Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792665 Composed by Jeff Reynolds. Arranged by Cherry Classics Music. Christian,Jewish,Sacred. Score and parts. 24 pages. Gordon Cherry #5320113. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792665). Here is a description of the Four Psalms for Four Trombones by Jeff Reynolds. Musical settings of The Psalms of David are a staple in the Compline world, and are indeed the musical nut of Compline. I composed these in modes for a choir of men, with countertenors and text, and thought these settings would be a soothing repast for the trombone world; maybe not for the 1st player. The lack of stems and meter is a way to get away from the rhythmic feel of western music and into the lumpy, arhythmic, text driven zone of chant. There are only 3 basic note lengths: a larger white note is a whole note; a smaller white note is a half note surrogate; and a black note is a quarter note. Be not anxious to get to the new phrase. Taking time for breaths is a good thing. Psalm 130 is a Penitential Psalm, with music in the acerbic style of Igor Stravinsky after the 2nd trombone solo from the Russian Easter of Korsakov. Mr. Reynolds has written settings for Psalms 4, 91 Qui habitat, 130 De profundis and 103. The Psalms are appropriate for moderately advanced to intermediate level performers.

2tpt. Hn. Tbn. tba - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM481 Composed by Roma Cafolla. Brass Quintet. Score and parts. 58 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM481. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM481). ISBN 9790570483808.Brass 4 All This piece was inspired by the brass section of the WNO, the importance of 'Music For All', and the need to make it accessible to children. A stately introduction opens the piece, with all the instruments passing the theme between them. This leads into a the main body of the piece, a bold, driving tune that contrasts with a more lyrical middle section before bursting out into fanfares of repeated notes to bring the music to a thrilling finish. Brass Neck The tuba is featured prominently in ths piece. The repeated motif drives the rhythm forward: 'Cry the tears for the freezing years. Just walk away' ... as the other players finally do. Marked Andantino and in Bb major the central section changes to Bb minor, where the horn and trombone carry the melody. This is then taken up be the second trumpet and the players stand as the music modulates back to Bb major. As each player finishes they sit down until the tuba is left to finish alone. Autumn Breeze A sultry September evening and a gentle breeze fans the last of the fading flowers. The family are gathered informally, and the music begins.... Marked Andante and with flowing descending quavers, the opening has interest for every player. The horn and then the trombone pick up the central theme, and this is then embellished by the trumpets. A gentle phrase marks the ending. Bankers Notes A letter drops on the mat. A final demand and the thought of the 'green paper rotting in their clutch' assails my mind. I write notes of a differnt kind! The opening is marked Vivace and is rather punchy, but soon settles into the main theme with driving rhythms throughout. The extended ending climaxes in rising staccato semiquavers for all.

Large Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Harpsichord,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575438 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by David Tobin, Jeff Meegan, and Julian Gallant. Baroque,Classical,Traditional. Score and parts. 49 pages. Audio Network Limited #184781. Published by Audio Network Limited (A0.575438). Autumn has perhaps one of the most famous themes in the set and we thought the whole orchestra should contribute to that. We’ve created more activity for the cellos, more dialogue between the parts, defined dynamics and a new continuo realisation for modern performance. The PDF provided includes 4 duplicates of the Violins, Viola and Cello parts as well as 2 duplicates of the Contrabass. This is to ensure you can print adequate amounts of parts when working with larger ensembles! ------------- You can find a video showcasing the whole score and a professional recording of the piece from Abbey Road here:https://youtu.be/wxaFjBibyLk -------------We hope you enjoy our arrangement and do tag us on social media if you use it @audionetwork and @meegantobinmusic. Brass Band. 185 pages. Lyons Music Services #46377. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767031). This is an arrangement for Brass Band of my Flute Octet of the same name. It will need at least a 1st section band to handle the last movement. This might be a good piece to use in an entertainments contest. There is quite a bit for the percussion to do which took some doing as the original had none. The four movements represent my thoughts about Canada and its people. 1. March for the Frontiersmen: Canada has a lot of wilderness that has not been spoiled by man. This movement represents the rugged frontiersmen pushing through the Canadian forests. 2. The Great White Cold: I imagined the bitter freezing cold and icy beauty of Canadian winters (not that I have ever experienced such) and I used some slightly unusual techniques to create the impression of a cold wind blowing across the arctic scenery. 3. Campfire Songs: I had this vision of the great outdoors with Canadian families going camping in the mountainous regions sitting round their campfire at night and singing songs. I had no idea at the time whether Canadians were campfire songsters or what kinds of songs they might choose, so I selected a number of ’folk’ songs from the Great Canadian Tune Book and incorporated them into this movement. 4. The New Found Land: This movement moves to Canada’s eastern seaboard and I imagined new emigrants to the country arriving at a busy harbour and seeing all the hustle and bustle of a lively community and sea port. With some difficulty the debarkees find their land legs but then become absorbed in the lively new world to which they have moved.

This work might be best described as 5 piano inventions. The music was written quite freely, allowing one note/sound to lead to the next. The ideas were continued in Four Miniatures for Clarinet, Cowbell, and Prepared Piano. Finally, these 5 pieces were rescored later for chamber orchestra.

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1473773 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Folk,Historic,Traditional. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #1051492. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1473773). This is one of the most popular and best-loved folksongs of all time, made famous by Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and many others. The song is in the Dorian mode and thought to have originated over four hundred years ago. Scarborough (SKAH-buh-ruh) is an English coastal town in the county of Yorkshire. It was occupied by the Romans during the fourth and fifth centuries but today has become the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast with a thriving fishing industry. There are many different versions of the lyrics and by the end of the 19th century, dozens of variants existed. The repeated chorus of “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” is significant. In olden times, these herbs had medicinal purposes. In addition, parsley was associated with comfort, sage with strength, rosemary with love and thyme with courage. The song takes the form of a melancholy dialogue between two individuals who were once lovers but now live separate lives. Each of them asks the listener to pass on a message to the other. The young man requests impossible tasks from his former lover, saying that if she can perform them, he will take her back. In return, she requests equally impossible things of him, saying she will perform her tasks when he performs his. The fact that all the tasks are impossible seems to imply that neither of them have any intention of becoming reunited. This arrangement stays well within the instrumental ranges and attempts to reflect the melancholy feeling of the lyrics. This arrangement would make a splendid encore piece for a recital.

This arrangement for woodwind instruments and piano stays well within the instrumental ranges and attempts to reflect the melancholy feeling of the lyrics. It would make an excellent addition to a woodwind recital.

Bass/baritone voice solo, violoncello and organ - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.6593-E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. 21st century, prayer. Score. 19 pages. Duration 10 minutes. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #6593-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.6593-E). English. The three songs Welcome Love (Ubi caritas), Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace, and Gaelic Blessing are interconnected motivically yet distinct in meter, tonality, and message. These three songs are interconnected motivically, yet distinct in meter, tonality, and message. Peace and reverence flow throughout. The songs are for a bass-baritone. Commissioned in 2003 by David Arnold, a North Carolina bass-baritone who is a soloist in the 80-voice Chancel Choir at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Mr. Arnold premiered these songs at Centenary with organist Ray Ebert and cellist Jennifer Alexandra Johnston on February 27, 2005. A new version for voice and piano was created in 2005. A transposition for lyric Baritone was added in 2015, commissioned by Ferris Allen (Baritone) and Linda Holzer (Pianist) of Little Rock, AR.The lyrics for Ubi Caritas are based on a new translation, by Christopher Brunelle, of the traditional Ubi Caritas Est Vera. A recurrent image in this translation is the gesture of welcoming: welcoming love, welcoming God, welcoming the friendly unfamiliar thought, welcoming Christ with us. The musical interpretation of welcoming is stepwise motion, either up or down, around a pitch center. Perhaps this might be heard as an opening of the door, or an opening of the heart. An interlude leads to the second song, Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace, a musical setting of the Prayer of Saint Francis. The accompaniment is sparse, with material reminiscent of the welcoming pattern in the first song. This song alternates between triple meter for the thematic sections (Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace) and duple meter for the more recitative sections (O Divine Master...). The music ends as it began, with simple open fifths accompaniment, this time filling in the chords to express the fullness of the lyrics born to eternal life.A second interlude provides the bridge to the third song, Gaelic Blessing. The text for this song is a series of blessings for peace. The gentle chordal arpeggiations in the piano are intended to provide a peaceful accompaniment. [Once again, the stepwise intervals and recurrent regular rhythms relate to the first song.]In keeping with the simplicity and repetition of the text, the music is formed by a series of four-measure phrases (blessings). The blessings are similar in contour, each spanning an interval of a fourth. Growth is achieved through repetition and some dynamic contrast. However, the principal aesthetic of this song is constancy and gentle flow. Only at the end of the song, when the voice descends into the deep range, is the melodic contour altered, and dynamic contrast introduced. As the voice ends on low tones, the piano line rises, perhaps to the source of peace.Duration: 10 min.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4308 Composed by Giorgio Mirto. Score. 24 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4308. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4308). Following a recent experience on the jury of a guitar competition, I noted with great pleasure that Giorgio Mirto, with whom I had shared the role of juror, wanted to celebrate the experience of the competition - during from which we discovered that we had had a great affinity of thought - with something which could endure over time and not evaporate as often happens in short and occasional meetings between musicians. He did it as a true composer, which he is, and dedicated to me a very beautifully crafted Suite to which I allowed myself to collaborate at least formally, by suggesting titles for the four movements. This is how Suite n.1 was born, a piece that does not strictly respect the formal rules of the Baroque era, but reinterprets and reuses them in a new key. The work's obvious late Baroque inspiration led me to find titles that invited the performer to delve deeper into the work's aesthetic inspiration. So I suggested to Giorgio that he title the four movements with something that linked their content to four greats of the 18th century. German masters. The prelude has thus become from Eisenach because of its sometimes improvised Bach-like atmosphere, the second movement, vaguely toccata, speaks an organ language in the manner of Buxtehude (who lived in Lübeck), the slow movement has a Handelian quality - and Handel was born in Halle - and the last movement, far from being a true Chaconne, undoubtedly has the latter's taste for variation and ostinato, typical traits of Telemann who lived in Magdeburg. The cities that appear in the titles are therefore indelible to the authors cited. Furthermore, one should not think that the style of the work is in any way German, given that Giorgio Mirto expresses himself in a very joyful language that synthesizes modality with minimalism, all seasoned with a a nod to Pink's progressive rock Floyd. or a Mike Oldfield... The result of this mixture of ideas, inspirations and styles is a work that personally I never tire of reading and rereading, for the freshness that emanates from it and for the climate expressive which rises, nourishing itself with full efficiency. We ultimately cannot ignore that the note B, the one which marks in a minor way some of the most expressive works of the guitar repertoire, from the study of Sor which made generations of students fall in love with the guitar, until to that of Frank Martin's Four Pieces via La Catedral di Barrios, is the modal fulcrum of the entire Suite: it is true that the Prelude begins with a clear chord in E minor and lingers on an open ending in A minor , but it almost seems that the initial E serves as a launching pad for a continuation of the work in which the dominant, that is to say the B, is the true musical North, the pole star which guides us in the other three movements until the end of the Chaconne de Magdebourg. I wish Giorgio and our Suite great longevity and a favorable destiny in the complex and complex world of contemporary guitar composition.

David McKeown #714426. Published by David McKeown (A0.1112352). The most popular of Scott Joplin’s piano rags during his lifetime, The Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films. This version for Alto Flute and Piano includes all four sections of the original composition. The tempo in recorded versions varies widely between 72 and 126, so the marking of 92 is a suggestion only. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around four minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing, syncopated rhythms and light articulation. Click the YouTube link to hear a full performance of the clarinet version of this arrangement. It began like this:Sing Ho! For the life of a Bear. When he had got as far as this, he scratched his head, and thought to himself That's a very good start for a song, but what about the second line? He tried singing Ho, two or three times, but it didn't seem to help. Perhaps it would be better, he thought, if I sang Hi for the life of a Bear. So he sang it . . . but it wasn't. Very well, then, he said, I shall sing that first line twice, and perhaps if I sing it very quickly, I shall find myself singing the third and fourth lines before I have time to think of them, and that will be a Good Song. Now then:Sing Ho! for the life of a Bear! Sing Ho! for the life of a Bear! I don't much mind if it rains or snows, 'Cos I've got a lot of honey on my nice new nose! I don't much care if it snows or thaws, 'Cos I've got a lot of honey on my nice clean paws! Sing Ho! for a Bear! Sing Ho! for a Pooh! And I'll have a little something in an hour or two! He was so pleased with this song that he sang it all the way to the top of the Forest, ... etc.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.943859 Composed by Jonah Koppitz. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 1 pages. Jonah Koppitz #5748861. Published by Jonah Koppitz (A0.943859). The first thing that you should know about this piece is that it breaks nearly every rule of counterpoint that it can. To me, this composition represents the antithesis of how classical composers thought to compose. By directly contradicting the rules they follow and still creating music, it shows that stiff rule formats and limits on what makes good music are not necessary and oftentimes restrict creative composing. My only hope is that, if Johann Joseph Fux were alive today, he’d see my work as an abomination of all the rules he holds so dear.My Ruleset:1. In sixth species counterpoint (countercounterpoint/anticounterpoint), you may write as many notes as desired in your new melody for each note in the cantus firmus.2. The first note and the last note must not form either an octave, unison, or a fifth with the cantus firmus.3. The penultimate note of your melody should not be an even scale degree.4. Augmented Fourths must resolve down and Diminished Fifths must resolve up.5. You may use parallel motion very recklessly because it obscures the independence of the voices.6. The harmonic interval formed between the voices on the downbeat of every measure may not be a perfect/major consonance-unison, third, fifth, sixth or octave. Diminished, Augmented, and Minor are fine.7. The interval formed between the voices on the second beat of every measure may not be a major third or major sixth.8. The overall shape of your melody should have a single high-point, preferably as far from the middle as is reasonable.9. Except for on the first beat of a measure, Consonant intervals are only allowed if preceded by a dissonant interval on a strong beat.10. Every Chord is fair game.11. The interval between the first beat of each measure should alternate between even numbers and odd numbers.12. Leaps must prepare, leap, and resolve in the same direction and may be greater than a fifth.13. Functional Harmony is for cowards who let chords tell them what to do.
