In 1986, the Tennessee Dance Theater commissioned the Suite to be performed at Nashville’s Summer Lights Festival. A few years later Edgar Meyer provided the beautiful string orchestra arrangement that is contained in this score. The individual tunes are in various folk styles appearing in a chronological order O’Connor says, not only represents the evolution of American folk music, but also mirrors his own family’s migration from Ireland and Holland to America. It traces the family’s route through the thirteen colonies initially, and then eventually West during WWI nearly 300 hundred years later. O’Connor wrote the pieces in a manner and style he felt his family could have heard along the way. The Suite begins with Irish music, perhaps similar to the music O’Connor’s family brought with them. Then in a thoughtful progression, he reveals music they must have encountered living in early America. Strings & Threads musically describes how folk music styles hundreds of years apart are interconnected – possessing a common thread – from an Irish reel to jazz. The music is suited for advanced and intermediate levels but portions of the piece can be appropriate for beginners. Sherry Lewis Publishing #6093323. Published by Sherry Lewis Publishing (A0.521463). ANGEL'S SERENADE String Orchestra for 2 violins, viola, cello and string bass chords such as C, Em, etcIntermediate LevelScore: 7 pagesParts: 9 pages Time: 4'30MY QUARTET VERSIONS, in short notice work fine for solo, two parts and three parts however I also offer individual versions for one, two and three parts that are more detailed for these ensembles. Please visit https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=sherry+lewis+publishing for all of the titles I offer. If you can’t find a title then contact me through www.baysbest.com/smp-arrangeme/ and I’ll give you the link back to Sheet Music Plus’s listing.VERSATILE Titles that include four parts are written with the idea that they can be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians. Most of the contemporary/popular titles include a chord chart for a bass instrument.PRACTICE needs would vary according to the level of the performers but my goal is to be sight-readable for most performers and groups. AUDIO SAMPLE The 30 second mp3 is frequently shortened and may not start at the introduction to get to the reprise. The actual introduction will be in the sheet music.LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations. ARRANGEMENTS usually follow the original version. There is an mp3 where you can hear 30 seconds and get a feeling of the originality of the work.EXCELLENT for corporate events, weddings, social gatherings and recitals.APPROPRIATE for students and schools.CHURCH REPERTOIRE I’m always adding more titles. Sherry Lewis is a professional arranger and musician residing in Northern California. Thank you for your purchase!

Harmony (string parts – violin and string orchestra) MO168C-GString Parts (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor39 pages - 12:00 minutes in length Harmony Musicians For Harmony, an organization founded in response to the tragic events of 9/11, asked me to compose a chamber orchestra piece for their September 11, 2006 concert in New York City . I have composed Harmony for this remembrance concert. What I wished to do in composing this music was to reveal a more Middle Eastern tonality to my style which is derived from American folk fiddle music. As I become more and more familiar with American music in my own musical journey, I also learn that the music I like so much has many layers. It exposes mystery in its origins when one cares to peel back these layers. It is likely these Middle Eastern cultures play more of a role in American fiddling (and American music in general) than previously thought. In Harmony I use descriptive phrases printed in the score to indicate the temperament and journey of the music. Reaching Out begins the piece with its inviting and inquisitive drones. Throughout the piece there are several interpretations of the material with canonic and fugal writing. The music of Harmony is based on the same material constructed in a slow tempo in the beginning, a moderate tempo in the middle of the piece, and a fast fiddling tempo near the end. With hope in heart and music, I contribute Harmony on this painful day of remembrance. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861937). Harmony (score – violin and string orchestra) MO168AScore (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor35 pages - 12:00 minutes in length Harmony Musicians For Harmony, an organization founded in response to the tragic events of 9/11, asked me to compose a chamber orchestra piece for their September 11, 2006 concert in New York City . Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 2006 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCommissioned by Musicians For HarmonyFor the 5th Anniversary Concert for Peace 2006Merkin Hall, New York, NY – September 11th, 2006 Catalogue Number MO168ACopyright © 2006 by Mark O’Connor Music International For more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com

String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1365113 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. 68 pages. Studio at the Post #879423. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1365113). Parts only (see A879420 for Score). Duration: 18 - 19 min., 5 ensemble parts and 5 solo parts, average 9 pp each. Description: Triptych for String Orchestra sets up three contrasting musical tableaux in as many different genres. Though this approach is often called post-modern, the composer prefers to see it as an indulgence of the many types of music he enjoys. The work opens with a free form improvisatory movement whose sour romanticism comes from its rich chromatic palette. The second movement is in many ways the opposite of the first. It is a very tightly constrained serial work where the parameters of rhythm, inflection, and dynamics, not just pitch, get a full serial workout of permutations. The third and finale movement, then can be seen as a happy medium between the two extremes of the previous movements. It's in the form of an episodic Dionysian romp that alternates between expositions of an ever more shrill theme with puckish episodes of varied quasi-ad lib solos embedded in coloristic texture. There are three movements, Chroma - The Academy - Rock.

Original by Johann Strauss II Reduction to String Orchestra by Aaron Meier Part: Violin I True to the original work by Strauss, this reduction for string orchestra features the ornaments and mystical writing that defines Strauss' polkas. There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). Difficulty: Intermediate-advanced - advanced (best-suited for advanced student ensembles) --- Performance Notes: • Approximate length: 3:30 minutes • 1st Violins: In m. 1, trill a half step from a D♠to a D♮ • 2nd Violins:  - At m. 42, divide players by 3, with 2 players playing line A and the remaining player playing line B  - At m. 72-75, emphasize the E♠in the div. • Snare Drum: The buzz roll needs to be quieter than how it is played in the midi recording (*see YouTube link ↓) History: The Olga-Polka itself owed its creation to a Russian royal wedding which took place in St. Petersburg on 28 August 1857. On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.OMS156). 9 x 12 in inches. To a Wild Rose is the most popular piece in American composer Edward MacDowell's (1860-1908) well-known piano suite Woodland Sketches, Op. 51 (1896). Its simple, unassuming character portrays a pretty wild rose that one might encounter in the woods. Less elegant than their suburban garden cousins, the loveliness of wild rose blossoms is short-lived, fragrant and undisciplined. With this in mind, Stockton rejuvenated MacDowell's piano piece with a fresh orchestration featuring a lush string sound within younger musicians' capabilities.InstrumentationViolin I (divisi) up to 5th position; an optional ossia (the top voice down 1 octave) remains in 1st positionViolin IIViolaVioloncello (divisi)Contrabass (or bass cues in cello part).
