Every artist who has ever entertained us with this classic Hoagy Carmichael creation has jumped right to the chase, that being the verse that begins with Geor - gia,.. Wikipedia refers to the missed component as, the commonly excised introductory verse. Well, I took a good look at that introductory verse, and concluded that there was a pretty good reason nobody sang it. It needed more work than the writers had put into it, in my opinion, which is a nice way of saying that it sucked. So I fixed it, so to speak. I believe that it stands up to scrutiny.The melody line throughout has some modifications in note lengths. It is a piece originally written in cut time, which it isn't really, since it is always being sung in a moody fashion you don't normally expect to find written in 2/2 time. I think maybe that Hoagy had a secret desire to write for movie musicals.I adapted the chord diagrams to make them more suitable for playing along with on the guitar. This arrangement will appeal to anyone who has ever studied Mickey Baker's jazz guitar chords. As I see it, every song is still a tune and should be fun to play. Georgia is no exception.

(For that reason, most Austrians are merely mildly aggravated by what is otherwise a lovely tune.) The tiny edelweiss (it means noble white) flower is indeed a prominent symbol of Austria, present on many things Austrian you would find in any souvenir store across the country. Edelweiss was a late addition to the Sound Of Music score; Richard Rodgers thought Capt. Von Trapp needed a song to sing to his country as he fled the Nazis. It was also the last song of the Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration before Hammerstein died. This arrangement features an echoic yodeling at beginning and end. It's scored for two trumpets, horn, baritone TC (trombone is more forceful than necessary, although I've included the part with this package) and tuba.If you need alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.BCMW162). 9 x 12 in inches.Desert Miniatures: Insects was commissioned by Trio Sonora: Robert BeDont, Travis Jones, and Martin VonKlompenberg. The piece reflects on my time living in Tucson, AZ and all of the different types of insects that thrive in the Sonoran Desert. Each miniature selects a particular behavior or quality each insect possesses and explores it musically. Separate from the musical depiction of the insects was the central concept quasi-unison and the hyper-instrument. Instead of treating the three parts as individual important and mutually exclusive, the parts work together to form an imaginary instrument capable of polyphonic sound production. Through micro-polyphony and rhythmic irregularity, this hyper-instrument performs quasiunison gestures that resemble columns of sound rather than melodic lines.I. Many Hued GrasshopperI encountered many of these grasshoppers while hiking in the late summer and early fall months. They are brightly colored with purple and red accents against green wings and powerful light-green legs. As I would walk through tall grasses in the mountains, the path would explode with many grasshoppers leaping all around me. These bursts as well as the grasshopper's signature buzzing sound are the focal point of the miniature.II. Cactus BeeThese bees are solitary and live underground. They collect the nectar of cactus flowers. The bassoons combine to create a flurry of activity representing a particular bee going about her daily business of collecting nectar and returning to her subterranean nest.III.Arizona Red Spotted PurpleThese butterflies employ an ingenious evolutionary tactic for survival: mimicry. They look very similar to the Pipevine Swallowtail, a blueish-black butterfly that is noxious for birds to eat. Even more, the caterpillar of the Arizona Red Spotted Purple employs mimicry through resembling bird droppings or other objectionable material. Mimicry is the primary musical device employed in this miniature.IV. Fire AntAnyone who has ever accidentally stepped on a Fire Ant hill knows how painful the stings are. This unfortunately happened to me on my first day as anArizona resident. While each ant is an individual, the workers carry out simple and direct tasks. It was this quasi-unison behavior plus the martial and driving force of survival that informed the musical treatment of this miniature.
