Transfigured Life - Still Life
Violin and piano - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1525 Composed by David Br…

Violin and piano - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZY.DO-1525 Composed by David Braid. Score and part. 32 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1525. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1525). Life - Still Life, Op. 165 (violin & piano) - David BraidI am keen on concise musical forms such as Prelude and Fugue, where there is one clear straightforward idea, followed by another that is more involved & developed. In keeping with that idea, this work consists of two distinct pieces, the first - Transfigured Life - aims to draw in the listener with its quick, dancing rhythm and simple, melodic violin part. It 'transfigures' via a few short solo piano interludes into just two alternating notes to end - which are the core of the original idea, now made clear by clearing everything else out of the way.The second piece - Still Life - retains its sense of stillness through an uncomplicated piano line that gives lots of space for the violin's contrasting (but again simple) part. As an absolute, not programmatic, piece the title refers to the atmospheric colour and pacing only; it's up to the listener to see 'Still life' of their choosing in their own mind.A note on performance: Despite my reference to 'simple' lines, and the work's determined avoidance of mainstream modernist squeak - the work has certain performance challenges of phrasing and ensemble that requires considerable skill and musicianship. The work has had the privilege of being recently recorded by violinist Ezgi Sarıkcıoğlu and pianist Rossitza Stoycheva, and is available on all major platforms:https://open.spotify.com/album/6p5YIe17ci0UMuo2RqZgjRhttps://music.apple.com/gb/album/transfigured-life-still-life-world-premiere-recording/1738035953.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028192 Composed by Jeremy Hart. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 37 pages. Jeremy Graham Hart #6590413. Published by Jeremy Graham Hart (A0.1028192). Oscillation began as an experiment in coordination of a melody and harmony which are based on different means of organization. To this end, the clarinet is treated separately from the string quartet. The clarinet melody is constructed by means of limited interval usage. In mm.1–3 it can be observed that the melodic intervals are strictly limited to the use of a major 2nd/minor 7th or a major 6th/minor 3rd. By contrast, the string quartet has no limitation on its intervallic usage but always strives towards triadic harmonies in its accompanimental capacity and tends to converge on harmonies diatonic to the key. In addition, despite the proliferation of non-chord tones and transitionary passages in the string quartets’ music, the stable harmonies are written to have fairly parsimonious motion between them (if one were to reduce out the NCTs etc.) The coordination of these two separate logics is done by the selection of anchor-pitches for the melodic phrases. For example, the melodic phrase in mm.4–7 oscillates around the pitch of G natural (transposed in the score), which it shares with the F major/minor 7th chord that is heard as the harmonic goal of the strings in m.7. The teleology of the work can largely be traced in its melodic construction. Its opening phrase of mm.1–3 is anchored on G natural and ends on a C sharp, a tritone above the anchor, to simulate a half-cadence effect. The second phrase of mm.4–7 is still written on G natural but it ends on G as well, forming the authentic cadence and establishing a basic period as well as the work’s first theme. This is followed by second period which represents a dominant relationship to the first. The phrase at mm.10–13.2 is a rather extended utterance in comparison to the first two and is anchored on D natural. This is followed by 4-stage call and response across the ensemble (excluding the second violin) that leads the first section to a close at m.16 on a C diminished triad. Melodically, the first section is characterised by its limited used of a major 2nd/minor 7th or a major 6th/minor 3rd interval. At m.17, the second section follows much the same process as the first, using anchor pitches as a means of coordination and formal definition, and alternating soloistic clarinet playing with activated harmonies in the strings. The primary difference is in the character of the second section’s theme with regards to its rhythmic profile as well as its intervallic content. Namely, these are limited to the use of a minor 3rd or minor 2nd and their inversions. The second section draws to a close at m.32, returning to the tonic harmony of the key. With the first and second sections complete, the work now proceeds into a developmental section. Mm.33–84 largely consists of development of the two themes by manipulation of intervallic content as well as adjusting the placement of the thematic material withing the accompanimental context. This does include juxtaposition of the two themes (though one typicall becomes integrated into to accompaniment) as can be seen between the violin and viola at m.39. Variety is heightened by the introduction of episodic material such as the secondary melody performed by the clarinet at mm.40–41. The Lento section starting at m.53 introduces further rhythmic and metric adjustment of the thematic content. A varied recapitulation occurs at mm.85–113 and is followed by a coda at mm.114–131.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734613 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. Chicory Music #6671801. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734613). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for Trombone Quartet / Choir plus optional Acoustic Bass and Drum Set parts remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds

It Is Not Death to Die - Orchestration

Small Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.976717 Composed by Robert Myers. Contemporary,Easter,Sacred. Score and parts. 67 pages. WheatMyer Music #4794639. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976717). It Is Not Death to Die is a new setting of French poet Henri Abraham César Malan's Non, ce n'est pas mourir as translated by George Washington Bethune and adapted for this work. Why this text? It first came to my notice shortly after the passing of Billy Graham, who was known to paraphrase D. L. Moody, Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.Graham's bold proclamation and Malan's poetry motivated me to focus anew on the resurrection, re-remembering it as the pivotal element of the Christian faith. For if there is no resurrection, Paul says in 1 Cor 15, our faith is useless. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead! Unfortunately, singing about heaven has, perhaps, been neglected of recent decades. We seem to have focused more on the already to the detriment of the not yet. But it is important to remember that this life is not all there is! Quoting Paul again, the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Rom 8:18). Yet, if Christ delays, the grim inevitability of our transition into eternity is a certain experience we all face. Malan's poetry so poignantly and eloquently captures this tension that it compelled me to compose a fresh musical setting that attempts to captures the mixture of dread and hope borne out in the acclamation that death is swallowed up in victory! I pray that this setting aids the Church to remember the great hope and promise Christ has granted us: O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?_______________________________________________________________________________________________The music opens with a C# diminished chord in a very still and somber texture reflective of grief. The text is introduced with the first of two main motives, a rising 4-note outline of B minor in a triple repetition of It Is Not Death. As each stanza proceeds the music concludes on the second motive, a 5-note descending span of a minor 7th in Bb Lydian. The energy and mood of the music gradually shift over the five stanzas, as the focus moves from this life to the next; the texture thickens, the harmony expands, and the dynamic grows into the music’s pinnacle on reign with You on high! The music closes on a reprise of the opening section, simultaneously mindful of our mortality and our eternity.Available with orchestral (this version) or piano accompaniment, It Is Not Death to Die is a fitting close to the Easter season, or is suitable for Ascension Sunday, a funeral or memorial service, or any time in the church year to remind Christians of the central hope of our faith, eternal life in Christ.Robert MyersS.D.G.Orchestration 2 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 1 1 Timp Glock Perc Mark Tree, Sus Cym, Crash Cym, Snare, Bass Drum, Mid Tom, Triangle, Tam Tam Piano Strings

Choral,Mixed Chorus Choir,Choral - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1452243 Composed by Alan Bullard. 21st Century,Classical. 90 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #1031565. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1452243). Alan Bullard's Canticle of Freedom (A Song for Peace), written in 1999 and first performed in 2000, is a prayer for a new millennium of freedom and peace, and each of the four movements takes as its starting point one of the verses from the nineteenth-century Christmas hymn 'It came upon the midnight clear'. It is scored for mixed choir, children's or youth choir, soprano and baritone soloists and a moderate size orchestra. The first movement tells of a solemn, still, and peaceful earth, and the second of a jubilant heaven. The third movement speaks of 'two thousand years of wrong' - the wars and persecution that have disfigured the last two millennia - and the last movement leads us from death to life, with a positive and joyful hope for the future: in the words of the hymn: 'When peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendours fling'. The text has been selected from a variety of poets and sources, ranging from mediaeval times to the present day. The score available here is the vocal score, with a piano reduction of the orchestral parts: for avaialablity of full score and parts please contact alanbullardmusic@gmail.com or colneedition@gmail.comThe link is to a YouTube scrolling scorewww.alanbullard.co.uk.

It could still be used as such, with violin 1 as lead tenor pan, violin 2 as second tenor, viola as Guitar pans and cello as Cello & Bass pans. It lasts 1 min 45 sec so it's an ideal item for a junior string group in a school concert

Saxophone in Eb and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q15272 From the Idyll At Twilight. Composed by Zdenek Fibich. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Op. 39. Schott Music - Digital #Q15272. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15272). The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and AntonÃn Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan KubelÃk played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.

C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8678-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8678-E). English.Mother to Son is based on the powerful poem by Langston Hughes. It is free verse and written in the vernacular, mimicking the patterns of speech and the diction of conversation. The mother (who speaks throughout) is a strong woman, one who has persevered and is still climbing, still surviving: 'Well, son, I'll tell you: / Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. Approachable two-part writing throughout, with an interesting yet supportive piano accompaniment.

Small Ensemble Instrumental Solo,Steel Pan - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939388 Composed by Adam Grim. Multicultural,Standards,World. Individual part. 7 pages. Adam B. Grim #6367345. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939388). Watershed is a solo for low E double seconds written in the spring of 2021. With some motifs being written in 2016, this piece has been waiting a long time to be complete. The aesthetic is not of calypso or soca, but calm motions that flow like swirling water. The 7th chord motif is one that moves the work forward while still remaining harmonically stagnant, just like water flowing down a river. The glasslike water on top shows calmness and reflection, while the water below is moving and teeming with life. This is a reflection on the nature of life as a student, and is one last effort to find stasis in turbulence. This was my first solo pan work written.
