Flute,Instrumental Duet,Marimba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.949371 Composed by Adam Lenhart. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. 12 pages. Adam Lenhart #5214719. Published by Adam Lenhart (A0.949371). The Last Brigade utilizes the F harmonic minor scale to evoke imagery of an intense battle scene. The contrasting timbres of each instrument must work together over both legato and marcato phrases. Fun and driving, this piece perfectly blends the elements of energizing the audience and showcasing the players' abilities. The marimba part for this piece is suitable for a three-octave instrument (F3-F6) and can be performed with two mallets or four. Medium-hard rubber or yarn mallets are recommended. Includes full score and individual parts.---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. As a composer, his music draws inspiration from nature, mathematics and poetry. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Association’s Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. Lenhart has also participated in numerous ensembles across Michigan, including the MYAF All-State Choir, Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club and the SMTD University Choir. He thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other composers, performers, poets and visual artists. Some of his recent projects include collaborations with individuals from the University of Michigan Chamber Music, History, and Poetry departments.

Flugelhorn,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350163 By Will Savage. By Will Savage. Classical,Jazz. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Will Savage #934942. Published by Will Savage (A0.1350163). 'Turn of the Tide' - to reverse the general course of events.Turn of the Tide is about an on-going war in a land far away. One of the last remaining tribes in the human race is losing a great battle and they are slowly, but surely becoming extinct. In a sudden change of events, the opposing tribe dies of an unknown disease, and the music unusually lifts at this point, from C Minor to G major. The Tribe then discovers the damage that the world has been left in. We descend back to C Minor from a big climax as the once cheerful tribe all breathe their last breath. There is no more population on planet earth.Instrumentation:Solo Flugelhorn (Instrument in Bb)+ Piano Accompanimentsavagesmusic.com/turn-of-the-tide

The Skye Boat Song (oboe, bassoon and piano)
Instrumental Duet,Piano Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Oboe,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download …

Instrumental Duet,Piano Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Oboe,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1373257 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Celtic,Folk,Historic,Irish,Traditional. 12 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #957602. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1373257). This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs (notably the TV series Outlander) and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skyeâ€) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.   The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boatâ€) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king†to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.†The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.   In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. The woodwind parts avoid technical challenges and the piano part is fairly easy. This beautiful folk song would make a spendid addition to your repertoire and aso make a pleasant encore number after a classical recital.

Arranged by Colin G Dance. March. Brass Band. 24 pages. Dance is With Music #714349. Published by Dance is With Music (A0.1112190). Heart of Oak is the official march of the Royal Navy. It is also the official march of several Commonwealth navies, including the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy. It was also the official march of the Royal Australian Navy, but has now been replaced by the new march, Royal Australian Navy. The music of Heart of Oak was written in 1759 by composer William Boyce, the lyrics by actor David Garrick, for Garrick's pantomime Harlequin's Invasion, to which others contributed as well. The pantomime was first performed on New Year's Eve of that year at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, with Handel soloist Samuel Thomas Champnes singing Heart of Oak. The wonderful year referenced in the first verse was the Annus Mirabilis of 1759, during which British forces were victorious in several significant battles: the Battle of Minden on 1 August 1759; the Battle of Lagos on 19 August 1759; the Battle of the Plains of Abraham (outside Quebec City) on 13 September 1759; and the Battle of Quiberon Bay on 20 November 1759. The last battle foiled a French invasion project planned by the Duc de Choiseul to defeat Britain during the Seven Years' War, hence the reference in the song to 'flat-bottom' invasion barges. These victories were followed a few months later by the Battle of Wandiwash in India on 22 January 1760. Britain's continued success in the war boosted the song's popularity. The oak in the song's title refers to the wood from which British warships were generally made during the age of sail. The Heart of oak is the strongest central wood of the tree. The reference to freemen not slaves echoes the refrain (Britons never will be slaves!) of Rule, Britannia!, written and composed two decades earlier.

Schubert: Ave Maria for Bass Flute & Piano
Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548690 Comp…
(+)
Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548690 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Easter,Standards. Score and individual part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411129. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548690). A Bass Flute Christmas/Easter classic! Duration: 4:55 Score: 3 pg. Bass Flute part: 1 pg. Piano reads from the score. Schubert seems to have composed this piece as a song-setting. This is because he wanted to portray a poignant emotional event from a poem. The poem was Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. Consequently, this song became an integral part of Schubert's Song cycle. Therefore the cycle is called: the Lady of the Lake. In the poem, Ellen Douglas is the Lady of the Lake. The lake is probably Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands. First of all, Ellen goes with her father to stay in the Goblin's cave. They go because he earlier refused to join in a rebellion against King James. Roderick Dhu, the chief of the rebellious Alpine Clan, marches up the mountain with his army. But before the battle, he, first of all, hears Ellen singing. She is singing a prayer calling for help from the Virgin Mary. Schubert's piece was first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria.  Schubert dedicated the arrangement to her, and as a result, she became famous as the lady of the lake. The incipit of Ellen's song is Ave Maria which is Latin for Hail Mary. It seems like this similarity led Schubert to adapt the melody to accommodate the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. Consequently, the Latin version of Ave Maria finally became more famous than the original so that consequently many believe he wrote the Latin version first. Schubert Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was, in fact, a famous Austrian composer. Moreover, he composed during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Schubert was comparatively prolific. He wrote more than 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, and, correspondingly, a massive amount of piano and chamber music. Critics agree, as a matter of fact, that his most famous works include his Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 (also known as the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 (Unfinished Symphony), the last sonatas for piano (D. 958–960), and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795) and Winterreise (D. 911). Education Schubert was furthermore a musical child prodigy. He studied violin with his father as well as piano with his older brother. In addition, when Schubert was eleven he studied at Stadtkonvikt school, where he became familiar with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and likewise Beethoven. In due time he left school and returned home where he studied to become an educator; nevertheless, he continued studying composition with Antonio Salieri. Performance Eventually, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performer. This appointment straightaway established his name in Vienna as a composer and pianist. Finally, he gave his only composition recital in 1828. He died suddenly a few months later probably due to typhoid fever. Legacy Schubert’s music was by and large underappreciated while he was alive. There were all in all only a few enthusiasts in Vienna. After he died, however, interest in his work in fact increased. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.

SATB soli, SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3429-E Composed by David Ashley White. 10 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 30 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3429-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3429-E). English. The great English author, Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936), wrote the poem My Boy Jack during the early years of World War I. The poem quickly came to be identified as Kipling’s lament over the death of his son John, who was killed during the Battle of Loos in France in 1915. However, it is just as likely that the poem is a tribute to all who were lost during The Great War, and to those who mourned them. In this setting, the composer casts the forlorn questioner not as one person--a grieving parent--but rather as a mixed solo quartet, representing everyone. The harmonic language in the poem’s first three stanzas is intended to portray the sorrow and angst that Kipling’s words so effectively convey. In the last stanza, however, the tone of the poem suddenly changes, becoming more positive and resolute: Then hold your head up all the more, this tide, and every tide… To reflect this shift, the setting uses a quasi-English folksong style, one that is more lyrical and direct. Duration: 3:30.

Allegories for Flute, Euphonium, and Piano

Euphonium,Flute,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141957 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Chamber,Children,Classical. 65 pages. Sy Brandon #742334. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.1141957). “Allegories†is a five-movement composition based upon Aesop’s Fables. It was commissioned by and dedicated to Frank Meredith. The first movement “The Trumpeter Taken Captive†is a fable about how one’s actions affect the outcome. The trumpeter, who incites others to do battle, is as guilty as those who slay the enemy. The euphonium represents the trumpeter by playing battle tunes. Then the ensemble plays capture music, begging music, fatal music representing the slaying of the trumpeter (euphonium), and finally music representing the moral of the story. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf†is the basis for the second movement. The allegory is that nobody believes a liar. The flute plays a shepherd’s tune to represent the bored shepherd boy. The ensemble plays excited music three times as the boy cries wolf, the first two times just to amuse himself. After the third time when nobody responds to his cries, the flute plays a lament to end the movement. The third movement reflects the story of “The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg.†A golden euphonium melody accompanied by rich harmony represents the golden eggs laid by the goose. The ensemble then plays greedy music that is followed by a minor key lament as the farmer has killed his rich source of income because of his greed. A sweet dancing flute solo begins movement four appropriately named “The Fisherman and His Flute.†This short fable has the allegory of “timing is everything.†The poor fisherman expected the fish to jump out of the sea in response to his flute playing to no avail. When the ensemble plays a similar tune, it represents his success when he uses his net. The fisherman says “you bloody fish, when I played the flute you wouldn’t dance, but as soon I stopped, you started up.†The race between the “Tortoise and the Hare†is the subject of the last movement. The plodding euphonium represents the tortoise and the fast and agile flute represents the hare. The flute takes a nap in the middle of the movement and by the time the flute wakes up, it is too late to catch up with the slow and steady tortoise. The race is not always to the swift.

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Drums,Instrumental Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.881250 Composed by Gary Powell Nash. African,Contemporary. Score and parts. 36 pages. Gary Powell Nash #3545021. Published by Gary Powell Nash (A0.881250). Silent Guns of Sacrifice and Fortitude for clarinet and percussion was composed in commemoration of Fort Negley in Nashville, Tennessee. Fort Negley was a significant fixture during the US Civil War, particularly in regards to the Battle of Nashville. While Nash was researching Fort Negley, he discovered an article that described it as silent guns of fortitude, thus the title. This work holds its significance in the unique instrumentation used as well as the rhythm. Since the piece is written for clarinet and African percussion, specifically tom-toms and conga drum, rhythm is highly emphasized. The piece has a standard slow-fast-slow-fast movement scheme. The first and third movements are slow and the second and last movements are faster and have a dance-like feel to them. The final movement in particular was influenced by a song from the Boys Choir of Kenya.

Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1184997 Composed by Andre-Ernest-Modeste Gretry. Arranged by Aaron Conway. 19th Century,Historic,March,Multicultural,Patriotic,World. 19 pages. Aaron Double A Conway #784671. Published by Aaron Double A Conway (A0.1184997). La Victoire Est à Nous, which translates to Victory is ours in English, was the victory march for the French Grande Armée that was commanded by Napoleon Bonaparte from 1804 to 1814. The song itself was written by famed French composer André Grétry as it was taken from his opera titled La Caravane du Caire. La Victoire, being a victory march, would typically be played after a battle had been won to uplift solider morale and to humiliate the opposition. Despite only being active for roughly ten years, La Victoire was played a lot considering that Napoleon is statistically the greatest military commander to ever exist. Lastly, this song bleeds with the nationalistic pride that would define the nineteenth century which is why it is one of the songs that defined the Napoleonic Era.> Parts: 3 Bb Trumpets, French Horn, 2 Low Brass Parts, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, and Crash Cymbals.> Purchase includes full score and individual parts.
