Small Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890779 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Arranged by Sneakwood Editions. Baroque,Folk,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 32 pages. Sneakwood Editions #5799897. Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.890779). Georg Philipp Telemann – Polish Dances from the Rostock Manuscript TWV 45 (Danse d`Polones / Danse Polonie)Telemann was seduced by Polish music, especially by his dances and popular musicI became acquainted there and also in Krakau with Polish and Moravian music in its true, barbaric beauty […] […] it is impossible to imagine the fantastic musical ideas they presented between dances when the dancers rested and the musicians improvised music together [‘jammed’] to fill out the time. Anyone who paid very close attention could pick up in 8 days sufficient musical ideas to last a lifetime.(Telemann’s autobiography, published in Mattheson’s Ehren-Pforte, Hamburg, 1740)It is easy to understand, through Telemann’s own words, the great influence that Polish music and Polish dances had on Telemann. It was in 1705 when Telemann become Kapellmeister for the court of Count Erdmann II of Promnitz at Sorau (now Żary, in Poland), His career there was cut short in early 1706 by the hostilities of the Great Northern War but his contact with Polish music marked him for life. These Polish dances found in Rostock are a reflection of the music that Telemann heard and transcribed. A reflection of that barbaric beauty. The manuscript was discovered in 1986 at the University of Rostock. It consists of two volumes. One of the volumes contains the violin part and the other the bass part.

Two Ballets - Dances 268 and 273 from Terpsichore (Praetorius) for Wind Instruments

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522159 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance,Standards. Score and parts. 25 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3912497. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522159). By the time Michael Praetorius published his extensive dance collection entitled Terpsichore (terp-SIH-cory) in 1612, he was one of the most famous musicians in Germany. These Two Ballets are well-known and elegant dances and sure to add some sparkle to any concert event. They would make excellent partners for other dances in this series. This piece is arranged for virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments and percussion, with optional keyboard part.In this series, Renaissance Hits for Wind Instruments, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too. The flexible arrangement makes them playable by all sorts of non-standard ensembles. The keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The optional keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a small bass drum or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Â

Small Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025870 Composed by Traditional music from Cusco. Arranged by Sini Rueda. World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Sini Rueda #6424223. Published by Sini Rueda (A0.1025870). The Saqra de Paucartambo dance originated during the late 19th and early 20th century colonial period. It is one of the principal dances of the celebration of Virgen del Carmen in Paucartambo, Cusco - PeruÌ. Its main characters, which are little devils, bother the Virgen del Carmen during its traditional passacaglia dance by making jokes and climbing on the rooftops. The dancers wear fabulous out ts with lots of colors to represent the rainbow and sunrise. These clothes are ornamented and embroidered with shapes of prey birds, reptiles, applications, and rhinestones. The performers wear characteristic masks in the form of bats, pigs, cats, dogs, or other animals while also wearing claws, large wigs, handkerchiefs, and a colorful cane with sleighbells. This is an arrangement made for flute ensemble (C flutes). Each voice has a different difficulty starting at a very beginner level. It's rythmic character will make it fun and easy to play for little flutists. Enjoy!

Salzburg, den 31. Oktober 1762 (To my beloved son Wolfgang Amadeus for his sixth Name Day from his father Leopold Mozart.Salzburg,October 31st, 1962)This book had an important influence on Mozart’s early compositions. The pieces fall into three categories:The first category includes songs and dances of a folk nature such as Jägerlied, Schwabentanz Schmiedecourante, Waldhornstück. The second category provides examples of compositions by Scarlatti, Bach, Händel, e.g. Fantasias, Allegros, Arias. The third group presents contemporary dance movements in the French style like Minuets, Courantes, Polonaises and Rondi.Father Mozart included pieces in a variety of styles with the intention of helping Mozart not only to learn piano technique, but also elements of composition. The works are intentionally simple, one task for the boy being to fill out the incomplete harmonies. Overall, the technical standard is appropriate to the age and abilities of the player. Apart from its historical significance, the Notenbuch for Wolfgang Amadeus is a colourful collection of charming little pieces.

Large Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1129904 Composed by Wajdi Abou Diab. Arranged by Wajdi Abou Diab. Children,Classical,Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score and parts. 215 pages. W. Abou Diab #730313. Published by W. Abou Diab (A0.1129904). This collection of four short concert pieces for beginners is intended to introduce the new musicians, as well as the audience, to the world of Arabic music in a fun and enjoyable way, and is designed to make the ensemble practice easy and productive. Every piece introduces a scene from Arabic folklore, inviting the little musicians to discover the beauty of Arabic traditions and cultures. In some pieces, the musicians will be asked to perform some simple body percussion, and say some Arabic words, which will add some magic to the music! The first piece titled Dabkeh is a traditional Levantine dance that is still performed at weddings and public events in Arabic countries, in which the dancers hold their hands together and form a circle showing a scene of solidarity and unity. It is a high-energy dance that demands a great amount of physical effort and is usually performed by both men and women. The second piece takes us to a very special period for Arab people, called Ramadan. For a complete month, people enjoy gathering for the Iftar when the sun sets, after long fasting, then attending public events, and organizing cultural gatherings. The third piece is titled Raqsa, which means simply A Dance. The Arabic dance, mainly performed by a female dancer, is full of energy and beauty. Usually accompanied by hand clapping and percussion instruments, and sometimes singing too. The fourth piece takes us to the traditional Arabic wedding ceremonies, which sometimes continue for more than 5 consecutive days. At an Arabic traditional wedding, all the village gathers in the bride's or groom's home, participating in all the details of the preparations for the wedding, bringing food and gifts, and celebrating joyfully with music, songs, and dances.

German.CONTENT How does a town intended for children evolve, who lives in it, what forms of transport can be used to get around and how it is also possible that unpleasant moments occur in an urban community? These are all questions which Wir bauen eine Stadt answers in a playful and child-oriented mode. COMMENTARY Since 1926, Hindemith had been pursuing the objective of attracting children and amateur musicians to contemporary music through the composition of especially suitable musical works. In 1927, his musical-educational ambitions led among other projects to the involvement of the youth music movement in his plans for the Baden- Baden chamber music festival in which he was deeply involved in his capacity as member of the programme committee. Neue Musik Berlin 1930, a supplementary event following the Baden-Baden music festival, was to be devoted not only to radio plays, amateur choirs and electric music, but also to the field of ‘plays and songs for children’. The play for children Wir bauen eine Stadt was created in collaboration with the Berlin author Robert Seitz who provided the text and was premièred on 21 June 1930 by children aged between eight and twelve years old providing the final work in the concert Neue Musik Berlin 1930. The work swiftly achieved widespread dissemination and was available in a number of different languages within two years of its completion. Hindemith explained his pedagogical concept behind Wir bauen eine Stadt in a preface to the score as follows: ‘A play for children: this means that this work was more intended as a lesson and exercise for children themselves rather than for the entertainment of adult audiences. The form of the work can be altered according to the appropriate needs of the group of children involved: songs can be omitted and other musical pieces, dances or scenes inserted. An infinite number of children can participate in this work; apart from the minimum of three players for the “orchestraâ€, no specific instrumentation is specified. If numerous musicians are available (perhaps also those with instruments which are played in other registers than the pitches indicated in this work), these can be employed doubling at the octave of the two outer parts to achieve a more interesting texture. The music can additionally be livened up by tambourines, drums and other easily playable percussion. […]’ Alongside three instrumental movements, Hindemith’s play for children primarily consists of choral songs in verse form for one- and two-voice choir with a few simple individual solo parts. This classic children’s theatre composition has up to the present day retained its prominent place within the (school) theatre repertoire. Six pieces from this work were issued in a piano version for children in 1931 under the title: Wir bauen eine Stadt. Klavierstücke für Kinder. (S. Sch.-G.) 8 flutes (1. also Piccolo) - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q4798 Composed by Wilfried Hiller. This edition: score and parts. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 7 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q4798. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q4798). Already as a child, says Wilfried Hiller, he was fascinated by the music of The Magic Flute, particularly by Tamino's flute songs and Papageno's glockenspiel music. This lifelong fascination induced the composer to compose three little dances for the tonally charming instrumentation with eight flutes. The result are affectionate miniatures on themes from The Magic Flute which are a treat even for little upand-coming Taminos.
