Arrangement is for piano/vocal/chords/Vln I, II. Full score and part scores included with download.Sounds like: Dar Williams, Rose Polenzani, Christina PerriFrom Album: Cycles of Life Theme: I am a tumbleweed tumbling todayMood: Gentle, warm, emotional, comforting, innocent.Musical Traits: Simple, broken chords in the left hand piano along with right hand melody that reflects the vocal line.Performance Time: 3:17Sydney Stevens music is available on: Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, AllMusicMore Links:www.sydneystevenswatermusic.comhttp://www.linkedin.com/in/sydney-stevens-532a113aBIOGRAPHY: Sydney Stevens began writing melodies on the piano before she could reach the pedals. Her earliest memory was watching her mother play classical piano. She began piano lessons at the age of 8, and started composing shortly thereafter. Stevens approaches her compositions as an artist. She paints musical portraits of the things that bring meaning to life: relationship to living things, emotional healing, discovering what matters most and honoring that as best we are able. Stevens' beautiful piano-based music aligns one with their own heart. Although some of her music can be described as New Age, her roots are heavily based in classical and jazz. Her study of classical composition makes her music more complex than some New Age music. Her music has been likened to the impressionistic composers such as Claude Debussy. Sydney's formal training is also reflected in her ability to compose for orchestral instruments. Her latest release, Cycles of Life, was solely recorded and produced by Sydney, programming all of the virtual instruments.Sydney has a great love for jazz. Keith Jarrett was an influence on her with his innovative and improvisational piano recordings and performances. She was particularly impressed with the freedom of style he portrayed in his performances. Bill Evans was something Sydney heard played as a young child. Where her mother was a classical pianist, her father was a jazz pianist. Perhaps that's why some of Sydney’s music can be described as a crossover between classical and jazz--remnants from those early years. Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins were big inspirations for Sydney's songwriting. She was especially drawn to the deeply emotional lyrics in many of their songs.Cycles of Life, the title track from Sydney's current release, was composed for her late step dad. The song is about the cycle of birth and death: Cycles of life go on, yet we carry all that we've known and loved through the ages. Time, another track on Sydney's current release, is a song about how time passes more quickly when we are doing something we cherish. Brian's Song, inspired by the loss of her father-in-law, reflects: All that really matters is the way we fill our heart, and the ways that it has loved. Dawn, a track from Sydney's album Seasons, is a beautiful piano-based instrumental with light string background. It portrays that very peaceful hour as the sun slowly lights up the world -- the hour of dawn.Sydney is a poet. She sees the world through a heart that feels the joy and sorrow of the world and those she meets. Her gift is the ability to transfer that emotion into music. Listening to her music is like taking a journey. She delves into depths of emotion, often taking the listener to places that can be difficult to go without the comfort of a beautiful song to accompany them.In addition to being a prolific composer, Stevens runs a b.

Instrument part. 47 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #5969-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.5969-E). The Journey is a twenty-minute cantata extracted from the opera The Dreamers. The opera was commissioned and produced by the Sonoma City Opera in 1996; Antoinette Kuhry, producer; musical direction by John Miner; stage direction by Sanrda Bernhard. The Dreamers captures a formative moment in American history where characters are separated by their cultural and racial differences, and brought together by their dreams and their longing for a new home. The Journey was commissioned by the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Michael Morgan, conductor, and was premiered at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA on May 18th, 2001. To set the scene for the excerpt here entitled The Journey: The entire town of Sonoma is gathered at The Collonade Theater to watch an amateur production of Shakespeare's Othello. An unpleasant racial incident occurs which brings the performance to a halt. To smooth thingsover, a sing-a-long is proposed. The song chosen is My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster. After a brief statement of that tune in the orchestra, the entire company enters a dream-state, as six characters from the opera, with commentary by the chorus, sing arias about home. Johnny Rowe, an American soldier stationed in Sonoma, serves as a kind of master-of-ceremonies. Black Sam is a freed slave working as a gambler in Sonoma to earn money to buy his wife out of slavery. Indian Princess Isadora is the last of her tribe. Jim and Mary Eastin have migrated to California from Kentucky. Lizzy Fine is a widow who sings a farewell to her departed husband. The finale of this sequence is an Octet, where all six characters and the men and women of the chorus sing their various texts together, ending with the words from Stephen Foster: Weep no more.

The first speaks to the space of wonderment in our lives, where good friends and experiences surround us. A time spent looking forward to the continuing joy and merrymaking of the innocence and purpose that brought us together. We then travel to where agelessness ends, where innocence no longer lingers. The bitterness within a life that begins to be complicated where it wasn¹t before starts to overwhelm the sweetness on the tongue. Still, the B-section of the piece yearns backward and forward at the same time. Tugging at the memory of what came before to find and create meaning farther on.So many of us expect life to continue to deliver its many delights, without realizing that it was the innocence and freedom, the faith in the possible that created the delightful condition of youth. After a playful frolic with the instruments dancing about in the musical forest, the A and B parts return, reminding us that unlike time that moves ever forward, the journey back to the wonder and freedom of childhood awaits us all. Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918220 Composed by Samantha Hogan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 37 pages. Coffee Seal Music #5988871. Published by Coffee Seal Music (A0.918220). Purchase Includes Score and 1 Set of PartsInstrumentation: 8 Part Trombone ChoirDifficulty: Intermediate-Advanced (perfect for advance high school or College level ensembles)About the piece:Jim [ten Bensel] graciously invited me to write a piece for the 2018 Minneapolis Trombone choir and I willingly accepted. In the span of a night before our next rehearsal (inspired by inadvertent procrastination and an explosion of ideas, not to mention an overabundance of coffee), I came up with this fanfare. The name comes from the Rush song Freewill, in which I quoted a line from Geddy Lee's melodic bass playing. It is hidden in plain sight. If you know the song, see if you can find it! The form of the song is a metaphor for life, the greatest test of free will. An ostinato that carries throughout the piece starts with only the first trombones. Eventually, you meet other people and influences that begin shape who you are, which is why the remaining trombones add more musical ideas as the piece continues. The middle section fluctuates between time signatures and tone colors (confusion, emotions) and the ensemble and conductor choose how the tempo ebbs and flows. It is never played the same way twice. Eventually, everything comes together at the end, which is why the ensemble ends, with the original ostinato, together.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1251539 Composed by Arr. Michael Sweeney and Percy Aldridge Grainger. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Folk. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #845816. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1251539). Lincolnshire Posy is a musical composition by Percy Grainger for concert band commissioned in 1937 by the American Bandmasters Association. Considered by John Bird, the author of Grainger's biography, to be his masterpiece, the 16-minute-long work has six movements, each adapted from folk songs that Grainger had collected on a 1905–1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England. In a similar fashion to these folk songs, many of the movements are in strophic form. This is my arrangement of No.VI. The Lost Lady FoundArranged symphonic wind dectet (double wind quintet) and bassA lilting 3/4 melody in strophic form. As the tempo is too fast for the conductor to gesture each beat of every measure, the movement is typically conducted in 1 where each gesture given by the conductor indicates a full measure instead of each beat. Every section of the ensemble states the theme at some point in the movement. This movement is based on the ballad of the same name,in which a lady, who while living with her uncle in a village is kidnapped by three Roma. After being missing for a long time, the villagers begin to speculate that the uncle is responsible for her disappearance, later imprisoning him and condemning him to death. At some point, the lady was found in Dublin by a young squire who loved her and was subsequently brought back to the village. Upon return to the village, the villagers, mere moments away from executing the uncle at the gallows, realized their error and set the uncle free, celebrating the lady's return with church bells (which are emulated by the tubular bells in the closing of the movement), music, and frivolity. As this movement was not yet completed at the time of the work's premiere, it was omitted for the performance. For Info:Green Bushes is an English folk song  which is featured in the second movement of Vaughan Williams's English Folk Song Suite, in Percy Grainger's Green Bushes (Passacaglia on an English Folksong), and in George Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow. The melody is very similar to that of the Lost Lady Found movement.

Her study of classical composition makes her music more complex than some New Age music. Her music has been likened to the impressionistic composers such as Claude Debussy. Brian's Song, inspired by the loss of her father-in-law, reflects: All that really matters is the way we fill our heart, and the ways that it has loved. Doubt & Determination (An Epic Sonata of Indeterminacy)

Small Ensemble Flute,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.993652 Composed by Dennis Garretson. 20th Century,Baroque,Contemporary. Score and parts. 5 pages. Dennis Garretson #4580777. Published by Dennis Garretson (A0.993652). Description:Doubt & Determination bridges the gaps between musical eras, as one would hear certain nuance that dates back to the Baroque era but possess a rather modern musical structure. The piece challenges both the listeners and the player themselves. For the public ears, one will have to adapt the performer's perspectives to 'feel' the piece. As the title suggests, both 'Doubt' and 'Determination' are two human perceptions that oppose each other, to understand the music is to find common grounds between them, through unexpected cadences and dynamic change. The performer will have to deliver the technicalities of bringing them together, through detail instructions on dynamics and tempo change. The piece is modeled in Sonata Form. however, it is to be approached with indeterminacy, occasionally granting the performer the freedom through Tempo Rubato and Breath Perceptions.Practice Suggestion:This music can only prevail through expression, thus the commitment for dynamic is of the utmost importance. It is highly suggested to understand what makes this piece unique, a score analysis is always a good start. Mark out the accents (Staccato and Emphasis) and the tempo change. Establish breathing points since the piece has very minimal instructions for that, it is hence highly dependent on the performer's capability to deliver.A proper mindset is essential for the perfect performance.Instrumentations:Certain instruments are optional if a soprano saxophone is proven unavailable. The permitted exceptions are Violins (high strings with nuance deliverance) and Woodwinds within the tenor and soprano range.About the ComposerDennis Garretson is young Pianist, Improviser and Composer.Born and raised in Hong Kong, he started as a self-taught composer in high school. and became increasingly influenced by Hollywood &Blockbuster sounds, which paved the way towards discovering his passion towards the realm of orchestral music & film scores. He produced his first soundtrack when he was 17 and secured his first Media Award in the 12th Annual Hong Kong Film Art Association for the best original composition.Currently pursuing a music degree in Nova Scotia Canada, Dennis has the honorable opportunity of studying under multi Juno nominated composer - Peter Togni. His style of writing could be described as - Adaptive Story Telling, allowing listeners to have their very own unique interpretations of what the music could be about while anchoring within reach of the composer's core idea. Dennis strives to be a composer of true versatility, albeit his primary interest remains committed to film scores. He has written in the styles of Schoenberg's 12-tone techniques and has gone as polar as modern movie and trailer music. His music has been commissioned for short films and could be heard on various media platforms. For work inquiry, please contact through social media.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775916 Composed by Jonathan David Barlow. Contemporary. Individual part. 16 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2026809. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775916). The term idioglossia is used to describe invented languages and often refers to speech patterns developed by twins. Barlow’s piece is inspired by this phenomenon. The musical ideas repeat, lengthen, self-reference, and develop freely representing the composer’s perception of idioglossia from his observations of recorded examples and live exposure. This three movement concert piece includes fast passage work, interesting textures, and beautiful melodies. Although challenging, it is composed to sit well on the instrument and fingerings are included to aid the performer. Alternation between dissonant pitch clusters and lydian material is common throughout. Indeed, a general dissonant-consonant-dissonant structure is represented in each movement and across the piece as a whole. 1st movement Uproot winner in the Colorado Composers Competition.

String Quintet Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1447120 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Stephen Levintow. Classical. 69 pages. Cypress Publishing #1026899. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1447120). Soon after moving to Vienna in 1781, Mozart wrote what turned out to be his last, and finest, three serenades for wind ensemble. He himself arranged the one in c minor, Köchel 388, for string quintet (2 violins, 2 violas and cello), and that version is known as K. 406. Most of the serenade in B-Flat Major, K 361, sometimes called Gran Partita or Serenade for 13 Instruments, was also arranged for the same quintet combination, apparently by someone else, with the movements divided up between Quintets No. 6 and 7 in the second volume of the standard Peters Edition set of parts for Mozart’s string quintets. The remaining serenade, K. 375, is appearing in a string quintet arrangement for the first time that I know of. While it does not have the dramatic intensity of K. 388/406 or the grand sweep of K. 361, it is a worthy companion to the other two works. He composed it “carefully”, as he explained in a letter to his father, and the piece is full of striking details that show this. In the first movement, the second subject is surprisingly in a dark minor key, and the development is based on it. But it does not appear in the recapitulation, replaced instead by a new major key theme. The first of the two minuets also has a brooding trio in minor. The heart of the work is the Adagio, one of Mozart’s great slow movements, and it should be better known. The long-spun overlapping melodies work particularly well for strings. The finale starts as a conventional Rondo, but breaks off into an extended fugal section (again starting in a minor key!) that gives the movement weight and power beyond a typical formula rondo. This arrangement transposes the original E-Flat Major to D Major, to take advantage of string sonority while making some of the passage work lie better for the instruments. Score and parts follow the current convention of listing the composer’s middle name as Amadeus, even though he did not favor it: His only recorded use was a letter he signed Wolfgangus Amadeus Mozartus, clearly intended as a joke. He preferred the Italian or French versions, Amadeo or Amadé, of his German given name Gottlieb (which he also rarely if ever used). CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

Individual part. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #1021041. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1441062). Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Memories of the Alhambra) is a classical guitar piece composed in Málaga by Spanish composer and guitarist Francisco Tárrega. It requires the tremolo technique and is often performed by advanced players. The piece was written for and dedicated to Tárrega's patron Concepción Gómez de Jacoby in 1899, commemorating their visit to the Alhambra palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain. It was originally titled Improvisación ¡A Granada! Cantiga Árabe. It became known through an early 20th-century publication edited by Tárrega and dedicated as an homage to the French guitarist Alfred Cottin.Performance notesThe piece showcases a challenging guitar tremolo, wherein a single melody note is plucked consecutively by the ring, middle and index fingers in such rapid succession that the result is an illusion of one long sustained note. The thumb plays an arpeggio-pattern accompaniment simultaneously. Many who have heard the piece but not seen it performed mistake it for a duet. The A-section of the piece is written in A-minor and the B-section is written in the parallel major (A-major).Arrangements:Ruggiero Ricci arranged this piece for solo violin and often performed it as an encore.Chris Freeman and John Shaw recorded the song for their album Chris Freeman and John Shaw (May 1981, EMI Custom Records YPRX 1828, MAC 126).Nana Mouskouri recorded a vocal version for her 1989 album Classical. Sarah Brightman recorded a re-adapted vocal version for her album Classics.Alex Jacobowitz frequently performs a version of the song on his marimba and xylophone. He recorded it for several of his albums: Spanish Rosewood (1996), The Art of Xylos (2002), and Aria (2010).Luiza Borac arranged this piece for solo piano on her 2014 CD Chants Nostalgiques (Avie AV-2316).Xavi Ganjam made a special arrangement for sitar on his EP Soham (2019, Ganjam Records, Spain).Italian violist Marco Misciagna published the arrangement of this piece for solo viola.Soundtrack use:Recuerdos de la Alhambra has been used as title or incidental music in many films, including the soundtrack for René Clément's Forbidden Games (as played by Narciso Yepes), for The Killing Fields (under the title Étude as performed by Mike Oldfield), and in the films Sideways and Margaret.Performed and arranged by Jonathon Coudrille, it was used as the title music for the British television series Out of Town and a version performed by Pepe Romero was used as incidental music in The Sopranos episode Luxury Lounge. Gideon Coe on BBC Radio 6Music uses this tune as a musical background at approximately the half-way point of his evening weekday show. A sung version appears in the Studio Ghibli film When Marnie Was There. It is also the theme used for Philip II of Spain in the 4X strategy game Civilization VI, with the track progressing from a simple guitar arrangement to an entire orchestral performance as Spain advances through the ages. The theme was part of the soundtrack and storyline for the eponymous 2018 Korean television series Memories of the Alhambra.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533673). Symphony No. 3, “Ave Maris Stella†(2005) was written for the Duquesne ContemporaryEnsemble and is dedicated to composer David Stock. Throughout his career, Stock has beena tireless and generous advocate on behalf of new music and living composers. This work isdedicated to him in tribute – as both an important American composer and a significantcontributor to America’s contemporary musical life. The work’s basic source material is the plainchant Ave maris stella (“Hail, star of the seaâ€) –appropriate because of Duquesne’s standing and history as a Catholic university. When thecomposition of this work first began, the original plan was for a celebratory and vibrant piece. As the planning progressed, however, personal circumstances intervened and began to changethe work’s tone – becoming substantially bleaker and more obsessive. The title of the first movement, Pentimento, is defined as “an underlying image in a painting,as an earlier painting, that shows through when the top layer of paint has become transparentwith age.†The melodic and harmonic material for the movement is entirely drawn from theplainchant source, although it is completely transformed and covered up – as in a pentimento. At various points, one can begin to hear the original plainchant “peek out†in subtle ways. The opening section of the movement obsesses again and again on what sounds like a“beginning†– as though it is trying to begin again and again. After a brief bassoon cadenza, afast and driving section starts, marked “sinister.†After driving through a series oftransformations on the plainchant material, a bridge passage leads to further attempts at the“beginning†again. Finally, these attempts are given up, and the plainchant material (theunderlying layer) begins to show through quietly – in preparation for the next movement. In the second movement, Interrupted Motet, the plainchant theme is used in a morestraightforward fashion. After the opening declamatory statements, the following sectionsmove between more free developmental techniques, based on the first movement’stransformations, and “motet†sections – using cantus firmus methods and textures fromRenaissance music. The tone and palate is, however, much darker and more obsessive. There is a brooding ponderousness to these contrapuntal developments. The final motetsection ends in a rageful shout, the plainchant material is presented again in full force, and thepent-up energy dissipates to the close.FluteOboeClarinet in BbBass Clarinet in BbBassoonHorn in F/BbTrumpet in CTrombonePercussion (1 player):tubular bells, vibraphone(Percussionist needs one rosined bow for vibraphone.)PianoViolin IViolin IIViolaCelloContrabass(single strings)This is the complete set of parts. Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 12 minutes Year of composition: 2006 Program Note: The mind searches for the oddest of couples. Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett. The violin and the vibraphone. Aside from the letter V, the two instruments have almost nothing in common. We consider: the violin is the most aristocratic instrument in the Western musical tradition, the prima donna of the instrumental world, an instrument that has had, lavished upon it, more extraordinary music than any other since its invention roughly 475 years ago. And then there’s the vibraphone, a percussion instrument with pitched metal bars and motor-driven resonators that produce a vibrato. Invented around 1925, it’s an instrument created for dance bands and popular music. Anything You Can Do . . . is a confrontation between these two musical opposites. A sense of contest characterizes the entire piece, as the vibraphone seeks to establish its bona fides side by side with the violin, which in turn attempts to keep the vibraphone in its place by beating it at its own game. The first movement is conceived as a race, in which each instrument acts like the other – the violin explosively and percussively, and the vibraphone with lengthy bowed passages – while seeking to shake off the other. The movement concludes with the violin paying a series of huge, chords and a long, sustained triple-stop that, much to its fury, the vibraphone manages to match with a sustained double-stop of its own. The movement ends in a draw. The second movement begins with the violin doing its best to match the vibrato patterns of the vibraphone’s variable motor. Ultimately, the violin breaks free and plays a broad, arioso-styled melody. The vibraphone tries to match it, but cannot; try as it might, its fixed range cannot reach the stratospheric heights of the violin. Advantage violin. The third movement is constructed in three sections. In the outer sections, rapidly rising and falling lines and counter rhythms pervade as each instrument seeks to gain an advantage over the other. In the middle section, alternating, hocket-like phrases give way to bent notes and glissandi in the vibraphone, which infuriates the violin (how dare this upstart percussion instrument do something ordinarily associated with me?). The movement concludes with the violin once again attempting to lord its greater range over the vibraphone by playing a long sustained F# - the same pitch that conquered the vibraphone at the end of the second movement – only to have the vibraphone top it by playing a harmonic a full seven notes above the F#. Game, set, match: vibraphone. Some respect, please, for the new kid on the block. Anything You Can Do . . . is dedicated, with a thousand-and-one thanks, to Victor Romasevich and Jack van Geem.

Composed by Bertold Hummel. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Op. 107 b. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6118. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6118). In summer 2001, Bertold Hummel composed the present work as a commission for the Asiago Festival and brought together in the grand dimensions of his 'Fantasy in one movement' - as he himself termed it - for the first time the instruments he had always loved much during his life. Asiago - the letters a-s-a-g, corresponding to the notes a, e-flat, a, g in the German musical scale, open and close the work - is a successful excursion into the complex sound combinations of percussion instruments and the mystical, sensuous tone of the violoncello, whereby the stringed instrument occasionally takes on a percussive role and the percussion is sometimes treated like a bowed. Driving rhythms pursue each other, alternating with meditative moments. Chorale fragments lead to a grand cadenza, in which the instrumentalists have the opportunity, following patterns provided, for free improvisation. The première of this work took place on 5th August, 2001 in the Duomo di S. Matteo in Asiago in northern Italy and was in the hands of Peter Sadlo and Julius Berger, who are amongst the most committed exponents of Bertold Hummel's works.Asiago is an effective examination of the wide range of possible tonal combinations between percussion instruments and the mystic and sensuous colouring of the violoncello, in which the string instrument is at times treated percussively and the percussion instruments in the manner of a string instrument. Furious rhythms alternate with meditative passages and choral fragments culminate in a large-scale cadenza in which the instrumentalists have the opportunity of free improvisation on the basis of specified models.

Men's choir - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7142 4 Motetten. Composed by Robert Sund. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7142. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7142). German.Commissioned by the Camerata vocale Limburg, this piece uses a sacred text from 'Ecclesiastes' in the version of the Zurich Bible of 1931. The text is made up of four different parts and set to music with different musical means. The first movement Wind has been composed for two three-part male-voice choirs. The music closely follows the natural declamation of the text, often in the form of a canon between the two choirs and the different voices. The second movement Licht is written for four parts. The light is presented in a slow tempo (poco rubato), often in high falsetto registers. Except for a forte outburst when darkness comes, the sound is very soft and gentle. The third movement is called Jugend and shall be performed by a young, enthusiastic and carefree tenor soloist. The text is based on many dactyls which gives the rhythm a youthful freshness. The fourth movement Alter tells how age progresses until the end. This is presented musically by a six-part canon which begins deep and soft and eventually culminates in high registers and a fortissimo. The work fades in a hardly audible pianissimo with the words of the preacher 'How everything is null and void! Everything is in vain!' (Robert Sund). Duration: 10 minutes.

Small Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522187 Composed by Tielman Susato. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 26 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #6371719. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522187). The instrumental music of the renaissance is enjoying an enormous revival and this arrangement of two dances is sure to brighten up your musical event. The dances come from one of the earliest collections of instrumental dance music, published in Antwerp in 1551 by Tielman (or Tylman) Susato and entitled Danserye. Little is known of Susato’s life except that he was born sometime between 1500 and 1515 and eventually became a successful calligrapher and publisher. Danserye contains about sixty numbers some of which have become well known since their revival in the middle of the 20th century. The two rondes in this arrangement are the first and sixth dances taken from a set of nine. Some of the dances have names and the first ronde is entitled Pour quoy? It is paired with the sixth ronde which has become one of the most well-known pieces in the collection. Several changes have been made to the inner parts to facilitate performance and the first ronde has been transposed down a fifth. Musicians would often combine several dances to make a more substantial piece and were expected to add embellishments to the melody, particularly in repeated sections. In the spirit of the original, this four-part arrangement uses flexible instrumentation so that you have total control over the instrumental voicing. The arrangement could be played by virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. This 4-part arrangement is presented in a single PDF file which includes the Full Score; Part 1 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 2 (C, B flat, E flat); Part 3 (C, F, B flat, E flat), Part 4 (C, B flat, E flat); Keyboard and Percussion. The optional keyboard and percussion parts are the additions of the arranger and do not appear in the original. This arrangement uses conventional percussion that can be found in any elementary school music room. The percussion parts may be interpreted freely and additional instruments added if required.
