Jazz Ensemble. Latin and Swing, multi-meter. The Dizzy Gillespie classic features Trombone 1 playing the melody as a half-time ballad against Latin style rhythm accompaniment. After an optionally open solo section (in swing tempo), an ensemble soli (without rhythm section) leads to a jazz waltz by the lower voices. The final section features Alto Sax 1, Flugelhorn and Trombone 1 in an up-tempo recap of the melody. See Conductor score for an overview.
