Has the Rain a Father? [Piano OR Guitar]
Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.5…

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596568 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4717703. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596568). Has the Rain a Father? This piece exists in two versions: Piano solo Guitar solo (without or with electronic sounds) The piano version has no huge secrets (to clarify: the pedal is used da capo al fine without interruption). The guitar version is written in three keys: E, G and A (Dorian). The performer may choose one or another score at their convenience. The guitar version can also use effects of all kinds, or amplifiers that are not always used in classical music. At the end of 2019 an album will be released on Spotify and other online music platforms with both versions of the piece (solo piano and acoustic guitar with electronic sounds). As an example of the amplitude that the composer expects from the performers: in this record production, the guitar signal is split in two parts, panned to the right and left, and different types of effects are applied to each channel (chorus, delay, reverb of different kinds and with different parameters). The original guitar signal is also in the center. Of course, there are also the electronic sounds themselves. A preliminary version can be heard here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/has-the-rain-a-father Has the Rain a Father? is a quote from the bible, specifically from the book of Job 38:28. It is part of a series of rhetorical questions that tend to convince Job of his ignorance. Has the Rain a Father? was composed in Bremen (Germany) on March 17, 2019 (plus details to the piano part on March 27). Its duration is about 4:30. I asked some people about the wording of the title. Among the meaningful answers: Which wording is better, Has the rain a Father? or Does the Rain have a father? (Bible, Job, 38:28). It will be used as the title of a music piece for piano. Has the Rain a Father? is slightly unusual, and thus is attention-grabbing, something you want in a title. It sounds more biblical, calling attention to the allusion. In ordinary speech the Does the . . . version is more common, but for a title you don’t necessarily want common. (Johnny Wilson, former Writer and Magazine Editor (1973-1999))

Bass Trombone,Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018890 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6056111. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018890). Programme Notes: Icarus Also Flew takes its title from the first line of the poem Failing and Flying by Jack Gilbert. He is referring to the classical myth of Daedalus and Icarus, an inventive father and son who bravely escape from their imprisonment in a tower by collecting the disposed feathers of seabirds, then fashion wings out of them and fly away. While the story is often treated as a morality tale--listen to your elders, don’t get cocky like the young man, Icarus, who, in such an understandable state of elation, ascended too close to the sun thus causing the wings to melt and his tumbling to his Mediterranean death--what Jack Gilbert reminds us is how regardless of one’s failure, the sheer transcendental experience of mortal flight remains glorious and unforgettable. Icarus’s fall was not into a legacy of disdain and oblivion, but in truth, he had come to the end of his triumph. This piece was the first of a series I composed during the Covid-19 quarantine conditions of 2020, to serve as potential contemporary preludes for each of Ludwig van Beethoven’s nine symphonies--his two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was this year!--though they can all stand on their own on any program. The connection, in this case, is with his celebrated fifth symphony in C minor--the Fate symphony, as it is commonly known. I’ll let the listener find their own connections.About the Composer:Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Instrumental Solo,Tin Whistle - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1164141 By Louis Armstrong. By Bob Thiele and George David Weiss. Arranged by Cindy Blevins. Pop,Standards. Individual part. 10 pages. Cindy Blevins #764491. Published by Cindy Blevins (A0.1164141). Note: You can see an excerpt of both the solo without fingerings and the solo with fingerings. The blank pages you may see in the samples are there on purpose to avoid showing more than the music sample. This arrangement is for solo (unaccompanied) Tin Whistle. You receive the tin whistle part without fingering diagrams, the same part but WITH fingering diagrams and a comprehensive fingering chart for your tin whistle. So if you enjoy playing the notes on the staff, there is a part for you! And if you need the diagrams for learning, or for using every time, there's a part for you! Tin whistle isn't just for Irish music, it is extremely versatile and fun to play! Please note, my Tin Whistle is a high D. I write for D whistle because it is a very common key that many people have. The fingering chart I put together shows the D scale, with chromatic fingerings you may need some day! But if you're playing a different key of whistle, you can also play this piece. It is unaccompanied, and all keys of tin whistle are fingered the same. So follow the part with diagrams if you need to.If you have a pianist in your life, there is a piano and tin whistle arrangement of this piece listed separately (I am not allowed to bundle them for reasons of copyright).

Brass Quartet Baritone Horn TC,E-Flat Cornet,Euphonium,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1244746 By Roy Orbison. By Bill Dees and Roy Orbison. Arranged by G L Harvey. 20th Century,Film/TV,Instructional,Pop,Wedding. 28 pages. G L Harvey #839659. Published by G L Harvey (A0.1244746). This massive hit by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees has been carefully arranged for Brass Quartet as follows:Part 1. Soprano Cornet/Trumpet in Eb or Cornet/Trumpet in BbPart 2. Cornet/Trumpet in BbPart 3. Tenor Horn in Eb, Horn in F, Baritone in Bb and Trombone (bass clef)Part 4. Euphonium/Baritone/Trombone (treble and bass clef) and Bass in EbOptional Percussion (Drum Kit or Cajon)Note that this allows for a variety of less common instrumental combinations, for example, Trombone Quartet, or 2 Euphoniums and 2 Basses, or even 2 Tenor Horns (playing from parts 1 & 2 in Bb) plus Euphonium (playing from Horn in F) and Eb Bass (playing from Euphonium in treble clef). With school and amateur ensembles in mind, this arrangement is designed for intermediate players and above.  Percussion (Drum Kit or Cajon) can be added for additional colour if desired, but is not essential for a convincing performance.  The music is faithful in spirit to the original, with everyone having their moments in the spotlight as themes are shared by the players across the ensemble.  The PDF is 28 pages in length (portrait A4) and includes a score and parts plus optional percussion, with additional parts as described above to allow substitution  where required for non standard ensembles. The duration of the piece is about 2.20 minutes.  Look out for other instrumental versions by the same publisher.

(Choral) - Digital Download SKU: H1.8606DP Author Collections. Hymntune, General Worship. Hymn Collection. 163 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #8606DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.8606DP). Shirley Erena Murray. While not much concerned about posterity, I offer this collection for the here and now, as a kind of spiritual autobiography of the years since writing 'Touch the Earth Lightly' (Hope, 2009). The themes will tell you that I have not ceased to centre on peace, partnered with justice, as these related to our own faith journey. But now that I find my life further away from the church and closer to what Jesus is actually pointing to, new elements come into play. Here is one: I have used the words of the hymn 'A Place at the Table' as title for this book, because there are still Christian people not welcome, either at the communion table or at the common table of society. . . . Creating justice and joy means walking into the territory of basic human rights, as Jesus did. It means being aware of our own fragility as well as our planet's, and using technology wisely. . . . Because I live in a highly secular society in Aotearoa/New Zealand, I am conscious of how the stereotypes of Christianity can be cynically dismissed. I long to say that there is so much to understand and embrace in the wisdom, spiritual treasury and survival skills that Jesus has given the world. It is also an interfaith and interactive world I live in, so some of these texts reflect my hope for the 'care and connection making us kin' that seems imperative for our human survival. . . . These hymns - be they attempting the pastoral, the prophetic or the impossible - are my present way to express this for myself, and hopefully, for you. - Shirley Erena Murray

Soprano voice solo, SATB choir, and piano - Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.56-0106-E Composed by Howard Goodall. Holy Week, Lent, Triduum/Three Days, Tenebrae. Score. 17 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 47 seconds. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #56-0106-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.56-0106-E). English, Latin.Invictus: A Passion addresses one of the world’s most powerful stories through the lens of the modern world. The texts, written or inspired by women, describe not only human suffering and persecution but also the human capacity for love and humility in the face of tyranny. Composer Howard Goodall is uniquely suited to bring these texts to life with music of emotional clarity and sweeping force. This movement, scored for soprano solo, SATB choir and piano, expresses the unimaginable pain felt by a mother seeing her child torn away from her at a slave auction. To this harrowing account are appended the words of William Wilberforce, spoken in the House of Commons on 18th April 1791, “You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.†Duration 6:47.

So follow the part with diagrams if you need to.

Heidenröslein: Variations on a Theme by Franz Schubert

Instrumental Duet,Piano Euphonium,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927030 Composed by Franz Schubert, Kayla Roth. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 27 pages. Kayla Roth #3373343. Published by Kayla Roth (A0.927030). From the composer's program notes included with this purchase:I have taken Schubert’s famous setting and arranged it in a set of musical homages to other composers. I have also included Schubert’s original theme, transposed down to F, and I would recommend playing it twice in the beginning to give your audience a good idea of it.For most of the pieces, I tried to capture the composer’s overall style; however, there are a few particular pieces that are either quoted or used as the stylistic basis, as follows: Mozart - I based this variation, stylistically, on Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major (K.467), specifically movement two (Andante), as well as some of his earliest childhood piano compositions. Symphony 40 in G minor (K.550) is quoted rhythmically. Strauss, Jr. - For inspiration, I used Du und Du, Op. 367, a waltz that is derived from various parts of his beloved operetta, Die Fledermaus. I quoted rhythms from this, as well as from Frühlingsstimmen, Op. 410. Joplin - I didn’t base this on any particular piece of Joplin’s; I tried to include elements that are common in his rags (a short introduction, arpeggiated diminished seventh chords, chromaticism, syncopation over a boom-chuck). Perhaps the best advice comes from Joplin himself: Don’t play this piece fast. It is never right to play ragtime fast. Porter - I had to include an offering from the Great American Songbook! Frank Sinatra recorded several of Porter’s well-known tunes in the 1940s, such as Easy To Love, Night and Day, and I Love You; his renditions of these songs are heavy on the schmaltz and sentimentality, which is exactly what I was trying to achieve in this variation.Bach - The minor variation! I had Fugue in G minor, BWV 578 (Little Fugue) in mind when writing this.der Jodelkönig - As Heidenröslein is a strophic, folk-songesque German piece, I thought it fitting to end the variations with an imitation of traditional Alpine yodeling. It is named in honor of Franzl Lang, the Yodelking.

This version of this old catch, or round, could also be played on the harp or guitar. Because one instrument is playing both parts it is a good learning experience and the sound is glorious. At the moment the sound sample is only a Sibelius audio file, but I'll replace it with a real recording ASAP.

Double Bass,Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552085 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Individual part. 2 pages. Jmsgu3 #6116385. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552085). The famous wedding classic arranged for Solo Contrabass.Duration: 2:12Score: 2 pages. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Solo Contrabass. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Jmsgu3 #3602675. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549885). Score: 12 pages, piano part: 6 pages, viola part: 4 pages. duration: ca. 5'. This is the famous wedding march from Op. 61 composed in 1842 and commonly performed as a recessional march at the end of a wedding. The piece was originally composed for orchestra then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself. Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used for a wedding in 1858 Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words. Artistic Standing Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was all of a sudden baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his major works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his methodical mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. Consequently, he diverged his contemporaries in the romantic period, such as Wagner, Berlioz.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Vibraphone,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987848 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 54 pages. Robert M. Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 12 minutes Year of composition: 2006 Program Note: The mind searches for the oddest of couples. Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett. The violin and the vibraphone. Aside from the letter V, the two instruments have almost nothing in common. We consider: the violin is the most aristocratic instrument in the Western musical tradition, the prima donna of the instrumental world, an instrument that has had, lavished upon it, more extraordinary music than any other since its invention roughly 475 years ago. And then there’s the vibraphone, a percussion instrument with pitched metal bars and motor-driven resonators that produce a vibrato. Invented around 1925, it’s an instrument created for dance bands and popular music. Anything You Can Do . . . is a confrontation between these two musical opposites. A sense of contest characterizes the entire piece, as the vibraphone seeks to establish its bona fides side by side with the violin, which in turn attempts to keep the vibraphone in its place by beating it at its own game. The first movement is conceived as a race, in which each instrument acts like the other – the violin explosively and percussively, and the vibraphone with lengthy bowed passages – while seeking to shake off the other. The movement concludes with the violin paying a series of huge, chords and a long, sustained triple-stop that, much to its fury, the vibraphone manages to match with a sustained double-stop of its own. The movement ends in a draw. The second movement begins with the violin doing its best to match the vibrato patterns of the vibraphone’s variable motor. Ultimately, the violin breaks free and plays a broad, arioso-styled melody. The vibraphone tries to match it, but cannot; try as it might, its fixed range cannot reach the stratospheric heights of the violin. Advantage violin. The third movement is constructed in three sections. In the outer sections, rapidly rising and falling lines and counter rhythms pervade as each instrument seeks to gain an advantage over the other. In the middle section, alternating, hocket-like phrases give way to bent notes and glissandi in the vibraphone, which infuriates the violin (how dare this upstart percussion instrument do something ordinarily associated with me?). The movement concludes with the violin once again attempting to lord its greater range over the vibraphone by playing a long sustained F# - the same pitch that conquered the vibraphone at the end of the second movement – only to have the vibraphone top it by playing a harmonic a full seven notes above the F#. Game, set, match: vibraphone. Some respect, please, for the new kid on the block. Anything You Can Do . . . is dedicated, with a thousand-and-one thanks, to Victor Romasevich and Jack van Geem.
