Published by Grant Horsley (A0.785780). Salento is a Modern Tarantella.Tarantella is a lively dance in 6/8 time featuring quick steps originating in Taranto Italy. The dance was originally a flirtation one where couples danced in a manner to entice courtship, however it is more known as a dance of hysteria for when a victim was bitten by a spider (tarantula), it was believed that dancing furiously with tambourines would cure them.This Tarantella is in ternary form and in A minor and the most complicated note value is a quaver and the highest note is top E. I have kept both instrumental parts fairly equal throughout avoiding a number 1 and number 2Â I have left the bowing to the performer and I have placed it at Intermediate level, but the youtube link has the whole score for you to assess the suitability.It is ideal as a showpiece, useful for concerts, recitals or simply something a little different to play. It is 2 mins 45 in length and the price is for the score and parts.Flute, Trumpet and Clarinet Duets are also availableThe piano accompaniment track is also available separately.

The name Nocturne (meaning of the night) was originally an ensemble piece in the 18th century in several movements used for for evening parties. Later In the 19thc it's one movement form, it was adopted by John Field and later popularised by Chopin. It generally has a tranquil lyrical melody and is very romantic and expressive. I have tried to keep these elements in this Nocturne. Written here for Violin Duet and Piano, the parts are equally divided. Highest note top F sharp, violin 1 (once). Bowing has been left to the performer. It is written in the key of concert B minor it has a very gentle opening with harmonies evolving around a cycle of 5th's in places. The piece has three definite sections- the lyrical melody to begin with, a middle section building to a climax before a return to the 1st section. This is followed by a transitional contrasting section (poco piu mosso) wandering through a few keys to settle on an inner pedal tonic note chime. Gentle chords restore the opening once more- this opening theme climaxes towards the end and a gentle reflection of the opening bars concludes the piece.It is 4 mins 20 in length and price is for the full score and parts.I have set it to intermediate level, but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. Versions for Flute Duet, Flute and Clarinet Duet and Solo Piano are also available.

The parts are fairly equal throughout and the top note is top F natural which appears just once- the rest of the score is mainly on the stave. ITEM ID: S0.1152047This beautiful piece originally for piano has been carefully arranged here for Violin Duet and piano. Dora Pejacsevich was a Croatian countess of the Pejacsevich family. She was the first Croation composer to have written a piano concerto! This miniature entitled Erinnerung opus 24 or Remembrance, was composed in 1908 so it is very romantic and lyrical.It flits from A flat to D major and back, and is in ternary form. The Violin work is evenly distributed and they have roughly a 2 octave range with the top note being F sharp which comes once- bowing is left to the performer.The Violin parts are 2 pages and the piano part is 6. A Piano Accompaniment track is available.Valse Sentimentale is in ternary form, in 3/4 time and romantic in natureThe first section is a gentle waltz in G minor minor and the second section by contrast is in E flat major and takes on a barcarolle like quality but remaining in 3/4 not the traditional 6/8. It returns to section one again and the coda brings back a short reminder of the barcarolle theme in G major to finish.The range of the violins are around two octaves with the top note- top E flat appearing once. Bowing is excluded and left to the performer.Each part is equally divided to avoid the 1st violin and 2nd definition. I have set it to intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess. It would work well for a variety of occasions.It is around 5 mins 50 in length.Price is for the full score and parts.Flute duet, Clarinet duet, Oboe Duet, Alto Sax Duet and Solo Piano versions are also available

There are also other instrumental versions of this piece including Flute and Clarinet Choirs.Midnight Carousel is in the deep rich key of D minor to aid to the After Dark mood and mystery The piece has two distinct ideas.After the introduction a Circus- type Waltz begins, when this is repeated it has a very haunting counter melody which is both lilting and lyrical. As the piece develops, an out of character playful Scherzo theme begins which adds some intensity and mystery surrounding the Midnight Carousel. Both Waltz and Scherzo themes exchange dialogue throughout this section as if wanting some sort of control, when suddenly two accents appear to signify a halt We then return to the opening theme once more to lead us to a finish.Before the conclusion however, the Scherzo theme re-instates it's ideas before the final bars!The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this. Bowing has been left to the performer.Mainly Quarter and Eighth notes used throughout- therefore it would be appropriate for some early-intermediate players.
