Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813896 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6612859. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813896). Brass Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Russian Dance (Trepak), from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the traditional Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Trumpets and 2 Trombones, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the Russian Dance from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker.

Ewald: Quintet No. 4 for Brass instruments

Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.768520 Composed by Victor Ewald. Arranged by Roar Kvam. 20th Century. 204 pages. KVAMusic Edition #6424311. Published by KVAMusic Edition (A0.768520). Victor Ewald 27 November 1860 - 16 April 1935 Ewald was a Russian composer of music, mainly for conical brass instruments. He was born in Saint Petersburg and died in Leningrad. He also collected and published Russian folk songs. Ewald’s professional life, like that of many of his musical contemporaries, was in an entirely different field; that of a civil engineer, in which he excelled, being appointed in 1900 as professor and manager of the Faculty of Construction Materials at the Institute of Civil Engineers. Brass players however are indebted to him for something very different – a series of quintets which have become a staple of the repertoire and which represent almost the only, and certainly the most extended examples of original literature in the Romantic style. Ewald’s formal musical training began in 1872 when he enrolled at the St Petersburg Conservatory at the age of twelve. Founded in 1861 by Anton Rubenstein, this institution was the first of its kind in Russia and it was here that Ewald received lessons in cornet, piano, horn, cello, harmony and composition. As an adult he worked alongside fellow musical nationalists known collectively as the Mighty Handful-Borodin, Mily Balakirev, CeÌsar Cui, Modest Mussorgsky and the most famous of all, Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov. All of these men had day jobs in non-musical fields.Ewald’s contributions as a composer reflected an abiding love for brass instruments for which he wrote his quintets scored originally for two cornets, alto horn, baritone horn and tuba. I've edited these four quartets using Ewald's original instrumentation, but there are also separate substitute parts for the modern brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn in F, trombone and tuba). How Great Thou Art ? brass quintet

Composed by Swedish folk tune. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian, Gospel, Sacred. Score, Set of Parts. 13 pages. Published by Con Spirito Music (S0.181021). - Score,Set of Parts - Christian,Gospel,Sacred - Con Spirito Music
One of the best-loved gospel songs worldwide, ?How Great Thou Art? began as a nine-stanza hymn of praise, ?O Store Gud? (?O Great God?), written in 1885 by Swedish poet and lay minister Carl Gustav Boberg (1859?1940). In 1891 Boberg published the poem, accompanied by a Swedish folk melody, in Sanningsvittnet (Witness for the Truth), a weekly Christian journal of which he was editor. Today, the tune is commonly named ?Sanningsvittnet? in hymnals. From its Swedish origins, the text was translated to German in 1907, then to Russian in 1912. The Russian text became the basis for a translation to English by Stuart W. K. Hine (1899?1989), a British Methodist missionary who discovered it in 1931 while on mission in the Ukraine. Hine's work commonly contains four verses: the first two being a relatively close translation of stanzas by Boberg, and the latter two being original verses by Hine. Published in 1949, ?How Great Thou Art? gained great popularity in North America after George Beverly Shea began singing it in the Billy Graham evangelistic crusades in 1955. It has been named the #1 favorite hymn by respondents to various polls in both the United States and United Kingdom. ©Copyright 2013 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic.com

The song speaks of the Ukrainian people's courage, resilience and patriotism. It also speaks of the beauty of the Ukrainian land and its people. Brass Quintet - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Victor Ewald (1860-1935). Arranged by Edited by Roar Kvam. Romantic Period. Score, Set of Parts. 102 pages. Published by KVAMusic Edition
27 November 1860 - 16 April 1935 Ewald was a Russian composer of music, mainly for conical brass instruments. He was born in Saint Petersburg and died in Leningrad. He also collected andpublished Russian folk songs. Ewald?s professional life, like that of many of his musicalcontemporaries, was in an entirely different field; that of a civil engineer, in which heexcelled, being appointed in 1900 as professor and manager of the Faculty ofConstruction Materials at the Institute of Civil Engineers. Brass players however areindebted to him for something very different ? a series of quintets which have becomea staple of the repertoire and which represent almost the only, and certainly the mostextended examples of original literature in the Romantic style. Ewald?s formal musicaltraining began in 1872 when he enrolled at the St Petersburg Conservatory at the ageof twelve. Founded in 1861 by Anton Rubenstein, this institution was the first of itskind in Russia and it was here that Ewald received lessons in cornet, piano, horn, cello, harmony and composition. As an adult he worked alongside fellow musicalnationalists known collectively as the Mighty Handful?Borodin, Mily Balakirev, César Cui, Modest Mussorgsky and the most famous of all, Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov. All of these men had ?day jobs? in non-musical fields. Ewald?s contributions as a composer reflected an abiding love for brass instruments for which he wrote his quintets scored originally for two cornets, altohorn, baritone horn and tuba. I've edited these four quartets using Ewald's original instrumentation, but thereare also separate substitute parts for the modern brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn in F,trombone and tuba).

Brass Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Alexander Borodin (1833-1887). Arranged by Justin Chiang. Romantic Period. Score, Set of Parts. 30 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Borodin's String Trio in G minor dates from 1855, one of his early works for 2 Violins and Cello. It is based on the once well-known Russian folk song Chem tebya ya ogorchila (What have I done to hurt you?). The music is about 7 minutes in length in one movement with the lovely bitter-sweet theme and eight variations.

The Trio in G minor was largely forgotten until the mid 20th Century. Justin Chiang's lovely arrangement for Brass Quintet for advanced performers works exceptionally well.

Instrumentation is for 2 Trumpets in C, Horn, Trombone, and Tuba.
