Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.855097 Composed by Lowell Mason (1792-1872)/Sarah F. Adams(1805-1848). Arranged by Joseph Pugh. 20th Century,Concert,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 8 pages. Joseph Pugh #6188539. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855097). Nearer, My God, to Thee is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, which retells the story of Jacob's dream. Genesis 28:11–12 can be translated as follows: So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it... This brass quintet arrangement by Joseph Pugh, brings a new touch to the old iconic Hymn.

Canzon in Echo Duodecimi toni a 10 for Brass Ensemble

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792809 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Fabrizio Bugani. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 57 pages. Gordon Cherry #6623467. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792809). Canzon in Echo Duodecimi Toni á 10 was published as part of Gabrieli's Sacre Symphoniae of 1597, a collection of pieces including motets, canzonas, and sonatas for various instrumental groups. Gabrieli used the layout of his musical home, the San Marco Church in Venice with its two choir lofts facing each other, to create the first spatial or antiphonal music for early brass instruments, cornetti, and sackbuts.Maestro Fabrizio Bugani has done a wonderful job of editing this almost 4-minute work for a double brass choir of 10 instruments (two brass quintets). Included are numerous substitute parts which include Trumpets in C, Horns, and Alto Trombones. If one wishes a pure cylindrical choir; that can be achieved by using the Alto Trombones in place of the conical Horns. This edition is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is pitched in the key of B-flat, down a step from the original.Instrumentation is for double brass quintets of 4 B-flat Trumpets, 2 Horns and 4 Trombones.

March (from "The Nutcracker Suite") (F) (Brass Octet - 4 Trp, 1 Hrn, 2 Trb, 1 Tuba)

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813873 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 43 pages. Regis Bookshar #6612541. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813873). Brass Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the March from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (43 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a Brass Octet, consisting of 4 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the March from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

So, in addition to this version of the March for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Trumpets, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. Brass Quintet - Three Pastoral Sketches
Brass quartet : 2 trumpets, trombone, tuba
Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767578

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767578 Composed by Mike Lyons. Contemporary. Score and parts. 81 pages. Lyons Music Services #6422239. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767578). These three pieces form a small suite, linked by the idea of ‘pastoral’ or rustic situations and places. The first piece to be written now forms the middle movement, though at first it was the starting point. This is not easy music. It travels through several keys with large numbers of sharps and flats and in places the time signature shifts constantly. The first movement is modal, being based on the mixolydian and dorian modes. I took for this movement the idea of ancient Celts celebrating a victory and dancing and getting drunk around a smoky fire. Their chieftain strikes up a song, accompanied by a double drone. This melody is initially stated on the horn, with just two other instruments providing the accompaniment. At 4 before B, the remaining instruments join in, providing a rhythmic pulse and the melody moves to the Euphonium/Baritone/Trombone. Subtle variations shape the melody anew, leading to letter C. Here the complex overlapping rhythms provide a more dance-like feel to the music. Also, countermelodies start to appear which build the excitement. At letter E, the music becomes louder and the rhythmic pulse more insistent (perhaps they are dancing on the tables?) The mode changes to the more major sounding mixolydian. But from here on in, the revellers are starting to wend their way home, still singing and dancing and they gradually fade into the distance. At letter G, we’re back to three players, but with the trumpet 1 playing a rhythmic melody over the top of the original tune. The second movement is called The Aesthetes. The aesthetic movement was formed in the 19th century, but had been around before that in less formal garb. Their ideal was to emulate the Ancient Greeks and Romans – or at least their perception of what the ancients were like as found in statues, paintings and friezes. They adopted studied poses and were very effete in their mannerisms. Gilbert and Sullivan parodied the aesthetic movement in their operettas – particularly Princess Ida (but also in the Mikado and various others). So, here is a movement with classical lines in the style of a minuet, but in 6/8 rather than ¾ so that it can be more languid. All the melodies are ‘studied’ and ‘formal’ with long, languid notes and rhythms which don’t quite fit to the beat as the aesthetes pose and ponder and languidly look, studied and pale and wan. Because of the long notes in the melody, there’s an almost dream-like quality to the music as if they are seeing through a haze of Wormwood or Absinthe (a favourite drink of the aesthetes when they weren’t high on themselves or opiates). The third and final movement is called The Bohemians. This was also a movement at the end of the 19th Century. Where the aesthetes were ruled by rules, the Bohemians lived by none. They were considered wild and unconventional to say the least. The Bohemians movement owed much to the supposed free life and style of the gypsies and wanderers of Europe. Our piece starts with a gypsy violin style opening, including a cadenza, and then moves into the rapidly time shifting and gyrating gypsy dance. This section is in alternating bars of 5/8 and 6/8 with occasional 11/8 thrown in to keep you off balance. The frantic and frenetic movement continues up to letter F where things calm down a little – but not for long as the intensity increases again from Letter H to the quite sudden ending. This is tuneful yet challenging music which will take a lot of effort, but which will give a lot back in return.

Score and parts. 12 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636611. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813980). Brass Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (11 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single. In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Brass Octet, consisting of 3 Trumpets, 2 French Horns, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. Score and parts. 7 pages. Chicory Music #5327901. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734419). The Boar's Head CarolThis Christmas carol talks about a feast during midwinter in which a wild boar was served as the main dish and its head placed in a situated position to symbolize bravery and abundance. Closely related to the Norse tradition of boar sacrifice to their goddess Freyja during the feast of Winter Solstice, this song originated from an urban legend in Queen's College, Oxford back in the 15th century which tells of how a scholar from Queen’s College managed to kill an attacking boar and offered it at dinner. The song was first published in English during the 1520’s in a book entitled Christmase Carolles Newly Emprynted at London in the flete street, which was written by Jan van Wynken de Worde. It is also said to be the very 1st Christmas carol to ever be publish in English because it dates back that early.Although the modern versions of the song makes no mention of Christmas, the original verses does so in The boar's head we bring with song, in worship of Him that thus sprung, of a Virgin to redress all wrong; NoelThis Intermediate Level arrangement starts out in Bb Major and modulates to C Major for the final chorus. Performance time approx. 1 minute 45 seconds.

Peet du Toit #6038777. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802623). Rigoletto is an opera in three acts[a] by Giuseppe Verdi. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the 1832 play Le roi s'amuse by Victor Hugo. Despite serious initial problems with the Austrian censors who had control over northern Italian theatres at the time, the opera had a triumphant premiere at La Fenice in Venice on 11 March 1851.The work, Verdi's sixteenth in the genre, is widely considered to be the first of the operatic masterpieces of Verdi's middle-to-late career. Its tragic story revolves around the licentious Duke of Mantua, his hunch-backed court jester Rigoletto, and Rigoletto's daughter Gilda. The opera's original title, La maledizione (The Curse), refers to a curse placed on both the Duke and Rigoletto by a courtier whose daughter the Duke has seduced with Rigoletto's encouragement. The curse comes to fruition when Gilda falls in love with the Duke and sacrifices her life to save him from the assassin hired by her father. Many famous arias, and the quartet are among the many lovely moments captured in this arrangement. Enjoy!

A brand new setting of this carol for brass quintet (2 tpt,hn,trom, tuba). After a short introduction, we hear a fairly normal rendition of the tune with standard harmony. The second verse has the addition of fanfare-like motifs in the top two parts which add some sparkle to the tune. The intention is merely to heighten the feeling of 'announcement' which we get from the words. The melody is also much more decorated and placed into the middle of the ensemble. From Letter C there is an interlude of fanfares before the final verse at the grandioso. This is the loudest part of the setting and needs to sound warm, full and rich. This setting is intended to be played by any ensemble. I have kept the range used reasonable and it does not require any special techniques.

Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #4777739. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726087). The Gloucestershire Wassail is one of many traditional wassails (festive songs, carols) associated with the centuries-old tradition of wassailing. In the West of England from where this particular song comes, groups of people would go door to door, singing and offering a drink of mulled cider (wassail) from a large, decorated bowl (the wassail bowl) in exchange for other drinks, food, and gifts. The custom of sharing the wassail bowl is supposedly of Saxon origin, a drinking ritual dating to the Middle Ages and derived from one of the observances of the Feast of Yule. Today it is associated with Christmas-tide, the twelve days from December 25 through January 5. The word wassail itself comes from an Anglo-Saxon greeting (Middle English waes hael) meaning be thou hale or be in good health. This arrangement of a sprightly West-English traditional song features the voices of the brass quintet in various combinations, keys, and harmonizations, echoing the strains of wassail-singers across time and place.©Copyright 2019 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Classical,Contest,Festival,Patriotic,Traditional. Score and parts. 24 pages. Aaron Hettinga #698344. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1094241). Arthur Pryor’s famous theme and variations on “The Blue Bells of Scotland†has been a showcase for trombonists with strong technique and agility for well over a century. While this work is most commonly performed as accompanied by a wind band or with piano, in this arrangement the soloist is supported by a standard brass quintet. The solo part is unchanged from Pryor’s original, though there are some minor tweaks to suggested slide positions and other notations throughout. While each of the accompanying quintet parts do feature some small technical requirements, they remain at an intermediate level where even less-experienced players should be able to pull them off. Performance suggestion: as an option, it’s recommended to utilize Cornets and Euphonium in place of the Trumpet and Trombone parts in the accompanying quintet to more faithfully emulate the sounds of the conical-bore instruments of the period and to better separate the tonality of the accompaniment from the soloist. This arrangement is a great vehicle to showcase a talented trombonist on this classic piece of standard trombone literature!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.839015 Composed by Christoph Willibald Von Gluck. Arranged by Kenneth Martin. Classical,Concert. Score and parts. 11 pages. Martin Music Editions #5214105. Published by Martin Music Editions (A0.839015). Orfeo ed Euridice (French: Orphée et Eurydice; English: Orpheus and Eurydice) is an opera composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck, based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi. It belongs to the genre of the azione teatrale, meaning an opera on a mythological subject with choruses and dancing. The piece was first performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 5 October 1762, in the presence of Empress Maria Theresa. Orfeo ed Euridice is the first of Gluck's reform operas, in which he attempted to replace the abstruse plots and overly complex music of opera seria with a noble simplicity in both the music and the drama. The opera is the most popular of Gluck's works, and was one of the most influential on subsequent German operas. Variations on its plot-the underground rescue-mission in which the hero must control, or conceal, his emotions-can be found in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Beethoven's Fidelio, and Wagner's Das Rheingold. Though originally set to an Italian libretto, Orfeo ed Euridice owes much to the genre of French opera, particularly in its use of accompanied recitative and a general absence of vocal virtuosity. Indeed, twelve years after the 1762 premiere, Gluck re-adapted the opera to suit the tastes of a Parisian audience at the Académie Royale de Musique with a libretto by Pierre-Louis Moline. This reworking was given the title Orphée et Eurydice, and several alterations were made in vocal casting and orchestration to suit French tastes.
