In 2020, when the quarantine caused by COVID-19 started in New York City, I had to start remote lessons with all my students. The mother of one of them, a doctor facing the hard times ahead of us told me: We need music in our lives now more than ever. We need to heal! Her words keep resonating with me, I wish I could help in some way and my natural instinct was to make this work.The work started as a single piece, but then I realized I had enough material for 3 movements more. The movements are named as follows:I. HealingII. AwaitingIII. MourningIV. RestoringHealing had its World Premiere in Costa Rica thanks to Dr. Rebeca OrdÃ³Ã±ez (to whom the work is kindly dedicated) and Lic. Johan ChapellÃn. The music reflects my personal journey through the quarantine caused by the pandemic of COVID-19. A Journey of hope that, for now, we still need to get through. The music is also a thank you card to all essential workers, especially those in the arts. Whose work and enthusiasm has made this quarantine a lot more bearable.
