Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1247378 Composed by Chris Lawry. 21st Century,Celtic,Folk,Irish,New Age. Score and part. 3 pages. Masquerade Music #842013. Published by Masquerade Music (A0.1247378). Piskies Cove by Chris Lawry is a piece from a collection of six ambient original soundscapes for flute and piano called Tales from the Cornish Coast by Chris Lawry and Keri Degg inspired by the beautiful coast of Cornwall (UK). It was published in 2023 and is aimed at grade 2-5 ability level.Piskies Cove is suitable for Flute (Standard C flute) and the difficulty level of the piece is around grade 2-3 (approximately).A full Youtube playlist is also available if you'd like to hear each separate piece in its entirety (with sheet music samples shown) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyAj-0RktQoYou may like to see the contents of the full collection; Tales from the Cornish Coast (mentioned above)Godrevy Island - A beautiful blend of bird calls, waves, and flowing lyrical melodic lines coupled with syncopation make this an exhilarating play.Hanover Cove - Tranquil lapping waves and the light glinting on the water introduce this gentle (yet later stormier) soundscape by means of the dorian mode.Piskies Cove - Strangely hypnotising and eerily enchanting, the pesky piskies play...Lankidden - A tranquil and secret place with not a soul to be seen. The mixolydian mode and sparkling sevenths add to the beauty.St Nectan's Waterfall - Delicate and brooding, feel the movement from the chordal harmony. A great piece for tone practise and control.St Clement's Isle - Constantly shifting changing and turning, dark and turbulent, then light and full of tranquility and life.Tales from the Cornish Coast is also available in printed/posted traditional book format (with audio code included to download your tracks) and is also available in Bb clarinet edition and Alto saxophone edition.

Scriabin: Prelude Op. 11 No. 2 for Alto Flute & Piano
Flute and Piano
Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549473 Composed by Alexander Scria…
(+)
Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549473 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3499833. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549473). Score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 2 pages. Duration: 3:10. An introspective and meditative work with a lot of dynamic and phrasing nuance. Works well for church meditations or recital encores.BackgroundOp.11/2 Alto Clarinet version. First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt.FormsLikewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality.PhilosophyScriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Scriabin consequently advanced theories about the relationship between color and musical keys.SynesthesiaHe also may have experienced a condition called synesthesia where he could probably sense a response created from a different stimulus. Therefore, it was almost as if he could see music and hear colors. Scriabin, therefore, arranged the colors in a circle similar to the circle-of-fifths and assigned each key area a color. Finally, he assigned the key of C to the color red, while the key of G was orange. Similarly, he assigned D to yellow, A to green, and so forth. Strangely, he did not differentiate between major and minor key colors. MultimediaHence, his ability to translate colors into music certainly gave Scriabin a most noteworthy interest in creating multimedia events. Furthermore, He designed his biggest work, the Mysterium, to last an entire week. Even more, Scriabin made plans not only for music, but also colored lights, incense, and dancing. He designed the performance to occur in the foothills of the Himalaya mountains. The Mysterium was never performed, and only sketches of the work remain.Modern PerformancesIn modern times, we often experience performances of Scriabin’s most famous completed works accompanied by colored laser lights and incense. These are the Poem of Ecstasy (completed in 1908) and the Poem of Fire (completed in 1910). The lighting effects for these early performances were accomplished by the clavier à lumiéres. It was a keyboard instrument that projected colored light onto a screen.

Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria for Flute and Piano

(+)
Composed by J. S. Bach - C. Gounod. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Praise & Worship, Easter, Mother's Day, Wedding, Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Solo Part. 6 pages. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications
This ever-popular piece is often performed at weddings, funerals and many other solemn ceremonial events. It has always been a favorite among instrumental players and often used in recitals or concert encores. In 1853, the well-known French composer Charles Gounod added his own melody over a rippling keyboard accompaniment which was a slightly adapted version of the Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV846, from Book I of J. S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, published in 1722. The title of the “combined” piece was Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach. Gounod’s original arrangement transposed Bach’s keyboard part from C major into F major and it was scored for violin (or cello), organ and piano. In 1859, the French music publishing company Jacques-Léopold Heugel brought out a vocal version based on the familiar Latin text. Ave Maria (Hail Mary) is a traditional Catholic prayer addressed to the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus.<br> The version of Bach's prelude which Gounod used included the so-called "Schwencke measure" (m. 27 in this arrangement), a measure (bar) allegedly added by the German composer and pianist Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke (1767-1822) in an attempt to correct what was considered a harmonic weakness in the original. Whether there actually was a “harmonic weakness” (or possibly an error in the manuscript) remains a matter of conjecture but the fact remains that the most familiar-sounding version of this piece, recorded countless times by both singers and instrumentalists includes this Schwencke measure. It is therefore included in this arrangement.<br> Some published arrangements show minor inconsistencies in the rhythm of the melody. This arrangement uses the familiar rhythm of the Ave Maria version as it appeared in the 1859 edition.

Fl. Pft. - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM530 Composed by Brian Inglis. Flute and Piano. Score and Part. 29 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM530. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM530). ISBN 9790570484294.The composition of this sonata spans the period of my undergraduate studies at Durham University. In the first movement, an overall A minor feel is challenged by the near-atonal way in which the main gesture is developed; and by the intermittently chromatic, pentatonic and whole-tone scalic material which emerges in the piano accompaniment. In the coda [from bar 100] obsessive repetition of chords and single notes threatens to take over, until the tension is resolved onto bare E's (the note with which the movement began). Part of this movement was written in Siena on a summer holiday with my parents; the vivid presence of the Tuscan cicadas is echoed in the flute's fluttertonguing. The Passacaglia second movement can also be performed as a standalone piece. Shades of Bartok's 'night music' style are evident in the central section, where after a short flute cadenza the soloist flutters and mutters above limpid piano arpeggios. In the outer sections, a calm flute melody appears above the block chords of the piano's passacaglia cycle. In contrast to the heat of Italy, this movement was inspired by the image of an icy river connecting different wintry landscapes of cold light snow. A scherzo finale rounds off the sonata, dominated by trills emerging from a theme which rhythmically reconfigures the main gesture from the opening movement. In the central Trio [bars 39-49] the melody from the second movement is recalled to bind everything together. As with the first movement, the coda [from bar 99] develops its own repetitive momentum.

Fl. Pft. - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM493 Composed by Ernest Tomlinson. Flute and Piano. Score and part. 33 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM493. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM493). ISBN 9790570483921.All four of these pieces were arranged for concert flute and piano at the request of his daughter Hilary, who is a flautist. Pourquoi Pas? - This piece started life as a violin and piano piece written whilst Tomlinson was on active service in northern France during the Second World War serving as a wireless mechanic in the RAF. His commanding office was a good violinist and had found a local French family who had a grand piano. Hearing that Ernest was studying composition he was challenged to write a piece to entertain the French family. The piece was named after a local cafe much frequented by the troops. Chadkirk Idyll - Written in 2002, this was originally for recorder and guitar and then rescored in 2003 for recorder and string quartet. Naturally, it works very well for flute and piano so this arrangement was made at about the same time. Ernest wrote On receiving the request to write this piece, the description of Chadkirk and it's history conjured up for me an imaginary picture back in history. The mental image of a small and lonely chapel in the river valley at the base of a windswept hillside inspired the melodies around which the Idyll was shaped. Air - This piece started life as a cello and piano piece and has also been arranged for violin and piano. Linda's Dance - During the late 1950's and all through the 1960's Tomlinson wrote much orchestral music intended for use as background music in radio, films and tv. The piece was part of a suite that was eventually published as his first Light Music Suite. He always found titles a difficulty but his youngest daughter, Linda, was very fond of dancing so he simply called this movement Linda's Dance. The original orchestration was for alto flute but the composer was prevailed upon to make this concert flute and piano arrangement.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.772375 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Amir Awad. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 49 pages. Amir Awad #3506351. Published by Amir Awad (A0.772375). This piece is originally composed by Gabriel Fauré for Flute and piano , and it is arranged for Flute and String OrchestraThis elegant solo has some beautiful melodic lines and is Impressionistic in form and harmony. An excellent teaching piece to emphasize phrasing and musicality, or a great programming choice when a lovely lyrical moment is needed! This famous work is dedicated to Paul Taffanel, often called the father of the modern French school of the flute. He was a busy man, active at the Opéra de Paris, in the Conservatoire concerts, as the leader of the Orchestre de la Société des Instruments à Vent, and, from 1893, as a professor at the Conservatoire. Fauré was appointed professor of composition there in 1896, and it was almost inevitable that Taffanel should ask him, in the spring of 1898, to write a sight-reading piece (the Morceau de lecture) and a concours composition for the July examinations. Fauré decided to pass the orchestration of his incidental music for Maeterlinck's play Pelléas et Mélisande, on which he had been feverishly working, to his pupil Charles Koechlin, so he could get to grips with the concours piece. The Fantaisie for flute and piano occupied him from the beginning of June until at least mid-July.The piece opens with an E-minor sicilienne of great charm, but soon gets to a C-major Allegro filled with lightning-fast pyrotechnics. Writing to Koechlin, Fauré complained:I am drowned in the Taffanel and plunged up to my neck in scales, arpeggios, and staccati! I have already perpetrated 104 bars of this irksome torture The first performance of the Fantaisie was given by the concours winner, Gaston Blanquart, on July 28, 1898.
