This involves Ascending and descending which creates an interesting harmony as well as warming of the chops. This scale is synthetic in nature and is called the Neapolitan Lydian. Imagine the scale is stretched out on a 180° where 90° is the zenith. Once a voice (Vox) has reached that zenith and descends, notice the two angles which are supplementary angles (whose sum equals 180°). Score and parts. 31 pages. Gordon Cherry #4764795. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792262). Franz Schubert was the master composer of the German Art Song or Lied. Auf dem Strom (On the River) was written in 1828, just a year after Beethoven's death. With the performance of this and other works at a concert promoting his music, Schubert reached the zenith of his popularity in a career which was tragically cut short only a little while later. Mr. Sauer has beautifully transcribed this work in the key of E-flat (original key of E major) for Trombone, Horn & Piano. The Trombone performs the Tenor voice part of the trio. A substitute Trombone part has also been supplied for the Horn part. The lyrics of the poem, written by Ludwig Rellstab have been included with the score to better allow the performers an understanding of soul of the work. About 7 minutes in length for advanced performers. This transcription was first performed by Ralph Sauer and Hornist Stefan Dohr (Berlin Philharmonic) at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass.

Published by Brendan Vavra (A0.1026709). Vega is a concert chamber work inspired by a true story about a stray cat (portrayed by the clarinet) that appeared at the doorstep one summer. In this retelling the human (flute) cares for the cat in hopes of gaining her trust, while the human's pre-existing cats (the violin and cello) look upon the stray in disdain for invading their territory.
