All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Bookshar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quintets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library but this complete set would be fabulous. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public performances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after reading through them, making them much easier for most high school students.This selection, Heroic Music - A Suite of Twelve Marches (Complete), contains all twelve movements. The Southern Cross is one of Clarke's most well known Cornet solos and was written in 1911, dedicated to the Australians and first recorded by the composer with OrchestraÂ the next year Â for Victor Records. During 1911, Clarke was the solo Cornetist of the Sousa Band while the band was on a world tour that included visits to South Africa, Tazmania and Australia from March through to August. BelowÂ is a photo of the Sousa band from their 1911 tour. Clarke is sitting in the front row 5th in from the right with his moustache and his Cornet on his lap. He assuredly composed this solo to perform on that tour.Â The Southern Cross is a constellation that is only seen from the southern hemisphere and features the five stars of the Cross from the 1901 design of the Australian flag. This 5-minute virtuosic arrangement by Geoffrey Bergler features not only the Cornet, but a bit of all the other four members of the Brass Quintet. Instrumentation is for: 2 Trumpets in B-flat (Trumpet 1 solo, Trumpet 2 also plays Piccolo) Horn, Trombone Tuba/Bass Trombone The sound track features Mr. Bergler from his student days as Cornet soloist.

This selection, Burgundian Air/March of the Three Kings, has been arranged for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, by Regis Bookshar. It incorporates two Traditional French melodies into one exciting arrangement, which, I'm certain, will entertain both performers and audiences alike. It is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services but could be performed anytime and anywhere. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages). It begins with a Burgundian Air, played by a solo French Horn. The melody is then played by the two Trumpets in harmony before the rest of the ensemble joins in. This is followed by the March of the Three Kings, a Provencal melody (La Marche Des Rois Mages) which dates from the 13th century and recalls the Three Kings of the Christmas story. The peasants probably sang and danced to this tune, even perhaps honoring their own folk heroes, the French dukes, dressed in their shining armor and carrying brilliant banners, as they marched off to the Crusades. George Bizet utilized this tune as a farandole, or stately dance, in his incidental music for Alphonse Daudet's play L'Arlesienne (The Girl from Arles). There is a fugal section in which each instrument enters, playing an embellished version of the tune before concluding the arrangement. Adopted in 1922, the anthem's words are by John Grandell and the music was composed by Johan Fridolf Hagfors. The song was first performed during the song festival in Mariehamn 1922. In Ã…land the song is mostly sung on Midsummer's Eve and on the National day of Ã…land in June 9th. Euday L. Bowman's "12th St. Rag" is a fantastic example of a rag that was reshaped into many different forms by different performers. Our version faithfully reflects the structure of the original composition (I have been unable to find any other arrangements of this that preserve the exciting introduction.) It starts by giving the tuba modified arpeggios (to show who's "boss"!), then we're off and running with the familiar meat of the rag. The primary melody is passed back and forth between the trumpets, with the other instruments either playing offbeats or embroidering around the melody with delicious countermelodic snippets. The trombone part contains a number of Dixieland-style glissandos. Arranged for brass quintet (two Bb trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba). Performance time is approximately 2:10.
