The Wedding Album is a collection of four beautiful and timeless wedding favourites, arranged for Solo Horn in Eb with Piano accompaniment. Whether for that Special Day, for a recital, or for your own entertainment, these arrangements are ideal for players at an intermediate level or higher. The 24-page file includes the piano accompaniments and the separate solo parts at the end. Ave Maria was written by Franz Schubert in 1825 as the sixth song in his song cycle based on Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. It is perhaps the best known of all his melodies, adapted for piano by Franz Liszt, and for orchestra many times since. It is often sung with the Latin lyrics of the Catholic hymn of the same name and has been heard everywhere from the Disney movie Fantasia to the funeral of J.F. Kennedy. The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since.The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since.These four arrangements are also available as single titles for $3.99 each. The first movement, Morning, portrays the hot morning as people gather for a parade; the second movement, Afternoon, introduces the sound of a baseball game; and the third movement, Evening, evokes the day fading into memory. The premiere took place at a concert at Pepperdine University in October of 2017 featuring Louise Lofquist, contralto, and the composer at the piano.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810982). Henry Wolking's The Best Dam Trombone Quintet Ever may just be! It is a fun, feel-good piece to perform and to listen to. The undulating rhythms and close harmonies produce a pleasing mood with a hint of a jazz feel. The music gives you a big hug. Here is a description of the work by the composer: In the summer of 2017 my wife and I moved to the Nevada Dam town of Boulder City. The town began as a construction camp in early 1930s for the workers of the Boulder Dam (later renamed the Hoover Dam). The dam is one of the worlds great construction projects of the 20th century and has over a million yearly visitors. My house is less than ten minutes away from the dam, and because the dam in one way or another affects everyone living in this unique Nevada town, my newest trombone quintet (composed in January 2018) is the best, well you get the picture. It is a high energy single movement work inspired by the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Ranges are fairly moderate with a high C# in the first trombone at the end. This is a fun romp for five dam fine trombonists. The 4 1/2 minute work is appropriate for advanced performers.

Gordon Cherry #4742417. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811040). Mahler composed his 3rd Symphony in the summers of 1893 and 1894 in Steinbach on the Attersee near Salzburg. He spent most of his days those two summers composing in a tiny hut built to his specifications where he could compose in the meadow on the shore of the lake - undisturbed. Movement 5, What The Morning Bell Tells Me includes the voices of women's chorus, children and alto soloist and is a relatively short 4-minute bright rowdy episode, full of laughing voices, bells and angels. Ohad Wand arranged this great music for 12-part Trombone Choir while studying at the Eastman School and it was subsequently beautifully recorded by the Eastman Trombone Choir, directed by Dr. John Marcellus.

River Music is a fun and accessible piece that has received much positive feedback in the clarinet world and has been performed many times, including at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest. It is an approximately 8 minute piece for two Bb clarinets and bass clarinet that would be equally at home on an environmental-themed concert or any other type of program. It is a relatively advanced piece but has been performed by high school students. River Music was written for Clarinets for Conservation.Program Note: River Music was inspired by my time one summer spent on the Chattahoochee River and at the Chattahoochee Nature Center near Atlanta, Georgia. I have always had a connection to bodies of water, having spent many summers and weekends at the lake by my grandparents’ house in New York. While sometimes I feel like an outsider as a New Yorker living in the South, as soon as I got on the river, canoeing down the Chattahoochee, I felt at home again. Something about the river reminds me of my childhood on Lake Peekskill, and River Music was partially inspired by that connection.Once I started writing the piece, it took on a life of its own, as water and nature (and composing) often does. One reason I’ve always felt strongly about environmentalism and protecting our natural environment is that all of it – the trees, the earth, the rivers, the lakes – has been here long before we came along and started messing it up, and it will (hopefully) be here long after we’re gone, as long as we make sure to protect these natural spaces and wilderness areas. I often think about how much trees have seen, and as I wrote this piece I started thinking about how much the river has seen too. I hear stories in River Music, and to me it’s the river telling us some, though certainly nowhere near all, of its stories.Perhaps River Music will take you, the listener, on a journey down the river-not just through space, but through time. You might hear some of the same stories I hear. Or you may not.
