Small Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017909 Composed by Andreas Kleinert. Contemporary. Score and parts. 3 pages. Andreas Kleinert #6327425. Published by Andreas Kleinert (A0.1017909). Eighth, quarter triplet and quarter notes alternately and at the same time. Actually it is a passacaglia. Sometimes the chords are mixed up between both hands. Nearly it is an improvising and could also continue differently. Take time for it, enjoy the suction´s power and hypnotize yourself and your audience!

Bassoon, piano, voice - Digital Download SKU: IZ.PDP039 Composed by Novie Greene. Score and Parts. 19 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #PDP039. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.PDP039). 9 x 12 in inches. The Two Irish Songs were arranged in 1983 at my suggestion. Mycousin, Ed Searl, was studying voice with Novie Greene at the time, and it was through him that I made her acquaintance. The three of us thought that it would be nice to have something which we could all perform together, and so Novie began working on these charming settings. We premiered these pieces at a Bach's Lunch Concert at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando on 28 April 1983. I have performed them since then as a set and also done St. Patrick's Breastplate several times for church services. The hymn is frequently used during confirmation or baptis1n ceremonies. The text is a translation of a Gaelic prayer done in 1889 by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895), the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Derry and Raphoe. She also wrote the text for the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful. The tune chosen by Novie Greene, sometimes known as St. Patrick, is by the Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924), who wrote it in 1902. Stanford is best remembered today for his work as a professor of composition at the Royal College of Music. His students there included Frank Bridge, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Thomas Dunhill, Gustav Holst, Herbert Howells, Willian1 Yeates Hurlstone, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. ~Bruce Gbur.

Large Ensemble Flute,Mandolin,Oboe,Soprano Recorder,Tenor Recorder,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.917070 Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Arranged by John Goodin. Instructional. Score and parts. 52 pages. Rosie and Earl Music #4347897. Published by Rosie and Earl Music (A0.917070). G.P. Telemann was one of the most prolific composers in history. According to Steven Zohn in his Music for a Mixed Taste: Style, Genre, and Meaning in Telemann's Instrumental Works (Oxford University Press, 2008) the menuets in this collection were first published by the composer in Hamburg in 1728 under the title Sept fois sept et un menuet (Seven times Seven plus One Menuets), and most likely were issued to subscribers in groups of seven throughout the year. While only a combined score with melody lines in the treble clef and figured bass has survived, an advertisement from the time suggests that either part may have been available on its own. These arrangements have been created by raising the bass line into the treble clef, creating a part playable by mandolin, violin or any other instrument capable of reaching the G below middle C. I was able to preserve the shape of the bass lines in most cases although I did sometimes have to ignore octave leaps and, in two or three spots (with great reluctance), I was forced to change a note. These duos are both educational and fun. They are suitable for both private enjoyment and public performance and make excellent teaching tools.

Small Ensemble Euphonium,Horn,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.917404 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score and parts. 61 pages. Musica Nova USA #4984119. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917404). Three Pieces for Tuba Ensemble is a collection of three pieces that were composed at different times for different occasions. This set makes up a good suite for concert performance. Although listed as a tuba ensemble compositions, euphoniums usually play the higher two parts. All three are written in five parts. Optional substitute parts for French Horn and Flüglehorn are also included in this set, as well as euphonium parts in treble clef.Salutation Fanfarewas composed in 1985 for performance at the New York Brass Conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. That year, famous tubist Harvey Phillips was being honored at a special concert. This piece started the concert with the composer conducting an ensemble of about twenty euphonium and tuba players made up of Indiana University alumni, free-lance musicians and other friends of Mr. Phillips. The piece is based on the phrase Harvey Phillips Mr. Tuba. Simple Giftsis a traditional American folksong that has been arranged by many composers over the years. This arrangement was done in 1990 for performance at the International Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association Conference held in Sapporo, Japan. It was premiered by the Colonial Tuba Quartet that year. It has been arranged in four parts as well as this arrangement in five parts.Octubafest Polkawas composed in 1976 at the request of Harvey Phillips for performance at the Octubafest activities at Indiana University. It was premiered by the Indiana University Tuba Ensemble that year, conducted by Harvey Phillips. Mr. Phillips was the first to use the word Octubafest, probably in 1974 or 1975. Octubafest celebrations have taken place at many schools and universities ever since, usually in the month of October. He said that having an Octubafest celebration early in the school year provided an opportunity for new students entering college to get to know each other. At Indiana University during Harvey Phillips’ tenure (1973 – 1996) the Octubafest concerts were always followed by a party at Harvey’s house, making for a good time for all. Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer and conductor. He recently retired from Berklee College of Music where he was Professor and Chair of Composition, serving on the faculty from 1979 to 2016. He has written over ninety compositions for orchestra, band, chamber ensembles and soloists. He has won over sixty composition awards both nationally and internationally, including First Prize in the 1991 TUBA International Etude Composition Competition, for his Twenty Characteristic Etudes for Tubaan important part of the tuba pedagogy repertoire. His compositions include works published by several publishers in the United States, South America and Europe and have been performed extensively throughout the world. He has been a frequent traveler to Spain since 1993 and has promoted compositions by Spanish composers around the world. He is the only composer who has been commissioned six times by Spanish bands for Certamen competitions, with each band winning first prize. He has thirty-three compositions commercially recorded on Albany Records, MSR Classics, Crystal Records, Mark Records and others. He has been a guest lecturer, conductor and performer at many colleges, universities and music festivals in the United States, Canada, Japan, South America and Europe. He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1954 and has Composition degrees from the Boston Conservatory and Indiana University. He now resides in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.

Instrumental Duet,Pipe Organ,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1478037 By Diana Mascari. By Diana Mascari. Arranged by Diana Mascari. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Jazz,Sacred. 57 pages. Diana Mascari Music #1055375. Published by Diana Mascari Music (A0.1478037). After composing two saxophone quartets in the 1990s for the Berlin Saxophone Quartet which they played several times, baritone saxophonist Friedemann Graef commissioned me to compose this piece: Three Psalms for Tenor Saxophone and Pipe Organ. When I asked him about why use the tenor saxophone, he explained that his role in the quartet as baritone saxophonist had no bearing on his desire and ability to play other saxophones. Since this composition included the pipe organ, I chose to create a work that reflected the sacred nature of church. The movements are:I. PraiseII. Comfort and AssuranceIII. Carson Cooman - Viola Quintet (Unquiet Parables) (2009) for two violins, two violas and cello

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775995 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 73 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2035285. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775995). Viola Quintet (Unquiet Parables) (2009) was commissioned by the Vienna Soloists and is dedicated to Jack Melby and Jane Thompson. The work is in three movements, each sharing the same basic musical material. The starting point for the music is dissonant cadential figuration centered on Ab (taken from the voice leading of American colonial-era music). Spinning out from this idea, the material extends to incorporate a sonority formed from perfect 5ths one semitone apart. Irregular phrase lengths and cadences are used as the basis of the work’s large-scale structures. The first movement, Recitatives and Chorales, consists of free, recitative-like material for the instruments in solo. These recitatives often erupt into fast spirals. This texture is interrupted periodically by chorale-like ideas presented by the full quintet. The second movement, Serenata, is a song-like with each instrument taking the melody in turn. Some of the recitative-ideas of the first movement re-emerge, as well as a re-articulation of the cadential figuration. The third movement, Ductia, is energetic and driving. A ductia is a Medieval stamping dance resembling the estampie. The driving (yet sometimes off-kilter) character of the dance is interrupted by a recollection of the first movement’s material. The final resolution of the extended cadential figurations occurs at the end, and the work ends exuberantly with a flourish in Ab major.

Bach: Bist du bei mir BWV 508 for Baritone Horn & Piano

Baritone Horn TC,Euphonium,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552847 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3468186. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552847). J. S. Bach BWV 508  Score: 5 pages, Solo part: 1 page. Piano part: 2 pages. Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo. He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.  Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.  Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands      Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.

Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. Instrumental Solo,Piano,Piccolo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549238 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Easter,Standards,Wedding. Score and individual part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3469232. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549238). J. S. Bach BWV 508. Instrumental Solo,Oboe d'Amore,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550930 Composed by J. S. Bach - Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Easter,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #4888395. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550930). This arrangement features the controversial Schwencke measure (ms. 27) that was originally introduced in 1783 by Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance. Duration with repeat - 4:50. Score: 7 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. David Warin Solomons #863477. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1271084). Here is my 1976 Oratorio on Winnie the Pooh (Poohratorio) for alto voice, spoken parts, guitar and various optional other instrumentsGreat fun for young and old. It uses the whole of Chapter 8 of A A Milne's Now we are six -The expotition to the North Pole, which is now in the public domain in the USA.CHAPTER 8 ...IN WHICH CHRISTOPHER ROBIN LEADS AN EXPOTITION TO THE NORTH POLEONE fine day Pooh had stumped to the top of the Forest to see if his friend Christopher Robin was interested in Bears at all. At breakfast that morning (a simple meal of marmalade spread lightly over a honeycomb or two) he had suddenly thought of a new song. It began like this:Sing Ho! For the life of a Bear. When he had got as far as this, he scratched his head, and thought to himself That's a very good start for a song, but what about the second line? He tried singing Ho, two or three times, but it didn't seem to help. Perhaps it would be better, he thought, if I sang Hi for the life of a Bear. So he sang it . . . but it wasn't. Very well, then, he said, I shall sing that first line twice, and perhaps if I sing it very quickly, I shall find myself singing the third and fourth lines before I have time to think of them, and that will be a Good Song. Now then:Sing Ho! for the life of a Bear! Sing Ho! for the life of a Bear! I don't much mind if it rains or snows, 'Cos I've got a lot of honey on my nice new nose! I don't much care if it snows or thaws, 'Cos I've got a lot of honey on my nice clean paws! Sing Ho! for a Bear! Sing Ho! for a Pooh! And I'll have a little something in an hour or two! He was so pleased with this song that he sang it all the way to the top of the Forest, ... etc.

Euphonium,Flute,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141957 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Chamber,Children,Classical. 65 pages. Sy Brandon #742334. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.1141957). “Allegories†is a five-movement composition based upon Aesop’s Fables. It was commissioned by and dedicated to Frank Meredith. The first movement “The Trumpeter Taken Captive†is a fable about how one’s actions affect the outcome. The trumpeter, who incites others to do battle, is as guilty as those who slay the enemy. The euphonium represents the trumpeter by playing battle tunes. Then the ensemble plays capture music, begging music, fatal music representing the slaying of the trumpeter (euphonium), and finally music representing the moral of the story. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf†is the basis for the second movement. The allegory is that nobody believes a liar. The flute plays a shepherd’s tune to represent the bored shepherd boy. The ensemble plays excited music three times as the boy cries wolf, the first two times just to amuse himself. After the third time when nobody responds to his cries, the flute plays a lament to end the movement. The third movement reflects the story of “The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg.†A golden euphonium melody accompanied by rich harmony represents the golden eggs laid by the goose. The ensemble then plays greedy music that is followed by a minor key lament as the farmer has killed his rich source of income because of his greed. A sweet dancing flute solo begins movement four appropriately named “The Fisherman and His Flute.†This short fable has the allegory of “timing is everything.†The poor fisherman expected the fish to jump out of the sea in response to his flute playing to no avail. When the ensemble plays a similar tune, it represents his success when he uses his net. The fisherman says “you bloody fish, when I played the flute you wouldn’t dance, but as soon I stopped, you started up.†The race between the “Tortoise and the Hare†is the subject of the last movement. The plodding euphonium represents the tortoise and the fast and agile flute represents the hare. The flute takes a nap in the middle of the movement and by the time the flute wakes up, it is too late to catch up with the slow and steady tortoise. The race is not always to the swift.

The jazz swing style is a fun and fresh take on this familiar traditional tune.God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments.
