Small Ensemble Bassoon,English Horn,Flute,Timpani - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031573 Composed by Xiaowei Cao. Arranged by Xiaowei Cao. Contemporary. Score and parts. 16 pages. ShallV #4764939. Published by ShallV (A0.1031573). Notice: The mp3 file is played by midi instruments, not the actual recording of the piece.Tiananmen (2018) is a piece in memory of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, which was commonly known as the June Fourth Incident (å…四事件). The protests were students led demonstrations in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, and were forcibly suppressed after the government declared martial law. In what became known in West as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, troops with automatic rifles and tanks killed at least several hundred demonstrators trying to block the military’s advance towards Tiananmen Square. The number of civilian deaths has been estimated variously from 180 to 10,454.The piece itself reflects the atmosphere of China chronologically from the day before the incident to the time when protests were completely suppressed. The piece was divided into two movements. The first part of the piece serves as an introduction setting up the depressing tone of the whole piece. The first part of the piece reflects the anxiety of the whole society when the martial law was declared. And the second part of the piece refers to Zhao Ziyang’s (赵紫阳) speech at the Tiananmen Square where he tries to communicate with the students and peacefully resolve the protest. The third part and the fourth part of the piece directly describes the protest on June 4th which show a catastrophic and desperate atmosphere.

Mozart: Ave Verum Corpus for Piano Quintet

Piano Quintet Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552099 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #6119421. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552099). Mozart: Ave verum corpus K. 618 for PIANO QUINTET. This is a fantastic masterpiece of music written by one of the greatest composers in our history. This famous piece by Mozart was composed only six months before his untimely death in 1791. Mozart wrote this on commission while working on the Magic Flute. Program this for Lent or Easter meditations or any Christian communion service. Also, this would be a strong recital encore showing mastery of phrasing, tone quality, and dynamics.Ave verum corpusFirst, Mozart composed a most noteworthy motet in Latin, Ave verum corpus. This translates in English as Hail, the actual body. The motet is undoubtedly listed as K.618 in the Köchel Catalog. This is a chronological catalog of Mozart’s compositions consequently published by Ludwig von Köchel. Seems like Mozart probably composed this motet in the last year of his life. Likewise, he worked on his final opera, the Magic Flute, and his Requiem Mass at the time. Mozart wrote it for the feast of Corpus Christi. He scored it for SATB choir, string instruments, and a small organ. Hence, while the Requiem is a more dramatic work, the motet expresses even more the Eucharistic thoughts with relatively simple means, well-matched for the church choir in a small town.Early YearsWolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791) was a productive and significant Austrian classical composer. Mozart displayed unusual musical capability from his earliest childhood. It seems like he could already play the keyboard and violin at age two. He started composing at age five and performed before European royalty.Middle PeriodAt 17, Mozart was working as a musician at the Salzburg Royal Court but grew agitated from boredom and traveled to search for a more exciting job. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was summarily dismissed from his Salzburg job. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in the Capital (Vienna), where he achieved much fame but little economic haven. Throughout his concluding years in the Capital, he composed many of his most famous works: symphonies, operas, and concertos.Final PeriodThe conditions surrounding his death have been the subject of much conjecture and mythology. He composed over 600 works, many recognized as high points of symphonic, chamber, concertante, choral, and operatic. He is among the most everlastingly famous classical composers, and his impact is substantial on succeeding Western art music.

Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25917 Vocal Score based on the Richard Wagner Complete Edition edited by Wolfgang M. Wagner. Composed by Richard Wagner. This edition: vocal/piano score. Erstveröffentlichung - Oper - Theater. Wagner Urtext Piano/Vocal Scores. Downloadable, Piano reduction. Schott Music - Digital #Q25917. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q25917). German • French. An important addition to Schott's newly published orchestral material is the first publication of piano scores for the ten major operas by Richard Wagner in all major versions. For the first time, we offer the stages and interested opera lovers piano scores as urtext editions that were designed according to uniform editorial criteria.•The score is aligned with the performance material of the Complete Edition. •All piano scores have study numbers and continuous measure numbers for rehearsal and study practice. •The editors are renowned musicologists from the circles of those working on the Richard Wagner Complete Edition who contribute detailed information on the respective editions to the critical prefaces.•The prefaces are printed in three languages (German, English, French). •The uniform appealing cover design with reproductions of paintings from the Wagner era emphasizes the serial character of the edition.TANNHÄUSERFor the Richard Wagner Complete Edition, the editors Egon Voss, Peter Jost and Reinhard Strohm as well as Cristina UrchueguÃa have researched and presented Tannhäuser's genesis and history of more than thirty years, which also took about thirty years of scientific work, on 2,959 pages in eight volumes. With the present piano score, the findings gathered therein shall now also to be made accessible for the musical practice. (Wolfgang M. Wagner, quoted from the foreword to the new Tannhäuser piano score)The piano score unites for the first time all four stages of the work (the score as of 1845, the score as of 1860, the Paris version as of 1861/62 with the complete French text of this version, and the Vienna version as of 1875) in a single excerpt for rehearsal and study practice, thus allowing the comparison of the versions, without sacrificing practicability. All variants are printed one after the other in the chronological sequence of the action on the stage, so that each of them can be explored in their context of action by simply turning over the pages. Only two variants rejected before the Paris premiere were printed separately in the appendix. A fascinating insight into Richard Wagner's thinking in terms of stage practice and into his very precise ideas of tonal balance, scenic details and role-conception are made possible by the quotations printed in key passages from his work On the Performance of Tannhäuser, published in 1852.For example, soon after the world premiere, Wagner suggested the deletion of bars in the orchestral part in the 4th scene of Act I, reasoning that […] due to the tremendous woodenness and self-consciousness of our usual supernumeraries, the impression of overwhelming liveliness, which was intended by me and which was to imply a heightening of the mood led up to by the liveliest manifestations of life, was not achieved. (piano reduction, p. 221)In the big ensemble scene at the end of Act II, Wagner puts in a comment at a certain passage, referring to the conductor and his great responsibility for tonal balance:The exclamations 'Ach, erbarm' dich mein!' require such a piercing emphasis that he [the performer of Tannhauser] as a mere, well-trained singer is not enough; it is but the highest dramatic art that has to provide him the energy of pain and desperation for an expression that must seem to break forth from the most gruesome depths of an awfully woeful heart, like a cry for salvation. The conductor has to ensure that the implied success is made possible for the principal singer by the most discrete accompaniment of the other singers as well as of the orchestra. (piano reduction, p. 367)3 (3. auch Picc.) · 2 · 2 · Bassklar. [nicht in Pariser F.] · 2 - 2 Ventilhr. · 2 Waldhr. · 3 Ventiltrp. · 3 · 1 [Pariser F.: Ophicléïde] - P. S. (Trgl. · Beck. · Tamb. · gr. Clarinet (also bassclarinet), violin and cello - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6244 Composed by Benjamin Schweitzer. This edition: performance score. Downloadable, performance score. Duration 14 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6244. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6244). The cycle of 27 lithographs on the Apocalypse of St. John created by Max Beckmann in his Dutch exile in 1941 inspired Benjamin Schweitzer to compose 27 musical ‘sheets’ as well. ‘The pictures are filled with an immediate aggressiveness and, at the same time, often with a strangely reserved symbolism.’ Some of the parts can be played in varying order, ‘almost like one can look at a cycle of pictures in chronological, systematic or random order.’ (Benjamin Schweitzer).

Electric guitar, 2 violas and cello - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47102 For electric guitar, 2 violas and cello. Composed by Gavin Bryars. This edition: set of parts. Downloadable, set of parts. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q47102. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47102). I had written the Cadman Requiem in 1989 for the Hilliard Ensemble in memory of my friend and sound engineer Bill Cadman, who was killed in the Lockerbie air crash. His death affected me very deeply and, pending a recording of this piece, Manfred Eicher asked if I might like to develop an instrumental work from this, using the same instrumentation for accompaniment and retaining the same opening bars as part of a new ECM album. The piece is after the Requiem therefore in the musical sense of being based on it, in the chronological sense of following on from it, and in the spiritual sense of representing that state which remains after mourning is (technically) over. I wrote the piece in Venice in September 1990 and finished it in Oslo on the day of the recording, where I added the electric guitar of Bill Frisell. This, I felt, blended particularly well with low strings (2 violas and cello). Coincidentally, having used certain distortion effects on the guitar, we found that we were recording on the twentieth anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix. Within the music I use one or two modified extracts from the Cadman Requiem itself, and from its common source Invention of Tradition, for which Bill Cadman had done the sound design. The piece is dedicated to the two Bills (Cadman and Frisell).
