Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1133721 By Various. By Anonymous, Claude Gervaise, Claudin de Sermisy, Erasmus Widmann, Giorgio Mainerio, Henry VIII, Juan Del Encina, Michael Praetorius, Pierre Attaignant, Pierre Phalese, Thoinot Arbeau, Tielman Susato, and William Cornysh. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Early Music,Folk,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 50 pages. Wold Meridian #733832. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1133721). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to the Dance Masters which presented 44 of my favourite Renaissance Dance band tunes and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited 22 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances.  You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkMoIoEYEMVPa_EXY6NVDpNSAs a help to those less confident in playing harmony lines, I have provided links to playlists of videos online for each part of each piece. You will hear the selected line on its own with chords and percussion, with the melody line added on repeats. The final repeat includes the other harmony lines, but the featured line is slightly louder in the mix. The performance starts with a percussion beat introduction to set the tempo.Who were the Publishers and the Dance Masters? What did they do? Sometime around the 1500s, the popularity of dance music exploded in Europe. Dance Masters were collecting chansons and dance tunes from courts and rural parts and were teaching these to new audiences, spreading their arrangements and reflecting the performance styles of the areas from which they had collected the tunes. Publishers were able to take these tunes that were becoming known across the regions and nations and spread them even more widely, thanks to technological innovations in music printing which made it quicker and therefore cheaper to produce collections of these dances in four or more parts. These publishers were often highly accomplished composers in their own right, who were both able to provide distinctive harmony lines and compose new tunes in the style of their sources, feeding the courts with enduring tunes. Composers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on. Working with this publication For those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

Small Ensemble Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534375 Composed by Paul Wehage. Concert,Contemporary,Holiday,Love,Standards. Score and parts. 41 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3396161. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534375). To You for Baritone, Tenor Saxophone and piano is dedicated to the American Baritone Kurt Ollmann, who has done much for the promotion and performance of American music both in the United States and abroad.Whitman’s poem speaks of seeing a stranger and feeling love for this person. In contrast to Poe’s To Helen, which treats a similar subject of a chance meeting of a stranger that the poet loves, Whitman does not idealize his subject but rather pointedly and brutally describes how he sees this person and what feelings (both negative and positive) this contemplation provokes in the poet’s mind In order to reflect this musically, there is an alternation between more introspective and brooding sections which are then followed by more ecstatic outbursts. The piece ends with the poet watching the stranger leave, expressing what the composer felt to be acceptance and release. As in any chamber music with voice, it is important that the two instruments allow the voice to predominate, regardless of the dynamics marked in their parts. The saxophonist should try as much as possible to match colour with the voice,in order to allow the contrapuntal exchanges between the voice and the saxophone to blend evenly. The pianist should play the passages at rehearsal marks E, G and K in a more soloist manner, always taking care not to cover the voice..To YouWhoever you are, I fear you are walking the walks of dreams,I fear these supposed realities are to melt from under your feet and hands,Even now your features, joys, speech, house, trade, manners, troubles, follies, costume, crimes, dissipate away from you,Your true soul and body appear before me.They stand forth out of affairs, out of commerce, shops, work, farms, clothes, the house, buying, selling, eating, drinking, suffering, dying.Whoever you are, now I place my hand upon you, that you be my poem,I whisper with my lips close to your ear.I have loved many women and men, but I love none better than you.O I have been dilatory and dumb,I should have made my way straight to you long ago,I should have blabb'd nothing but you, I should have chanted nothingbut you.I will leave all and come and make the hymns of you,None has understood you, but I understand you,None has done justice to you, you have not done justice to yourself,None but has found you imperfect, I only find no imperfection in you,None but would subordinate you, I only am he who will never consentto subordinate you,I only am he who places over you no master, owner, better, God,beyond what waits intrinsically in yourself.Painters have painted their swarming groups and the centre-figure of all,From the head of the centre-figure spreading a nimbus of gold-color'd light,But I paint myriads of heads, but paint no head without its nimbusof gold-color'd light,From my hand from the brain of every man and woman it streams, effulgently flowing forever.O I could sing such grandeurs and glories about you!You have not known what you are, you have slumber'd upon yourselfall your life,Your eyelids have been the same as closed most of the time,What you have done returns already in mockeries,(Your thrift, knowledge, prayers, if they do not return inmockeries, what is their return?)The mockeries are not you,Underneath them and within them I see you lurk,I pursue you where none else has pursued you,Silence, the desk, the flippant expression, the night, theaccustom'd routine, if these conceal you from others or fromyourself, they do not conceal you from me,The shaved face, the unsteady eye, the impure complexion, if thesebalk others they do not balk me,The pert apparel, the deform'd attitude, drunkenness, greed, premature death, all these I part aside. There is no endowment in man or woman that is not tallied in you,There is no virtue,.

Choral Alto Voice,Bass Voice,Double Bass,Piano and Keyboard,Soprano voice,Tenor Voice,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Interactive Download SKU: A0.481914 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Jeremy Nafziger. This edition: Interactive Download. Christmas. Octavo. Duration 286. Jeremy Nafziger #6Re335EyhndYxZ7ALSuj10. Published by Jeremy Nafziger (A0.481914). Key: C major. The Beatles classic with the Advent hymn, In Dulci Jubilo. Both texts come from dreams, and this winds up a meaningful combination. In Dulci was written in the 14th century by German monk and teacher Heinrich Suso (or Seuse), who writes in his third-person autobiography about a dream he had: Now this same angel came up to the Servant [Suso] brightly, and said that God had sent him down to him, to bring him heavenly joys amid his sufferings; adding that he must cast off all his sorrows from his mind and bear them company, and that he must also dance with them in heavenly fashion. Then they drew the Servant by the hand into the dance, and the youth began a joyous song about the infant Jesus, which runs thus: In dulci jubilo... About 650 years later, in 1968, Paul McCartney was staying out late, drinking too much, and thinking that the Beatles were probably going to break up soon. Then one night, somewhere between deep sleep and insomnia, I had the most comforting dream about my mother, who died when I was only 14. She had been a nurse, my mum, and very hardworking, because she wanted the best for us.... At night when she came home, she would cook, so we didn’t have a lot of time with each other. But she was just a very comforting presence in my life. And when she died, one of the difficulties I had, as the years went by, was that I couldn’t recall her face so easily.... So in this dream twelve years later, my mother appeared, and there was her face, completely clear, particularly her eyes, and she said to me very gently, very reassuringly: “Let it be.†It was lovely. I woke up with a great feeling. It was really like she had visited me at this very difficult point in my life and gave me this message: Be gentle, don’t fight things, just try and go with the flow and it will all work out. His mother's name was Mary, or course. He wrote the song in the next few days, and it was released on the album on the same name in 1970, a month after the Beatles split up. As for the actual texts, they're very different. In Dulci is macaronic (alternating between two languages, in this case Latin and a translation from Medieval German) and ecstatic; Let It Be is English and more subdued. In this version, we alternate between the two but keep the Let It Be structure, except for a diversion in the middle where the well-known Bach setting is adopted as kind of an interlude. The two texts and melodies are sung together in the last verse (the fourth In Dulci verse and the third Let It Be verse), where both are talking about music.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.747086 By Randy Travis. By Roger Miller. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Contemporary. 27 pages. Keith Terrett #6426723. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.747086). An arrangement of the classic King of the Road for Wind Dectet.King of the Road is a song written by country singer Roger Miller, who first recorded it in November 1964. The lyrics tell of the day-to-day life of a hobo who, despite being poor (a man of means by no means), revels in his freedom, describing himself humorously and cynically as the king of the road. It was Miller's fifth single for Smash Records. The popular crossover record hit No. 1 on the US Country chart, No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 1 on the Easy Listening surveys. It was also No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart, and in Norway. Miller recalled that the song was inspired when he was driving and saw a sign on the side of a barn that read, Trailers for sale or rent. This would become the opening line of the song. The song has been covered by many other artists, including George Jones, Dean Martin, Val Doonican, Jack Jones, James Booker, The Fabulous Echoes, Boney M., R.E.M., Johnny Paycheck, Glen Campbell, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Boxcar Willie, Randy Travis, Rangers, James Kilbane, John Stevens, the Statler Brothers, Rufus Wainwright & Teddy Thompson, Giant Sand, Peligro, John Williamson (singer) & Adam Harvey, The Proclaimers, Ray Conniff Singers, The Reverend Horton Heat, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Jim White. James The King Brown (an Elvis impersonator) performed the song for a 2001 Audi commercial on German TV. Of R.E.M.'s version, a shambolic, drunken, offhand rendering, guitarist Peter Buck would later comment, If there was any justice in the world, Roger Miller should be able to sue for what we did to this song.King of the Road was performed live by Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam and Dolly Parton during Miller's posthumous induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the 1995 CMA Awards ceremony. The song appears in Wim Wenders's 1976 film Im Lauf der Zeit (In the Course of Time; English title Kings of the Road). It is also played at the beginning of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Brokeback Mountain, Into the Wild (2007), Traveller (1997), and Swingers (1996). Miller performs it in the concert film The Big T.N.T. Show. The Proclaimers' version is included in the film The Crossing (1990). Near the end of their official music video, the pair are shown reading a newspaper whose headline is Roger Miller, King of Plugs.Miller's recording appears in an episode of the Super Dave TV show, where Super Dave Osborne (Bob Einstein) sings along while sitting at a piano mounted on top of his tour bus. The bus eventually goes into a low tunnel, slamming into the piano and Osborne and pushing them off the bus and onto the ground.A send-up version by English entertainer Billy Howard was a British chart hit in 1976.A German take by the band Wise Guys exists, the parody referring to speeding on the Autobahn.

Ah, scostati!...Smanie implacabili (Dorabella) from Così fan tutte - Accessible Accompaniments Ed.
Mezzo-Soprano Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1186002 Compose…
(+)
Mezzo-Soprano Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1186002 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Classical,Opera. 10 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #785660. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.1186002). The first of its kind, this is a much more readable and sight-playable piano/vocal reduction of Ah, scostati!...Smanie implacabili,†Dorabella’s first aria from Mozart’s Così fan tutte (1790). The sextuplets in the right hand found in most standard reductions have been condensed into triplets with a grace note, emphasizing that the gestural shape is what needs to be heard rather than every individual note, and the result is a much clearer and less note-filled score for the audition pianist. Some large spans in the left hand have also been reduced out and redistributed for more ergonomic playing on long audition days. When a grace note has an accidental that is then repeated later in the gesture, I’ve rewritten that accidental on the full-size note containing it for ease of reading (so the cue-size accidental is not the only indication of said accidental in the measure, which would make it too easy to miss). The recitative “Ah, scostati!†is also included with slight alterations and courtesy accidentals in the melodic minor scales. As with any Accessible Accompaniments edition that’s not also an audition/solo cut, I suggest bringing two copies to each audition: one Accessible Accompaniment and one copy of a standard edition. Audition pianists who don’t know the aria will almost always choose the cleaner look of the Accessible Accompaniment, but those who know “Smanie†well might prefer to play from the edition they learned it from. This will provide singers and their audition pianists every chance of a successful collaboration. All Accessible Accompaniments, including this one, boast several unique features:1. No reduction ever requires stretches of over an octave, not including bass notes meant to be held or “fudged†with the pedal (though octaves may also contain chord tones within them). This reduces the amount of rearranging that smaller-handed pianists must already do. Obviously, further reworkings are to be expected and pianists should feel free to add to or modify what I’ve provided.2. I’ve included less essential, but potentially desirable additional voices/passages in cue-size noteheads so that pianists can easily see them, but know that they are not necessary in a “sink or swim†accompanying situation. Presenting less essential material in cue-size noteheads also reduces visual clutter on the page.3. In addition to the composer’s markings, when needed, I have included additional courtesy accidentals.4. All page turns have been carefully selected so as to result in the least possible disruption to the pianist when possible. 5. When known, I’ve noted alternate cuts that singers might like to take within certain arias.6. I’ve also replaced text “cresc.†and “dim.†markings with hairpins, which are easier to see in high-pressure sight-reading situations.About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo enjoys a multifaceted career as a sought-after collaborative pianist, educational composer, arranger, coach, private teacher, and adjunct music professor. Currently based in the Cleveland area, Ms. DiPaolo has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players on multiple occasions and as a recitalist, collaborator, and presenter worldwide. Currently, Ms. DiPaolo is an online Adjunct Lecturer in Music at Indiana University; the Principal Theory Teacher at Liberty Park Music, an online-only video subscription-based music school; an invited blog contributor and guest instructor at Tonebase; and a sought-after online instructor of piano, music theory, and composition who includes partimento and historical improvisation in her curricula. For more information, please visit http://ndipaolo.musicaneo.com .

The Best Hymns of All Time (Violin, Cello and Piano) Book 1
Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download …
(+)
Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522286 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 50 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6596257. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522286). We’re really excited to present our collection of sixty of the best-loved hymns ever composed, presented in three books. Arranged for violin, cello and piano they are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. To make the music accessible to less experienced string players, the range of the notes has been kept fairly low so that many of the arrangements can be played in first position, though more experienced players would probably want to avoid open strings. The cello part does not follow the bass but instead plays an independent tenor line using to the mid to upper range of the instrument. The top note in the cello part is the F sharp above the bass clef. The piano part has been kept as straightforward as possible with the left hand playing the bass part. To extend the possible uses of this collection, there’s also a melody part printed in the bass clef, an octave lower than the violin part. This could of course be used for cello solo or indeed for any other bass clef instrument. Included in the 50-page PDF file is an optional bass part which follows the piano left hand and could be used for string bass or bass guitar. With such a small ensemble, a conductor is hardly necessary and to save on costs the pianist reads from the score. For this reason, the piano part in the score has been slightly enlarged. Book 1 contains the following twenty popular hymns: Abide with Me (Eventide); All Glory, Laud and Honor (St. Theodulph); All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name (Coronation); All Through the Night (Ar Hyd y Nos); City of God, How Broad and Far (Richmond - Haweis); Fairest Lord Jesus (Crusader’s Hymn); Fight the Good Fight (Duke Street); Forth in Thy Name (Angel's Song, Song 34); Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer (Cwm Rhondda); He who Would Valiant Be (Monk’s Gate); Holy, Holy, Holy! (Nicea); I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (Kingsfold); Jesu, Lover of my Soul (Aberystwyth); Nearer my God to Thee (Bethany); Now Thank We All Our God (Nun Danket); O Worship the King (Hanover); Rejoice, the Lord is King (Darwall’s 148th); Soldiers of Christ, Arise (Diademata); The Lord’s my Shepherd (Crimmond); What a Friend we Have in Jesus (Converse). The music has been set in string-friendly keys so they are not compatible with the brass or wind publications of the same name. The audio samples include Abide with Me; All Through the Night; I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say; Nearer my God to Thee and What a Friend we Have in Jesus.

Soprano voice and tenor voice soli, SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8323-E Composed by David Conte. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Americana, Children, Creation/Nature, Hope/Assurance. Instrument part. 9 pages. Duration 5 minutes, 42 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8323-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8323-E). UPC: 600313483233. English. The three a cappella choral pieces that comprise “A Whitman Triptych†were composed between 2012 and 2014. O Setting Sun was commissioned by the Madison Chamber Choir, Madison, Wisconsin, Anthony Cao, conductor, and was premiered on April 20th, 2012. “What is the Grass†was composed for Cappella SF, Ragnar Bohlin, conductor, and is being premiered on tonight’s concert. Facing West was commissioned in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge by the International Orange Chorale, Zane Fiala, conductor, and was premiered on May 27th, 2012. I first set Whitman to music in 1986,when I adapted part of “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed†as the basis for my composition “Invocation and Dance.†I went on to set “Good-Bye, My Fancy†for Male Chorus and Soprano Saxophone in 1992, and “Song of the Open Road†for Mixed Chorus and Piano in 2004. Like so many composers, I have found the visionary quality of Whitman’s verse inspiring; the vigor and intensity of the poetry seem naturally to draw out music. Facing West is drawn from the Children of Adam book from Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. The full title of the poem is Facing West From California's Shores. Though Whitman never visited California, his biographer Justin Kaplan made the insightful observation that he imagined California's shores to be the starting point for a journey through time and culture. Here was Walt, 'a child, very old,' facing home again, looking over to it, joyous, as after long travel, growth, and sleep, asking: 'But where is what I started for, so long ago?/And why is it yet unfound?' The invitation from the International Orange Chorale to compose a piece in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge led me easily and naturally to this great poem. The tone of Facing West is rich and complex, and draws on one of Whitman's favorite themes of using travel to distant lands as a metaphor for spiritual development. In his poem, Whitman strikes notes of reflection, of longing for adventure, and ultimately ends with a question. The continuing relevance of this question is for me beautifully addressed by the contemporary American writer Edmund White in his 1980 book States of Desire. To paraphrase somewhat, White writes: California is where dreams may come true, and the problem it presents is whether, after all, we wanted these particular dreams to be fulfilled - or would we have preferred others? Did we know what price these dreams would exact? Did we anticipate the ways in which they would unsuit us for the business of daily life? Or should our notion of daily life itself be transformed? For Americans, California's coast is as far as one can go in establishing new roots and new ways of living. As a transplanted Midwesterner who has made California his home for nearly three decades, I experience the Golden Gate Bridge as a beautiful monument to the aspirations and dreams of a restless and inventive people, qualities that Whitman's poem captures perfectly. -David ConteDuration: 5:42

Low Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799605 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Romantic Period. 2 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #3455867. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799605). A low-voice-friendly transposition of this relatively little-known Schumann song about the Lorelei (a mythical mermaid-like creature from the Rhine river). It has a one-octave range from C3-C4 as written, so it’s great for an undergraduate singer still sorting out technique. If you would like to commission a customized transposition in another key, please contact me through my website (linked below).About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile pianist, composer, and scholar currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field; her dissertation research will explore relationships between selected early partimenti (instructional sketches used by Italian composition teachers) and George Frideric Handel’s compositional techniques. Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition on the IU campus, where she is also an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole continues to enjoy musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member (and she unashamedly absorbs and borrows teaching/coaching/performing tips from all these professors). In addition, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin. Notable recent engagements include the 2016 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competition (multiple entrants); the Opera Night at North benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them Accidental Tenor Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare. When not working on one of her many concurrent musical projects, Nicole might be found maintaining The Collaborative Pianists’ Community on Facebook, cuddling the nearest dog, looking for opportunities to maintain her Spanish and Italian language skills, and raising and releasing monarch butterflies. Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784987 Composed by English, Irish, and and Scottish traditional music. Arranged by Dorothy van Joolen Barth. Classical,Multicultural,Renaissance,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 13 pages. Dorothy van Joolen Barth #4873. Published by Dorothy van Joolen Barth (A0.784987). Kings contains 8 traditional tunes selected from Playford’s Dance Master, O’Neill’s Music of Ireland, and The Gow Collection of Scottish Dance Music and arranged by Dorothy van Joolen Barth for two instruments. These 8 tunes are part of a larger anthology entitled Of Castles, Kings, and Courts, available separately as a download for those who would prefer to have the complete book. As an audio sample, the Irish tune The King of the Rath is provided here. I’ve endeavored to keep the melodies true to their source, though I granted myself liberty to switch the tune between the two instruments, change octaves, and add embellishments on the repeats--something that might also be done in spontaneous performance. These arrangements were conceived for recorder and violin but may also be played on flute and violin or two violins. In this volume, the suggested recorder range is indicated, but the adaptable recorder player may experiment with different ranges. We prefer the soprano recorder (which sounds an octave higher than written) on reels, jigs, and hornpipes and the tenor recorder (or alto recorder depending on range) for slower, lyrical pieces. These pieces are delightful to perform for Renaissance and Celtic festivals and theme events and to add romance to period or castle weddings. Above all, may this music provide both player and listener with much enjoyment! (Revised August 2015).

String Ensemble Drum Set,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1105087 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Country,Rock. Accompaniment. Duration 221. David Kai #708333. Published by David Kai (A0.1105087). A song for those grieving the loss of a pet, especially those whose pets support them through issues such as PTSD and depression. The death of a pet is certainly one the most difficult things that pet lovers experience. Pets offer us companionship, affection and healing, but their relatively short lifespan means that we will experience this loss many times in our lives. Many of us take comfort in the idea of a rainbow bridge that our pets cross when they die, and that we too will cross to be united with our pets. This song expresses the grief that we experience with the death of a pet, but also the hope that we will be reunited with them one day. This version of the song is a backing track for a soloist. BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE by David Kai ©2019 The day that I first met you, I held you in the palm of my hand And from that moment onward I knew that we would be the best of friends And though you started as a Christmas gift to set beneath the tree You know you really were a gift from God to me. We walked through fields and forests, we’d hit the trail in sun and wind and rain When I was at my lowest, you licked my hand and raised me up again But time passed much too quickly, and you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. I’m not sure what heaven’s like , I’m not sure how things will be But if we won’t be together, it won’t feel like heaven to me But if the Lord be willing, I’ll hear your welcome bark again, And see you running to me, through the golden fields of grain Most faithful of companions, you’d been with me in sickness and in health You always loved to see me, even when I couldn’t really love myself And when you licked my hand that one last time, then you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge.

DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER (Original version) With this edition, the original version of Wagner’s opera Der fliegende Holländer [The flying Dutchman] WWV 63 is made available to the public for the first time in piano score form. The score on which the edition is based was published in the Richard Wagner-Complete Edition 1983: Richard Wagner. Collected works Vol. 4, I-II, The Flying Dutchman. Romantic opera in three acts (original version 1841), edited by Isolde Vetter (Schott Music International, Mainz, RWA 104-10/RWA 104-20).†(Egon Voss, quoted from the foreword of the new Der fliegende Holländer vocal score) Original version and 1842-1880 version The original version of Der fliegende Holländer dates from 1841. Wagner, at the time a completely unknown Kapellmeister in France, trying to get a foothold in Paris, saw the opportunity for a stage work that would meet the fashion at the Paris Opera of performing several short works one after another. Der fliegende Holländer, conceived in 1840 and composed in 1841, seemed to him suited to the purpose. In 1841, even when Wagner no longer counted on a success in Paris, he still held to the conception of a one-act opera and offered the work to German opera houses under the title of “Romantic Opera in One Act and Three Scenesâ€. This version is set in Scotland, taking as the literary model for the opera Heinrich Heine’s novel fragment “From the Memoirs of Mr. Schnabelewopskiâ€, and the protagonists have English names. This version was never performed in Wagner’s lifetime. Beginning in 1842, the work went through a tale of constant revision: Even before the Dresden premiere (2nd January 1843) Wagner undertook fundamental alterations. He transposed the location from Scotland to Norway, changed character’s names as appropriate, divided the opera into three acts – not least due to considerations of scene changes – and transposed Senta’s Ballad from A minor to G minor. It was in this version that the score of the opera went to print in 1845. For a performance in 1860 he composed the later so-called ‘Tristan’ or ‘Redemption’ ending to the Overture. Until the very end of his life, Wagner contemplated a plan for a final score or a definitive vocal score: it never came to be, so that to this day, as with Tannhäuser, we still do not have Der fliegende Holländer in a final version. Based on the research conducted in the creation of the Complete Edition, our editions contain, in one case the original version of 1841, while the other essentially goes back to the first printing of the score of 1845, but with the addition of the source material for the retouchings dating from 1842 to 1889. VOCAL SCORES The original version of the opera was made available for the first time in a vocal score in 2005 (ED 8065). The completely revised new edition of the vocal score of the 1842-1880 version appeared in 2011 (ED 20531).Les opéras de Richard Wagner paraissent pour la première fois sous forme de piano-chant chez Schott en version originale. Sont déjà publiés dans la série : L’Or du Rhin, Lohengrin, Parsifal et Le Vaisseau fantôme (première version de 1841 et version 1842-1880). Les autres opéras de Wagner représentés à Bayreuth paraîtront d'ici 2013, année anniversaire de la naissance du compositeur.

Small Ensemble Flute,Harp,High Voice,Piano Accompaniment - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007137 Composed by Charles McCreery. 20th Century,Celtic,Children,Contemporary. Score and parts. 15 pages. St Maur Music #3567425. Published by St Maur Music (A0.1007137). This is one of a series of songs for children, with words by J.R.R. Tolkien. The vocal line is intended to be sung by two solo soprano voices, taking alternate verses, until the final verse, where they form a duet. Alternatively, the piece can be taken as an opportunity for two solo flautists, taking alternating verses, until the final verse. In either case the accompaniment can be taken, either by a harp, or by a piano. ‘Charles McCreerys beautifully melodic, intricately textured compositions are infused with classical, romantic and folk idioms.’ - Samantha Gillogly, violinist and composer A comment on Charles McCreery’s collection of Tolkien songs: ‘For those who only know Tolkien via the recent blood-and-thunder films, this song-cycle by Charles McCreery will give a very different angle on the classic saga. Here we find a gentle and ethereal world, where rhythms lilt and words echo. The twelve songs, suitable for choir, evoke a dreamy, water-colour landscape with no harsh sounds, the tunes are singable and in a traditional style that Tolkien would surely have approved.’ - Dr Julia Gasper, LGSM

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522186 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 27 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6363609. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522186). These are two charming dances taken from a collection entitled Recueil de danseries, contenant presque toutes sortes de danses (“Collection of dances, containing almost all kinds of dancesâ€) published in Antwerp in 1583 by Pierre Phalèse Jnr (c.1545-1629). He was continuing the work of his father Pierre Phalèse the Elder (1510-1575) the most important publisher in the Low Countries during the 16th century and who published his First Book of Dances in Leuven in 1571. The Antwerp publication of 1583 contains about half the dances from the original 1571 edition, together with some new titles, making a total of about seventy numbers. The 1583 collection contains a large selection of gaillardes, almandes and bransles which were all popular courtly dances of the time. The lively and well-known piece entitled Ungaresca appears on page 24 of the original publication. The drone accompaniment that Phalèse provides suggests the sound of the peasant bagpipes. The name Ungaresca is a term used outside Hungary to denote a dance in the Hungarian style and this particular one probably first appeared in a 1578 dance collection for viol consort - Mainerio's Primo libro de balli. As a result, the music is sometimes attributed to Mainerio. In this arrangement, Ungaresca is paired with the delightful Almande Poussinghe which appears on page 16 of the original. This wonderful music of the 16th century still speaks to us today and this arrangement would be an ideal concert item, playable by virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments with optional percussion and keyboard parts. The optional keyboard part enables you to use the piece as a solo or duet and trio for mixed instruments. Some minor changes have been made to the inner parts to facilitate performance. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The score and set of parts come in a single PDF file.

Full set of parts: Please contact Chris Gordon at the email address on the first page of music for details.IF NOT NOW, WHEN? If Not Now, When? gets its title from the novel by Primo Levi, the Italian author who both survived life in Auschwitz and fought the continued German military presence in Italy with the Resistance after the Italian surrender to the Allies in September 1943. Levi meant that revolution and the overthrow of tyranny should never be 'put off until tomorrow'. If you believe you are on the side of right, then 'seize the day'- tomorrow may be too late. The inspiration for INNW? grew from research I was doing into an early song by Alban Berg called An Leukon which Berg wrote in 1907 while a student of Arnold Schoenberg. In delving into the kind of world which Berg inhabited in the Vienna of 100 years ago, I was fascinated by the café culture* which played a pivotal role in the lives of most artists: not only composers, but also writers, painters, architects and journalists. They swirled around the fashionable 'watering holes' sucking up current thoughts and ideas, high on Viennese coffee, cigar smoke and idealism! I envisaged a play which tried to encapsulate all this and wrote a few scenes with characters such as Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Steuermann, Pisk, Kraus, Gropius and Altenberg heatedly discussing music, art and poetry over large cups of milky coffee. This grew into the framework for INNW? which, to paraphrase Pirandello's play about characters seeking an author, is a 'play without words in several scenes'. The piece is organised into 8 short movements or 'scenes' showing the 'Schoenberg cirle' sharing their radical and daring ideas and the shock or delight (or both simultaneously) with which those ideas are greeted. The first, which happens to be the longest, is rooted in conventional tonality. It begins with a fanfare in D flat major ('aux armes, citoyens!'), then seeks a 'freer' tonality by means of the 'emancipation of the semitone' only to capitulate in the central section and, finally, to 'fall back to earth' by winding down in G sharp minor. These 'scenes' are not meant to represent particular composers. They are, however, meant to represent the kinds of directions in which music could progress, given the 'breakdown' or 'stretching to its limits' of traditional harmony which had occurred in the previous 10 to 20 years. So many ways forward were promulgated, with one after another extraordinary, and often unexpected, futuristic musical panoramas glimpsed momentarily. My aim is to demonstrate which directions they decided they could head in having cleared the 'overgrown' path before them. * I even discovered that, around this time, in the Café Central, a certain Leon (Lev) Bronstein, otherwise known as Leon Trotsky, banished by the Okhrana (Imperial secrect police) from his native Russia, would spend all day in a back room playing chess. How delicious, I thought, if Schoenberg had ever brushed passed Trotsky or, indeed, had ever spoken to him: the one planning political and the other musical revolution!

By Anonymous, Claude Gervaise, Henry VIII, Jacotin, Jacques (Jacob) Arcadelt, Jan de Lublin, John Dowland, Ludwig Senfl, Michael Praetorius, Pierre Attaignanant, Pierre Bonnet, and Tielman Susato. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Classical,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 43 pages. Wold Meridian #840108. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1245199). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to Consort which presented 35 Renaissance Dance band tunes and Chansons and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited the remaining 17 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances. Â You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkPO9vTOgEoG_kRJlJ5nUHnxComposers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on.Working with this publicationFor those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available.

Melody: Conjunct and Disjunct - Perform, Compose, Understand Series. This pack comprises a piece called Mind The Gap, worksheets and questions which relate to the piece. It is all about understanding melodic movement and direction.Welcome to the PCU Series for classroom-based groups. This series focuses on learning by doing; there are many accomplished performers within our school classrooms throughout the world, but my years of experience has taught me that many of these students learn to play by rote – literally be learning one note followed by another – without gaining full understanding of how the pieces work musically and theoretically. Indeed, some of them can perform to a high standard using this method, but then really struggle with composition and general musical understanding later in their educational careers.I equate this to learning to speak sentences in a foreign language without fully understanding what those sentences actually mean. So who is this book for?It is for music teachers to use with their students who are learning to create exam-level compositions within a school environment. It is ideal for courses such as the American High School Diploma, GCSE, IGCSE, SCS, HKCEE, IB(MYP), SPM, GCEO, CCEF, HKCEE, VSSD, GES or ICSE.It is designed to cater for almost any instrument due to the parts being provided in many different keys and clefs (including tab and bass tab). Drum parts are intentionally not provided as drummers still need to have a good understanding of non-percussive elements such as melody and harmony; I would suggest that they play a keyboard part for the purposes of learning about composition. You can also download backing tracks of all pieces in this series by searching:Classroom Performance educational pack: MELODY backing tracksThese contain parts 2-5, allowing part 1 to be played live over the top. How to use this resourceThis pack comprises three stages, the third of which should be gained from success with the first two:1. PerformingAn original performance piece is provided for mixed classroom ensemble. This piece features a musical device of some kind as its focus. There will obviously be other musical components included within the piece as well, but the main element will be very apparent.2. ComposingWorksheets are provided to enable students to develop their own compositions based on the same focus as the performance piece. Elements of the performance piece are highlighted and short, developmental activities will lead to the students developing their own musical ideas.3. Understanding Summary worksheets are provided to enable students to demonstrate their understanding of the topic. There are two musical elements which appear in all pieces within this PCU series. They are dynamics and articulation. All performance pieces contain them and opportunity is provided to include them within the composing exercises as well.Printing and CopyingThe purchaser may print or copy all pages of this resource as required, but must not distribute to others. It is advised to produce resources for students as follows: * Print which ever parts are needed to facilitate a performance* Produce a booklet containing the title page, score and worksheets. The performance piece could also be used for the performing component of your examined course as well if appropriate.** Also look out for the other packs in the PCU Series which cover melody, rhythm, structure, texture and harmony. Melody: Sequences - Perform, Compose, Understand Series. This pack comprises a piece called Thanks, Ludwig, worksheets and questions which relate to the piece. It is all about understanding melodic sequences.Welcome to the PCU Series for classroom-based groups. This series focuses on learning by doing; there are many accomplished performers within our school classrooms throughout the world, but my years of experience has taught me that many of these students learn to play by rote – literally be learning one note followed by another – without gaining full understanding of how the pieces work musically and theoretically. Indeed, some of them can perform to a high standard using this method, but then really struggle with composition and general musical understanding later in their educational careers.I equate this to learning to speak sentences in a foreign language without fully understanding what those sentences actually mean.So who is this book for?It is for music teachers to use with their students who are learning to create exam-level compositions within a school environment. It is advised to produce resources for students as follows:* Print which ever parts are needed to facilitate a performance* Produce a booklet containing the title page, score and worksheets. The performance piece could also be used for the performing component of your examined course as well if appropriate.** Also look out for the other packs in the PCU Series which cover melody, rhythm, structure, texture and harmony. Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1092454 Composed by Francesco Durante. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Sacred. Score and parts. 8 pages. Regis Bookshar #696546. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1092454). Kyrie - by Francesco Durante; Euphonium Quartet – Intermediate – Digital Download. “Kyrieâ€, originally written for a four-part vocal ensemble by Francesco Durante, has now been transcribed, edited and arranged by Regis Bookshar, for a Euphonium Quartet, written in Treble Clef. There is also a version written in Bass Clef, if you would prefer. This would be a welcomed addition to any music library. This short composition, which lasts less than two minutes, will provide many students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long phrases, and to help them to continue to develop good intonation because many of the phrases cadence on a unison note. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (8 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble’s extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quartet version of this composition for many church services, especially funerals, when we were asked to supply something more somber and introspective rather than the louder, more festive music which many people come to expect from a Trumpet Ensemble. Francesco Durante was an Italian composer who was born on March 31, 1684 at Frattamaggiore, in the Kingdom of Naples. At an early age he entered the Conservatorio dei poveri di Gesu Cristo, in Naples, where he received lessons from Gaetano Greco. Later he became a pupil of Alessandro Scarlatti at the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio. He is said to have succeeded Scarlatti in 1725 at Sant’Onofrio and to have remained there until 1742, when he succeeded Nicola Porpora as head of the Conservatorio di Santa Maria de Loreto, also in Naples. He held this post for thirteen years, until his death on September 30, 1755. His fame as a teacher was considerable, and, unlike his Neapolitan contemporaries, who attracted international notice with their operas, Francesco Durante achieved recognition through his church music, along with some vocal chamber and instrumental works. His concern was not quantity. A complete collection of Durante’s works, consisting almost exclusively of sacred music, was presented by Gaspare Selveggi, a Neapolitan art collector and music theorist, to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The imperial library of Vienna also preserves a valuable collection of Durante’s manuscripts. The fact that Durante never composed for the stage brought him an exaggerated reputation as a composer of sacred music. He was considered one of the best church composers of his style and period. In his masses, requiems, litanies and Lamentations, he could provide strong expressive moments, as he does in this “Kyrieâ€. In addition to this arrangement for a Euphonium Quartet, Regis Bookshar has also made other arrangements of this selection. There are Quartets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I’m certain that this beautiful arrangement of Francesco Durante’s “Kyrie†will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

The Daedalus and Icarus Journey
Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.942097 …

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.942097 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 11 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #6104711. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942097). This guitar and vocal work were originally set on the Robert Frost poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’, and was written for a lecture series at Boston University given by Lukas Foss entitled ‘Words on Music. Some years later I set out to publish the work and found that the estate of the late R. Frost frowned upon this particular practice and after a second failed attempt to get permission to publish the work, I decided to write my own verse for this composition (my first actually) and use a subject familiar to me, the story of Daedalus and Icarus Journey to freedom. After his arrival in Crete, Daedalus found that Minos would not let him leave. He subsequently obtained wax and feathers and fashioned wings for himself and his son Icarus. With these they succeeded in flying away, but Icarus, flying too near to the sun, melted his wings, fell into the sea near Crete, and drowned; Daedalus escaped to Italy only to fall into the hands of the local King Kokalos who drowned him in hot water. The Daedalus and Icarus JourneyEscape from here is what I’ll doI have a plan I thought it throughThe waves beneath us deadly wildI’ll fly up high, it’s just the sky That was a dreadful thing to sayTo fly so high, you can’t survive.Your wings, your soul and frozen smile,The sun will burn and you will die. The Death you seek I am sure you’ll get,He’s there for you he won’t forget. He will be fast and kind with you,If He survived why not you too? It’s time to go the sky gets blueMy mind will be so close to youYou cannot scare me I have to try,The time is right, let’s say goodbye. Text by Apostolos Paraskevas
