C Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piccolo,Synthesizer - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1212146 Composed by See description. Arranged by Tim Labor. 19th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Opera. Individual part. 65 pages. Tim Labor #809664. Published by Tim Labor (A0.1212146). Patented in 1928 by Russian/Soviet television and surveillance researcher Leon Theremin, the instrument named for him is one of the world’s oldest electronic musical instruments. As a performer, the Thereminist pays some prices. They do not touch their instrument when playing, they cannot operate the device with people in range of the sensors (there are no Theremin sections in symphony orchestras), and compared to other instruments there are few teachers. Learning to play a Theremin is a lonely experience.Enter the public domain and the Digital Age, where increased online resources for listening to music on free streaming services and other platforms, form a special opportunity to jam.The Theremin Play-Along Book is a collection of twenty-eight imaginary parts for classical compositions that allow the Thereminist to solo along with existing recordings, integrate into a Western orchestral or chamber concert, or hone playing and listening skills by singing in an online shower. The volume includes selections from Puccini, Verdi, Faure, Debussy and even adaptations of Wagner's Liebestod and Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Acoustic Guitar,Banjo,Bass Guitar,Drums,Electric Guitar,Fiddle,Flute,Mandolin,Piano,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1414993 By Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. By A.P. Carter. Arranged by Cascia Talbert. Christian,Country. 81 pages. Cascia Talbert #996726. Published by Cascia Talbert (A0.1414993). Can the Circle Be Unbroken (By and By) is a country/folk song reworked by A. P. Carter from the hymn Will the Circle Be Unbroken? by Ada R. Habershon and Charles H. Gabriel. The song's lyrics concern the death, funeral, and mourning of the narrator's mother. The song first gained attention due to the Carter Family. The song has been recorded by many groups and musicians: Blind James Campbell, Bob Dylan, The Band, The Staple Singers, Clara Ward Singers, John Fahey, Roy Acuff, Joan Baez, The Chieftains, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Ralph Stanley, The Black Crowes, Kristin Hersh, John Lee Hooker, Bill Monroe, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Pentangle, Spacemen 3, Country Joe McDonald, John Statz, Spirit of the West with The Wonder Stuff, Mavis Staples, The Felice Brothers, Johnny Cash, Gregg Allman, the Neville Brothers, Jeff Buckley, Moby, and Agnes Chan. Its refrain was incorporated into the Carl Perkins song Daddy Sang Bass and the Atlanta song Sweet Country Music. It is primarily performed in gospel, bluegrass and folk, but versions in other genres exist. Most versions of the song use the alternate title Will the Circle Be Unbroken. In 1998, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. This arrangement is for a country/bluegrass band with flute and vocal.

Strings Flute,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256762 By Alec Keith, Matt Weiss, Octava Chamber Orchestra. By David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,21st Century. Full Performance. Duration 628. David Warin Solomons #850134. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1256762). Performed here by Alec Keith (flute), Matt Weiss (violin) and the Octava Chamber Orchestra under guest conductor Ian AlvarezWesterly is inspired by the old English folk song Westron Wynde and by the Renaissance masses based on that folk songIt is an expanded version of Celebration originally written for James Pellerite and his North American Native flute [NAF]In order to make the piece accessible to a wider range of performers this version uses a concert flute, with wider range and with just a few of the NAF decorations, and the violin solo part has also been expanded, resulting in a miniature Double Concerto. Westerly uses four distinct themes and weaves them into a joyful whole. The flute soloist introduces himself with the traditional call of the North American Native flute (a repeated minor third phrase), which reappears from time to time in the rest of the piece, and then embarks upon a sort of jig in E flat major (second theme). The violin soloist copies these flute phrases but then introduces the third theme of the work in the related key of C minor, and the string orchestra comes in. This third tune is based on the old Westron Wynde melody but it uses an unusual rhythm (3 3 2) and the excitement gradually begins to mount. So the two soloists rhapsodise on the various tunes and permutations along with the orchestral strings, mixing the various tunes together. In due course the fourth theme comes in, and it is quite surprising how it fits in with the E flat major - C minor interplay, since it is merely a 12 tone row. It follows some of the traditions of the 20th Century atonal composers, but, due to the context in which it is set, it takes on a warmth seldom found in atonal music.

E-Flat Tenor Horn,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1416508 Composed by Greg Patmore. 21st Century,Classical. Score and individual part. 11 pages. Gregory Patmore #998187. Published by Gregory Patmore (A0.1416508). Inspired by the western islands and highlands of Scotland, this is a beautiful but challenging showpiece for Eb tenor horn (alto horn) and piano. Virtuosic, dramatic, evocative, lyrical, exciting for performers and rewarding for an attentive audience. A rhspdody in the form of a single movement which subdivides into an opening theme followed by three main sections, each derived from elements of the opening theme. First a leisurely dance with a scottish lilt, then a peaceful central section building to a dramatic peak and falling away, then into a virtuosic, eccentric finale. The whole piece is stylish, with intensity, but also lightness of touch and even a little humour!

Small Ensemble Flute,Harpsichord,Mandolin,Piano,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017681 Composed by Gordon Jackson. Celtic,Classical,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. Gordon Jackson #6439147. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017681). The Western HeightsThis is a little piece I composed without a specific form in mind. Although it’s in 3/4 it’s neither courante nor galliard, waltz nor minuet. It just is. Unusually for me, the chordal accompaniment is written for harpsichord (or any keyboard instrument), in order to get the full arpeggiation not possible on my octave mandola or bouzouki. The Western Heights, in Dover, used to be a really fun place to go; a barracks inter alia for a French invasion that never quite happened. Miles of tunnels built into a mountainside with rotten drawbridges, very steep stone staircases and plenty of rats. I used to climb inside and spend hours wandering around in the dark stumbling over debris, squeezing through narrow gaps, climbing walls. It’s been taken over now by various doers of good and made ‘safe’. I think you have to pay to get in. Back in the day one could be Indiana Jones for a while and have a truly great time.

Tenor voice solo, SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8322-E Composed by David Conte. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Americana, Children, Creation/Nature, Hope/Assurance. Instrument part. 15 pages. Duration 5 minutes, 42 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8322-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8322-E). UPC: 600313483226. English. The three a cappella choral pieces that comprise “A Whitman Triptych†were composed between 2012 and 2014. O Setting Sun was commissioned by the Madison Chamber Choir, Madison, Wisconsin, Anthony Cao, conductor, and was premiered on April 20th, 2012. “What is the Grass†was composed for Cappella SF, Ragnar Bohlin, conductor, and is being premiered on tonight’s concert. Facing West was commissioned in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge by the International Orange Chorale, Zane Fiala, conductor, and was premiered on May 27th, 2012. I first set Whitman to music in 1986,when I adapted part of “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed†as the basis for my composition “Invocation and Dance.†I went on to set “Good-Bye, My Fancy†for Male Chorus and Soprano Saxophone in 1992, and “Song of the Open Road†for Mixed Chorus and Piano in 2004. Like so many composers, I have found the visionary quality of Whitman’s verse inspiring; the vigor and intensity of the poetry seem naturally to draw out music. “What is the Grass?†is also an adaptation of a much longer poem, one of Whitman’s deepest, and most mysterious. The poem begins as a child-like meditation on grass; as hope, as an embodiment of new life and new growth in the plant world. Then suddenly there is a somber turn with the line “And now it seems to me the beautiful uncut hair of graves.†Here Whitman enters an extended mediation on how grass connects life and death, informed by his experiences in the Civil War. Hope returns with the line: “They are alive and well somewhere,†leading to the mysterious final line: “And to die is different from what anyone supposed, and luckier…†Here Whitman affirms that death can be an initiation into a broader participation of existence. In the words of poet Ivan M. Granger, Whitman offers a “Zen-like riddle that doesn’t offer an answer so much as a pathway of questioning.†My musical setting follows Whitman’s exploration, first taking a child’s point of view, expressed with lilting melodies set in a lively compound meter. The entry of the tenor soloist indicates a change of mood to the serious. The first mood returns, leading to a climax on the words “And led forward life…â€, set in 9-part harmony. The mood turns reverent, as the tenor soloist intones: “All goes onward and outward; nothing collapses.†The piece ends with a tone of gentle, slightly ironic questioning. -David ConteDuration: 5:42

Score and parts. 65 pages. Sean Mallow #109675. Published by Sean Mallow (A0.495112). The Journey for Percussion Ensemble is for 8 percussionist. Written for early advanced High School or early college groups, the piece tells a story about taking a journey from light to dark, moving from good times and bad, and coming out a better person for it. The piece starts off with a quiet waltz, lullaby-esque, providing a tonal anchor and tranquility. As it moves into the next section, we hear the first main melodic idea. While still maintaining this idea of calm and ambient energy, the main theme should be reflective of an old spaghetti western film. The vibraphonist should play loud and proud. When the piece moves into the heavier 6/8 section, the battery should be sensitive to the melodic instruments. There should be a quiet forward energy weaving through the entire piece.

The piece was written for Gamelan Galak Tika, a Balinese gamelan in residence at MIT that has worked with electric instruments many times in the past, but this is certainly the first time a traditional Balinese gamelan has shared the stage with robotic instruments. In other ways, though, there is something very natural about these combinations: they reflect the way we all experience music in the 21st century. It could also be argued that this is simply an extension of the way music has always progressed and changed, as Chinese shawms morphed into oboes, and exotic middle eastern percussion instruments, like the cymbal and triangle, worked their way into the symphony orchestra. Heavy Metal engages the full force of two ensembles, Galak Tika and Ensemble Robot, as well as a living history of electroacoustic instruments, from the vintage lyricon to the Whirlybot. The sounds implicit in both senses of the title find their way into new combinations of struck bronze and excitable circuitry. Heavy Metal is based on American hard rock music from the late 1970’s through the early 1990s. The idea started as a pun, because the keys of many Balinese gamelan instruments are made of metal, but when I began studying the melodic ideas and rhythms in heavy metal music, I found that they leant themselves very well to gamelan. The problem was that a gamelan has a very specific sound and limited timbral variation, the sounds of hit metal and skin. I feel that the sounds of the gamelan become much more interesting when combined with string sounds. Also, the gamelan uses a pentatonic scale so I am using western instruments and robots to expand the sound universe to a full spectrum. In this piece, the gamelan and the western/robotic instruments play separately – rhythmically they are together, and they are working through the same material at the same time, but the western instruments and robots do not play the 5 notes that the gamelan plays, and more often than not they stay out of that key (a variation of E Major, the gamelan tuning being C#, D#, E, G, and A) altogether. This creates a sense of two harmonic worlds co-existing and cooperating, the West and our technology with Bali and their technology, much more primitive but very powerful nonetheless.About the ComposerChristine Southworth (b. 1978) is a composer and video artist based in Lexington, Massachusetts, dedicated to creating music born from a cross-pollination of sonic ideas. Small Ensemble Double Bass,Guitar,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726262 Composed by Traditional Mexican. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Folk,Latin,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. Joel Jacklich #6717923. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.726262). Adiós, Mamá Carlota is a song from the Mexican Civil War, when the Mexican peasants rose up to fight against the Emperor Maximiliano. The Carlota referred to in the title and refrain, is the Empress Carlota, who fled to Europe seeking aid for her husband (without success). While she was in Europe, her husband was captured and executed. The words by Vicente Riva Palacios (1832-1896) are a parody on the song Adiós, Oh Patria MÃa by Ignacio RodrÃguez Galván. The accompaniment is scored for two requintos, guitar, and string bass. A requinto is a small (3/4 sized) melody guitar that is tuned a fourth higher than the normal guitar. If a requinto is not to be found, the parts can be played on regular guitars. This piece is often played during Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) celebrations. Cinco de Mayo is a holiday celebrating the Battle of Puebla in 1862, when the peasant army of Mexico defeated a superior force of the mercenary French Imperial troops of Maximiliano. The holiday is not often celebrated in Mexico, but is more often celebrated in the United States among Mexican-Americans in the Southwestern United States.

Film/TV,Multicultural,Pop,Praise & Worship,Singer/Songwriter,World. 30 pages. Alicia Dominguez #957004. Published by Alicia Dominguez (A0.1372693). In these 112 measures for the twinning of Istanbul-Algeciras I have wanted to incorporate concepts from both parties, with the respect that the composition of Don Joan Manuel Serrat deserves in which in 1970 he sang “Mare Nostrum†(Nostrum mare more correctly in Latin classic, being one of the popular anthems of Spain and therefore a cultural heritage. Therefore it can be used instrumentally or if required, there is a number in the score of which, although the guitar has a melody and one of the choral voices, with two guitars, or make two choral voices or join with your own melody, use both bowed string instruments and plucked strings, etc.Likewise, there are two voices, of which a single voice can use the phrasings of both one voice and the other, giving it its own personality. The tempo will be whatever the interpretation itself wants, much slower, without accelerating so much between the beginning and the moment of the song itself. I have incorporated some instruments into the arrangement as examples:Buzukibouzouki, like the sazturco and the Lebanese Buzuq, which belong to the same family of Buzuki instruments. And as percussion only percussion The Turkish Darbuka is a percussion musical instrument The Turkish Darbuka is a percussion musical instrument from Turkey. The Turkish Darbuka have a high range of low and high resonant tones that sound between the two registers; serious (Dum) and acute (Tek). The edge or lip allows for finger breaking techniques that are not possible in the Egyptian Darbuka. And the Tombak, also called Dombak Ozarb, is a chalice-shaped drum, traditionally built with a hollowed-out biker or walnut trunk covered with skin at one end. With the beginning and among the work itself I wanted to give place to the Bashraf (Turkish Pesrev and Persian Pishraw, which means Overture) and the Sama'i (Turkish Sam Semai) Instrumental genre that is used in the Turkish court and in Sufi music . They were introduced into the Arab world before the 19th century. And also give place in his forms to the Ottoman composer Ismail Hakkibei (1866-1927). Unite Serrat with Hakkibey with this Istanbul-Algeciras work.Although the Bashraf is always made up of four points, Khanat (Plural Dekhana) or Hanne in Turkish, which are always followed by a chorus (Taslim / Teslim), its structure being Khana 1+ Taslim, Khana 2, Khana 3+ Taslim, Khana 4 + Taslim. The fragments must be incorporated since the main base is the Mediterranean pop theme. For this reason, its original rhythm is the Defâhte (In Arabic, Faakhito Fahitah Turki. Being a 20/4 time signature subdivided into 5 sub-groups of 4/4 where the complete cycle coincides with the phrases of the theme. Without forgetting that in music Arabic with the oriental rhythm Lsaada Duyukde 8/8 making a cycle for each measure of 4/4, that is, cycles per phrase, if those written for Western reading in 4/4 with double durations and simplicity. Unit of time: quarter note , coincides in two phrases of 5 measures per staff for a better understanding of the form of the piece, also within a written Arabic version of the theme the unit of time is eighth note 8/8 in G, but it had to be incorporated into Mediterráneo and it is always It is more feasible to think of the human voice as being more limited than instrumentation such as flute, plucked leather instruments, and bowed string instruments.Instrumentation:FluteGuitar 1 (1st voice melody)Guitar 2 (2nd voice melody)Bass (accompaniment and chords)BuzukiSazDarbukaTombakVoice 1st2nd voiceSMATB Voices1st violin2nd violinViolaCellosDouble basses.

Euphonium Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1426054 Composed by Mason Williams. Arranged by Sarah Houle. Classical,Contest,Festival,Pop,Rock,Standards. Individual part. 6 pages. SARAH L HOULE #1006847. Published by SARAH L HOULE (A0.1426054). Classical Gas by Mason Williams, arranged for Solo Unaccompanied Euphonium by Sarah Houle, 2024.What a lovely (and fun!) piece this has been to arrange for solo euphonium! Originally for guitar, it was quite an interesting task figuring out how best to outline the chord structures for a monophonic brass instrument. The arrangement includes a slower, more simple introduction, development sections, chorus sections, and sort of an outtro. The piece is a lovely cross between expressive and technical classical feel and a dancing/driving popular music format complete with verses, choruses and bridges.Often, in the places where the original guitar plays two or more notes in chordal fashion, the euphonium will either play grace notes or an altered rhythm to accommodate the chord structure. The grace notes are always slurred, their length designated by the note values used. Many of the passages are fully articulated rather than slurred, so care will need to be taken to play in the correct style for the arrangement to be performed well. Technical passages, especially those with syncopation, must dance. It is highly recommended to listen to an original guitar recording to get this feel!Additionally, the euphonium will need to breathe, so there are also breathing 'suggestions' in the arrangement. The arrangement doesn't stretch into the lowest euphonium range, but it does hang out on multiple high C's and B's in every chorus, so there is a bit of difficulty there in retaining stability through those passages.Enjoy this arrangement of Classical Gas for Unaccompanied Solo Euphonium!

The Big Book of Pentatonics & Fourths is a series of four and six note groups that are developed into chromatic and diatonic lines. The concept of note groups was presented to me by the great pianist Hal Galper at the Jamey Aebersold clinic in 1980. I was young at the time but was hip to pentatonics so his ideas stayed with me and I’ve expanded on them in my own fashion.DescriptionA pentatonic scale is any group of five notes that cover the span of an octave. There are literally hundreds of pentatonic scales in Western music, and hundreds more that use alternate tunings. The Big Book of Pentatonics & Fourths will focus on the most common pentatonic scale, the major pentatonic and its relative minor. In the key of C the notes of the major pentatonic are: C D E G A. If you start on C and go up in perfect 5ths, you will get all the notes of the major pentatonic. The relative minor scale in A minor is A C D E G. If you start on E and go up in perfect 4ths, you will get the minor pentatonic in A.This book is a series of four and six note groups that are developed into chromatic and diatonic lines. Choir Sacred Instrumental Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: JX.00-35059 Composed by Sheldon Curry. This edition: InstruPax. Choral (Sacred); Choral Worship Cantata; Larger Works; Performance Music Ensemble; Worship Resources. Christmas; Sacred; Winter. Part(s). 62 pages. Jubilate Music Group - Digital #00-35059. Published by Jubilate Music Group - Digital (JX.00-35059). English.Looking for something out of the ordinary for Advent/Christmas? Imagine Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a young Kentucky woman singing her praise song to God (Magnificat) in an Appalachian setting. Then picture Simeon as an elderly West Virginia coal miner/preacher voicing his grateful joy (Nunc Dimittis) at viewing the baby boy Jesus in the temple -- an event that he has waited for his whole life. Translate the traditional Latin of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis into present-day language. Both these events combine to form the refreshingly different extended anthem Mary & Simeon. Written in a natural, unpretentious style for violin (fiddle), cello, and bluegrass instruments, this one-of-a-kind setting of time-honored words promises to bring unexpected joy to worship during this holy season. It includes the congregation in a Gloria that ends both pieces. Extensive performance notes are included in the anthem. Use the anthems together in one service, as part of an Appalachian-themed Advent service, or use them separately on their individual liturgical special days. Whatever use you make of them, these memorable, worshipful offerings surprise and energize worship for your choir and congregation. InstruPax includes parts for piano, bass, acoustic guitars (and optional mandolin), fiddle (violin), cello, and optional drums.
