[edit]One version of Barnacle Bill refers to an exchange between Bill and a fair young maiden. Each verse opens with inquiries by the maiden, sung by women, or by men in falsetto, and continues with Bill's profane responses sung by men.

Soprano, clarinet and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q54433 Composed by Enjott Schneider. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q54433. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q54433). German. This work is based on two of Mignon’s songs from Goethe’s Wilhelm Meister. It was devised as a sister work to Franz Schubert’s celebrated lyrical scene Der Hirt auf dem Felsen [The Shepherd on the Rock] of 1829 and can be included in concert programmes performed by the same ensemble of soprano, clarinet and piano. Substantial quotations from Beethoven’s song Nur wer die Sehnsucht kennt establish a stylistic link with Viennese Classicism. We feel Mignon’s unquenchable longing for another world nach jener Seite [to the other side] beyond death, while in the second song So laßt mich scheinen [Thus let me seem], the longing for death is coloured with details from another, lovelier life.

Heidenröslein: Variations on a Theme by Franz Schubert
Instrumental Duet,Piano Euphonium,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Dow…

Instrumental Duet,Piano Euphonium,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927030 Composed by Franz Schubert, Kayla Roth. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 27 pages. Kayla Roth #3373343. Published by Kayla Roth (A0.927030). From the composer's program notes included with this purchase:I have taken Schubert’s famous setting and arranged it in a set of musical homages to other composers. I have also included Schubert’s original theme, transposed down to F, and I would recommend playing it twice in the beginning to give your audience a good idea of it.For most of the pieces, I tried to capture the composer’s overall style; however, there are a few particular pieces that are either quoted or used as the stylistic basis, as follows: Mozart - I based this variation, stylistically, on Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major (K.467), specifically movement two (Andante), as well as some of his earliest childhood piano compositions. Symphony 40 in G minor (K.550) is quoted rhythmically. Strauss, Jr. - For inspiration, I used Du und Du, Op. 367, a waltz that is derived from various parts of his beloved operetta, Die Fledermaus. I quoted rhythms from this, as well as from Frühlingsstimmen, Op. 410. Joplin - I didn’t base this on any particular piece of Joplin’s; I tried to include elements that are common in his rags (a short introduction, arpeggiated diminished seventh chords, chromaticism, syncopation over a boom-chuck). Perhaps the best advice comes from Joplin himself: Don’t play this piece fast. It is never right to play ragtime fast. Porter - I had to include an offering from the Great American Songbook! Frank Sinatra recorded several of Porter’s well-known tunes in the 1940s, such as Easy To Love, Night and Day, and I Love You; his renditions of these songs are heavy on the schmaltz and sentimentality, which is exactly what I was trying to achieve in this variation.Bach - The minor variation! I had Fugue in G minor, BWV 578 (Little Fugue) in mind when writing this.der Jodelkönig - As Heidenröslein is a strophic, folk-songesque German piece, I thought it fitting to end the variations with an imitation of traditional Alpine yodeling. It is named in honor of Franzl Lang, the Yodelking.
