Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,Contra Alto Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1371363 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by Andrew Jacobi. Classical. 46 pages. Andrew Jacobi #955580. Published by Andrew Jacobi (A0.1371363). Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 is a four-movement work pulled from Edvard Greig’s incidental music to Henrik Ibsen’s 1867 play also titled Peer Gynt.  The original music was composed in 1875 with select movements from the play being pulled into its own suite and published in 1888.  The opening movement to Suite No. 1originated in the prelude to Act IV of the play where it depicted the rising sun.Edvard Grieg was a Norwegian composer and pianist and was considered one of the leading composers from the Romantic Era. His integration of Norwegian folk music into his music helped to develop a national identity for Norway and much of his music remains as standard repertoire today.About the Arrangement:This arrangement of Morning Mood is written for a full woodwind choir, but features a few possible substitutions.  Both oboe parts may be substituted as need to fill in voices.  Oboe 1 features a substitute part for either soprano saxophone or clarinet and is necessary to perform the piece without significant holes.  It is preferred that soprano sax be used in order to get the change in timbre, but clarinet can be effectively used.  The oboe 2 part can be substituted for alto saxophone.  All of the important bassoon parts are doubled in other parts and this arrangement can be played without a bassoon.List of partsFlute 1Flute 2Oboe 1 (Soprano Sax or Clarinet)Oboe 2 (Alto Sax)Bassoon 1Bassoon 2Clarinet 1Clarinet 2Clarinet 3Bass ClarinetContra Alto/Bass ClarinetAlto Sax 1Alto Sax 2Tenor SaxBari Sax.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553608 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century. 34 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3227059. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553608). Two Piano Preludes from Book 1 - Nos.VI Des pas sur la neige/XII Minstrels Two preludes from Bk 1 arranged symphonic winds: double wind quintet  with contra bass and opt. trumpet and trombone. No 6 Des pas sur la neige (Footsteps in the Snow)The piece is one of four Debussy preludes in both books whose title origins are unknown. It has been suggested that the inspiration for the title could have stemmed from a painting depicting a snowy landscape. This was an extremely popular backdrop among Impressionist artist like Claude Monet or Alfred Sisley; the latter painted Snow at Louveciennes. No 12 Minstrels This is the final prelude of Book One.  Debussy delivers a surprising and humorous gem that is a tribute to the performing minstrel groups which started to appear in Europe around 1900. The music of the minstrels included many contemporary jazz elements such as ragtime and blues, rhythms which were incorporated into the music of quite a few fascinated European composers. This prelude cleverly captures the frenzy of the quick-change minstrel act and their rhythmic excitement, opening with a banjo-like theme supported by uncharacteristically blatant dominant to tonic pedals in G Major. We also hear a brief sentimental song and a recurrent drum theme before the prelude comes to a satisfying close with a hymn- like plagal cadence.

Gordon Cherry #3025585. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810784). Shepherd's Song is heard in the prelude to the Finale, Act 3 of Wagner's great opera, Tristan & Isolde. It is a bleak and doleful lament played mostly unaccompanied by a shepherd boy keeping watch for Isolde's ship to arrive. The melody is later heard throughout scene 1. Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4308 Composed by Giorgio Mirto. Score. 24 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4308. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4308). Following a recent experience on the jury of a guitar competition, I noted with great pleasure that Giorgio Mirto, with whom I had shared the role of juror, wanted to celebrate the experience of the competition - during from which we discovered that we had had a great affinity of thought - with something which could endure over time and not evaporate as often happens in short and occasional meetings between musicians. He did it as a true composer, which he is, and dedicated to me a very beautifully crafted Suite to which I allowed myself to collaborate at least formally, by suggesting titles for the four movements. This is how Suite n.1 was born, a piece that does not strictly respect the formal rules of the Baroque era, but reinterprets and reuses them in a new key. The work's obvious late Baroque inspiration led me to find titles that invited the performer to delve deeper into the work's aesthetic inspiration. So I suggested to Giorgio that he title the four movements with something that linked their content to four greats of the 18th century. German masters. The prelude has thus become from Eisenach because of its sometimes improvised Bach-like atmosphere, the second movement, vaguely toccata, speaks an organ language in the manner of Buxtehude (who lived in Lübeck), the slow movement has a Handelian quality - and Handel was born in Halle - and the last movement, far from being a true Chaconne, undoubtedly has the latter's taste for variation and ostinato, typical traits of Telemann who lived in Magdeburg. The cities that appear in the titles are therefore indelible to the authors cited. Furthermore, one should not think that the style of the work is in any way German, given that Giorgio Mirto expresses himself in a very joyful language that synthesizes modality with minimalism, all seasoned with a a nod to Pink's progressive rock Floyd. or a Mike Oldfield... The result of this mixture of ideas, inspirations and styles is a work that personally I never tire of reading and rereading, for the freshness that emanates from it and for the climate expressive which rises, nourishing itself with full efficiency. We ultimately cannot ignore that the note B, the one which marks in a minor way some of the most expressive works of the guitar repertoire, from the study of Sor which made generations of students fall in love with the guitar, until to that of Frank Martin's Four Pieces via La Catedral di Barrios, is the modal fulcrum of the entire Suite: it is true that the Prelude begins with a clear chord in E minor and lingers on an open ending in A minor , but it almost seems that the initial E serves as a launching pad for a continuation of the work in which the dominant, that is to say the B, is the true musical North, the pole star which guides us in the other three movements until the end of the Chaconne de Magdebourg. I wish Giorgio and our Suite great longevity and a favorable destiny in the complex and complex world of contemporary guitar composition.

Baroque,Chamber,Classical. 20 pages. Daniel Kaplan #1000428. Published by Daniel Kaplan (A0.1418981). Arrangement by Daniel Kaplan for woodwind quintet of Bach's Prelude and Fugue No. 16  in G minor from Book 1 of The Well Tempered Clavier. Kaplan fondly recalls interesting his young son in classical music by asking him to play the trills of this prelude while Kaplan played the rest of the notes in an impromptu, piano-three-hands arrangement. The fugue was analyzed in Kaplan's college counterpoint class as a quintessential example, exhibiting many of the standard fugal techniques in Bach's practice. Kaplan is engaged in a project to make classics from other genres available to woodwind players and has arranged several other great works for this ensemble, including many of his favorites from The Well Tempered Clavier (also available on this website). The woodwind quintet is especially well suited for contrapuntal music since the distinctive tone colors of the wind instruments bring out the contrapuntal lines and make them clearer to the listener.

Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891940). The original key of C# Minor has been altered to get the best out of the Saxophones range, and is scored for 2 Alto Saxes, 2 Tenor Saxes & Baritone Sax. Programme Notes: THE PRELUDE The solemn and expressive character of the melody line is somewhat reminiscent of much of Bach's passion music, and weaves between the players with utmost ease. The Preludes most prominent melodic feature is the octave leap heard on all parts throughout the music, which leads to a satisfying conclusion. THE FUGUE Coming in at a whopping 115 bars, this is one of Bach's longest and most complex fugues. With three themes woven through together in five voices as only Bach can, this fugue offers a competent group of instrumentalists many technical and interpretive challenges! Often referred to as the Suffocation Prelude, it is a short yet intensely expressive piece, reflecting Chopin's unparalleled ability to convey profound emotions in a compact form.Composed in 1839, this prelude is written in E minor and features a slow, mournful melody over a repetitive left-hand accompaniment. The piece begins with a simple, descending chromatic pattern in the right hand, which is then echoed by the left hand. This pattern repeats throughout the piece, creating a sense of relentless, suffocating despair.Despite its brevity, Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 4, is rich in emotion and musical depth. The melancholic melody, combined with the hypnotic accompaniment, creates a hauntingly beautiful piece that leaves a lasting impression on the listener. It is a testament to Chopin's genius that he was able to evoke such intense emotion in just over two minutes of music. The piece is often interpreted as a reflection of Chopin's own struggles with illness and mortality, as well as his experiences of exile from his native Poland. Whatever the inspiration behind it, Prelude Op. 28, No. 4, remains one of Chopin's most beloved and enduring works, continuing to captivate and move audiences more than 180 years after it was written.

Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552852 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and individual part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3491315. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552852). Schwencke There are two popular versions of the Bach-Gounod Ave Maria to consider. Firstly, we have the version that exactly follows the harmonic scheme set forth by J. S. Bach in his Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Secondly, we have the arrangement introduced by the Choirmaster Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke in 1783 that introduces a controversial added measure designed to intensify the harmony in measure 27. Both versions employ the melody that Charles Gounod provided as an overlay to the Bach harmony. In either case, the convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide options for extended performance. The duration with the repeat runs about 4:50. This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for Baritone Horn & Piano, S0.661783. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. Â

Published by Lewis A. Kocher (A0.943024). I wrote this piece at the request of a pastor friend of mine who was lamenting the fact that there were too few hymns concerning the subject of forgiveness. At little more than 1 ½ minutes long, this song could work perfectly for a short prelude or postlude during Good Friday, Easter, or at any service during the year.An advantage to this piece is its flexibility in performance and thus in its performance length. As a slow ballad it is of course longer than the 1:40 shown above. And as fast Praise music, it will probably be closer to 1:30 depending upon the performance. And this flexibility is also its beauty: It can suit a variety of moods from reflective to enthusiastic.Wishing you God’s blessing always!

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.966750 Composed by Dillon Ekle. 20th Century,Christian,Easter,Sacred. Score and parts. 9 pages. Dillon Ekle #3068399. Published by Dillon Ekle (A0.966750). This original composition takes its inspiration from Vespers, an evening service of prayer. The piece begins with a brooding bass rhythm, which underlies much of the composition, as melodies depict images of the evening sun's procession toward the horizon. At the moment of the sun's setting, a grand hymn emerges, the emotional high point of the journey as the fires of creation illuminates the world in God's glory, before cooling into a final reprise of the initial melody as the darkness of night settles in.While not an actual setting of the text, the original hymn-like melody in this piece is inspired by the ancient prayer called Phos Hilaron (O Gladsome Light), one of the earliest Christian hymns. This piece, written for piano duet (1-piano, 4-hands), is appropriate for concerts, or as a prelude or other instrumental moment in a church service, especially evening services. While it is not specific to any season, the mood is also appropriate for services in Advent, Lent, Holy Week, or other times of reflection.Melodies move throughout the range of the piano and across both players. Both parts are of similar difficulty, and neither part is more featured than the other; a musical performance will require a strong sense of ensemble. An audio preview accompanied by images and the Phos Hilaron text which inspired part of this piece can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK0NAl15juUThe PDF file is formatted to be printed double-sided. Once printed and bound, odd numbered pages (including the cover page) should be on the right (where the primo player sits), and even numbered pages should be on the left (where the secondo player sits). Alternatively, if two pianos are being used, the file can be printed single-sided and the parts separated out; the primo player will have the odd numbered pages, and the secondo player will have the even numbered pages.

Rock of Ages hymn arrangement for flute and piano by Stephen R Dalrymple transcribed for solo clarinet, trumpet, euphonium/trombone, violin, and cello   Rock of Ages (text by Augustus M Toplady 1776, tune by Thomas Hastings 1830) Hiding in Thee (text by William O Cushing 1876, tune by Ira D. Sankey 1877)   To describe might, power, security, protection – the images we think of are exploding bombs, a nuclear arsenal, security systems. None of these existed in the ancient world. The image of a rock, its density, its hardness, its inability to be shaken, actually, that is a universal metaphor. And so we find it often in the Bible.   Moses struck the rock to produce water. Paul tells us that rock was Christ. [Ex 17, 1 Cor 10] Moses was hidden in the cleft of a rock to watch the presence and glory of God pass by. [Ex 33] David often alluded to the rock as a fortress in the Psalms. [Ps 18] And the picture of Christ as the cornerstone is another favorite theme. [Mt 21, I Pt 2] Several of our hymns use (and mix) these metaphors to speak of the Rock, a place of refuge, a place of safety, a place of redemption.   Suitable for preludes, offertories, concerts, personal meditation.   Includes pdf of 14 score choices ♫ Full Score for flute and piano letter size ♫ Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Trumpet, Euphonium (or trombone), Violin, and Cello solo parts, ♫ Full Score for flute and small page format for performing from a 10 inch tablet and ♫ the same solo parts for 10 inch tablet. tablet (Tell your computer which pages you want to print.
