Scriabin: Prelude Op. 11 No. 2 for Bass Flute & Piano
Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549474 Comp…
(+)
Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549474 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499839. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549474). Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores. Background Op.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt. Forms Likewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality. Philosophy Scriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys. Synesthesia He also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. Multimedia Hence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain. Modern Performances In modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.

Brass Band - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM508 Composed by Keiron Anderson. Brass Band. Score and Parts. 68 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM508. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM508). ISBN 9790570484072.This stately work is very loosely based on the opening chords from 'The Lamb', although there are no direct quotations from that work. The opening chorale is played as gradually more themes are added above in a dignified and legato subject where instruments sustain notes to give a lingering echo effect. Players need to be aware of their role in this to maximise the effect. The second subject increases the intensity until the time signature change introduces a second chorale. Then, a short imitative passage leads to a rising appogiatura theme and the climax of the work, which re-introduces the original chorale in a major tonality. With versions for brass ensemble, brass band, wind orchestra and woodwind orchestra, this work has been placed in concerts when a meaningful, reflective moment is required.

String Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.561516 Composed by NanPa hong. Arranged by Han-Ki Kim. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Country,Instructional. Score and parts. 35 pages. Han-Ki Kim #170954. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.561516). “Spring of Home Country†for String Orchestra, Op. 159D “Spring of Home Country†can be said to be a work of variation in a word, and it was composed with the theme of the melody of Nanpa Hong, who played an important role in spreading Western music in Korea in the early 1900s. The nursery rhyme “Spring of Home Country†was composed in 1929 and is a familiar melody to all Koreans, young and old. The content of the poem is about the beautiful and nostalgic nostalgia of the village where I lived as a child. Following the lively prelude in 4/4 time, first violin plays the theme in an atmosphere as if reading a poem, followed by the first variation composed of splendid dispersion chords. Variations 2 and 3 are played by intersecting the parts with “Jajinmori†and “Gutgeori,†which are unique Korean rhythms. In the 4th variation, the slow-expanded theme contrasts with the fast tones of the first violin up and down. Then, the 5th Variation of the Cadenza character is played, and the final 6th Variation of the majestic character and a short coda decorate the end. In this score, short sentences suitable for the musical situation were also written in the score, so that the performer could feel the Korean sentiment in a more concrete way. YouTube link is just for a reference. it is played by concerto form.

Grieg: Holberg Suite Op.40 Mvt.I Prelude - wind dectet

Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553692 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards. 18 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3507995. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553692). The Holberg Suite, Op. 40, more properly From Holberg's Time (Norwegian: Fra Holbergs tid, German: Aus Holbergs Zeit), subtitled Suite in olden style (Norwegian: Suite i gammel stil, German: Suite im alten Stil), is a suite of five movements based on eighteenth century dance forms, written by Edvard Grieg in 1884 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dano-Norwegian humanist playwright Ludvig Holberg. It exemplifies nineteenth century music which makes use of musical styles and forms from the preceding century. The movements of the suite are: Praeludium (Allegro vivace) ( This one) Sarabande (Andante) Gavotte (Allegretto) Air (Andante religioso) Rigaudon (Allegro con brio) The Holberg Suite was originally composed for the piano, but a year later was adapted by Grieg himself for string orchestra. The suite consists of an introduction and a set of dances. It is an early essay in neoclassicism, an attempt to echo as much as was known in Grieg's time of the music of Holberg's era. Although it is not as famous as Grieg's incidental music from Peer Gynt, which is itself usually performed as arranged in a pair of suites, many critics regard the works as of equal merit. It is arranged here for double wind quintet, and I have transposed it from the original G to Ab. (Clarinets in Bb) I have simplified the constant semi quaver throughout, so it is less tiring for the wind player.

Händel's Opera pieces - Voice 3 for CelloFirst of all, I apologize for my english language mistakes !!The repertoire included in Händel's Opera pieces is the culmination of a process of searching for musical material in Händel's opera repertoire, which can be used at the same time, outside of its original compositional context, exclusively exalting its beauty as well as the genius of the its composer Georg Friedrich Handel. The conditions that all the pieces of the volume had to fulfill were the following:- To have a short duration to be used as teaching material in subjects of baroque technique and chamber music, collective subjects or even chamber orchestra subjects.- They can be interpreted in trio chamber formations in the following combinations:Voice 1 Violin, flute, oboe or clarinet.Voice 2 Violin, viola, flute, oboe or clarinet.Voice3 Violin, viola, cello, bassoon, flute, oboe or clarinet. They are of limited technical complexity in order to allow the performers to participate and at the same time enjoy listening the polyphony and counterpoint of Handel's compositional style. This collection of 27 pieces have been mostly selected from Handel's vast opera production (44 operas or so depending on the criteria to be considered as operas or oratories) and the most beautiful (but not famous), adapted to three-voice trio formations. The pieces included are the following1. L’ultimo ballo (Alceste)2. Menuet (Almira )3. Final Gavotte of act I (Arianna in Creta)4. Overture Mussette (Alcina)5. Overture Andante (Berenice)6. Gavotte7. Symphony of act III (Xerxes)8. Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune arranged wind decet/dectet (double wind quintet/bass)Additional flute 3/cor anglais.(They are not essential and can be omitted)Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (L. 86), known in English as Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, is a symphonic poem for orchestra by Claude Debussy, approximately 10 minutes in duration. It was composed in 1894 and first performed in Paris on 22 December 1894, conducted by Gustave Doret. The flute solo was played by Georges Barrère.The composition was inspired by the poem L'après-midi d'un faune by Stéphane Mallarmé. It is one of Debussy's most famous works and is considered a turning point in the history of Western art music as well as a masterpiece of Impressionist composition. Pierre Boulez considered the score to be the beginning of modern music, observing that the flute of the faun brought new breath to the art of music.Debussy's work later provided the basis for the ballet Afternoon of a Faun choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky and a later version by Jerome Robbins.

Soprano solo, violin, harp, and organ or string orchestra - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8068-E Composed by David Conte. 9/11 Service, Funeral. 24 pages. Duration 12 minutes, 30 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8068-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8068-E). Latin.Commissioned by the American Music Research Center, Boulder, Colorado, Thomas Riis, director, in loving memory of Don Campbell. The work received its premiere performance at l’Église de la Sainte-Trinité, Paris, on October 24, 2013 by Alexis Galpérine, violin, Magali Léger, soprano, Saori Kikuchi, harp, and Carolyn Shuster Fournier, organist. The work consists of three Latin texts from the Requiem Mass. The first, Exaudi, is in “Larghetto†tempo and serves as a prelude. The second, Dies Iræ, marked “Allegro agitato,†is an intense and dark scherzo in D minor with chromatic runs in the organ and violin which accompany the soprano. A central, more lyrical section follows based on the “Lacrymosa†text in a slower tempo, leading to the song’s only serene moment: “Pie Jesu Domine.†The “Dies Irae†music returns, and the song ends violently and decisively. The third song, In Paradisum, introduces the harp. The soprano melody is modeled very closely on the Gregorian chant based on this text. A gentle climax occurs on the text “habeas eternam,†and the song slowly winds down to its end, having laid to rest life’s struggles in the eternity of heaven. Duration: 12:30.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1293743 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Chamber. 16 pages. RayThompsonMusic #884220. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1293743). Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet)A taster of the opening music for Erik Satie's Ballet Parade.Choral and Prelude of the red curtainOther scores to follow. Background info:Parade is a ballet choreographed by Leonide Massine, with music by Erik Satie and a one-act scenario by Jean Cocteau. The ballet was composed in 1916–17 for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The ballet premiered on Friday, May 18, 1917, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with costumes and sets designed by Pablo Picasso, choreography by Léonide Massine (who danced), and the orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. The ballet was remarkable for several reasons. It was the first collaboration between Satie and Picasso, and also the first time either of them had worked on a ballet, thus making it the first time either collaborated with Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes. The plot of Parade incorporated and was inspired by popular entertainments of the period, such as Parisian music-halls and American silent-films.Much of the settings used in Parade's plot occurred outside of the formal Parisian theater, depicting the streets of Paris. The plot reproduces various elements of everyday life such as the music hall and fairground. Before Parade, the use of popular entertainment materials was considered unsuitable for the elite world of the ballet. The plot of Parade composed by Cocteau includes the failed attempt of a troupe of performers to attract audience members to view their show. Some of Picasso's Cubist costumes were in solid cardboard, allowing the dancers only a minimum of movement. The score contained several noise-making instruments (typewriter, foghorn, an assortment of milk bottles, pistol, and so on), which had been added by Cocteau (somewhat to the dismay of Satie). It is supposedthat such additions by Cocteau showed his eagerness to create a succès de scandale, comparable to that of Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps which had been premiered by the Ballets Russes some years before, and caused no less scandal.Although Parade was quite revolutionary, bringing common street entertainments to the elite, being scorned by audiences and being praised by critics, nonetheless many years later Stravinsky could still pride himself in never having been topped in the matter of succès de scandale. The ragtime contained in Parade would later be adapted for piano solo and attained considerable success as a separate piano piece. The finale is a rapid ragtime dance in which the whole cast [makes] a last desperate attempt to lure the audience in to see their showThe premiere of the ballet resulted in a number of scandals. One faction of the audience booed, hissed, and was very unruly, nearly causing a riot before they were drowned out by enthusiastic applause. Many of their objections were focused on Picasso's cubist design, which was met with cries of sale boche.
