This sheet music is notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument).This arrangement includes two levels. One set is EASY with the Handbells playing only the melody notes and the Boomwhackers® keeping a steady rhythm using only quarter notes. The second set is ADVANCED with the Handbells playing melody and harmony notes while the Boomwhackers® play a slightly more complex rhythm. For each level, there is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. Two copies of each score are provided. The scores are identical except one uses color coded noteheads and the other uses black and white noteheads. The score with colored noteheads corresponds to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. Using color coded notes helps beginning musicians learn to read standard sheet music notation. PRESTO (Mozart K522) The Horse Of The Year Show TV Theme - 3 GUITARS OR LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This is part of the fourth movement - Presto - of Mozart’s K522 for string quartet and two horns. It’s commonly known as “A Musical Jokeâ€, though the correct translation is “Some Musical Funâ€. In the UK, a sanitised version with added drumbeat and electric bass was used as the TV theme music to “The Horse Of The Year Showâ€. My arrangement has just some of the thematic material of the original, yet still fills a music stand. An optional repeat extends the piece to a little over 3 minutes. Mozart intended the piece as a showcase of how NOT to write, and the Presto contains some extraordinary and modern-sounding key changes as well as some rather odd counterpoint. The original Presto finishes with an unexpected burst into 4 different keys, all sounding together after one of the longest build-ups to an ending you’ll ever hear. My setting for 3 guitars ends in 3 of the 4 keys that Mozart burst into. Most audiences would probably associate this with a catastrophic disaster, so I’ve included a second ending that stays in key for a nice happy ending! Rather than the isolated quavers (eighth notes) and rests, I’ve used staccato marks to make a version that is much easier to read yet has exactly the same articulation. I hope you enjoy this piece!

NOTES on CirclesCircles, for drum quartet, was partly inspired by Latin rock and funk bands such as Santana, Earth, Wind and Fire and Afro-Latin infused groups that were particularly prominent during the 1970s. This work explores the rhythmical intricacies and interplay of that music and in part represents a synthesis of what the composer heard in his youth. Circles is made up of a chain of diverse dance beats or grooves, some of which are heard multiple times in the piece. These grooves feature timbales and congas solos that often trade off with each other. Â Any 4 instruments may be used in a performance. Â The model for the piece is ecstatic ritual drumming, and the pitches are chosen from the ratios of hammer weights described in Boetheus's tale of how Pythagorus stumbled upon the ratios of concord. Â The beat patterns are based upon numbers taken from a 4x4 magic square as shown in Durer's Melancholia. Â The original title for the piece was Pythagorean Hammers in a Magic Square, but that's a little pretentious, so I changed the title to something better. Â The trick to the piece is to approximate loudness from different percussion instruments so that they blend well. Â The pitches are the pythagorean ratios of concord in the key of F, which is why a C clef was chosen for the score and parts.

I intend to convey multiple moods and brass band techniques throughout my piece by creating blended harmony, jazzy rhythm, and modulation. To strengthen the chords, I use the root note in the bass lines (e.g. Bb bass).  With creating the theme I also take into consideration having a structured flowing catchy melody to show the audience a clear statement that this is the theme. The Rhymtic features in the theme are crotchets and quavers. But which are soon to be embellished in the variations. The dynamic in the theme is mf (mezzo-forte)  and mp (mezzo-piano)  in the higher instruments.  And forte in the lower voices for balancing. The tempo marking is crotchet equals 60 beats per minute. In variation 1, I intend to maintain the original melody from the theme (solo cornet)  whole creating contrast with the inclusion of jazz-styled rhythms and dissonant chords. For example, I use a jazz-styled drum ostinato (bb. 9-61) Featuring dotted quavers and semiquavers. In addition to this, I feature dissonance with the use of 7th chords which can be seen at bb.18-26, 31-39, and bars  54-62 For example, in bars 18-26 the cornets are playing the melody in a four-part harmony only using 7th chords. The rhythmic features are more embellished using crotchets and quavers. But also using dotted quavers and semiquavers to show that this melody this a variation. The dynamics in the variation are extended with more instruments having a forte dynamic to have a strong expressive dynamic. Inspiration of this variation comes from people like (Maynard Ferguson, and Gordon Goodwin).
