Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549636 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. Jmsgu3 #3516309. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549636). Duration: ca 5:20, Score: 8 pages, solo part: 3 pages, piano part: 4 pages. One of Beethoven's finest and most famous works. Program for a recital, church meditation or school program. Sonata Pathétique Op. 13 First of all, this is an arrangement of the second movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique. It seems like Beethoven wrote this piece before becoming troubled by deafness. Published in 1799, it consequently remains one of the most celebrated pieces Beethoven ever wrote. As a result of its popularity, the movement was therefore performed by Karl Haas. Hass recorded it for a popular radio show called: Adventures in Good Music. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna for the rest of his life. In his late 20s, it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently, he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies, therefore, belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony, he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844641 Composed by Phil Beaman. 20th Century,Pop,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Phil Beaman #4414795. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844641). Vintage pop romance! This accompanied instrumental solo is a Theme and Variations. For the Theme I used an extract from the 1906 hit pop song I Love You Truly by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, a celebrated female composer at the turn of century. With each variation the melody and rhythm evolve further from the original Theme. The tempo also increases slightly as you progress to each new variation. The first variation adds chromatic embellishment, the second variation syncopates the rhythm, and the third variation uses triplet patterns. More life is added to your romance with each variation! Each person who has heard this piece hears something different, but in all of them it conjures up vintage courting; and most say it would fit a soundtrack to an early silent movie. So, at heart, this piece is still a turn of the century love ballad, but livened up and fused with subtle influences from other styles and periods. Perfect for weddings where you are trying to please everyone; a bit pop, a bit classical, and totally romantic!Works equally well in a classroom or lesson studying Theme and Variations. The easy-going melody only has a range of just over an octave. Its beauty and technique suits it for any recital as well.6 minutes with repeats, 3 minutes without; 6 page score; 3 page solo partRecording is of the Cello/Piano version and doesn't take the repeats.

Published by Jacominus Publishing (A0.1071461). Alicia Dine (flute) with Richard Roderick Jones (piano)Persephone Dances is a lyrical, free-flowing single movement piece for flute and piano lasting 10 minutes 24 seconds. There are five main sections. Persephone was the ancient Greek goddess of Spring who spent six months with Hades under the earth and the other six upon the earth. The sections describe these periods. The first pits the piano with its explosions against the flutes melodic line - the piano's sustaining pedal held down above which the flute meditates and cascades. The second is more gentle.with the flute and piano intertwined. There are elements of freedom for the players in the third section. The fourth section is like the first with the piano reprise of the gentle flute and piano writing of the second section and the peace ends peacefully. www.richardroderickjones.com

Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1460825 Composed by Franz Schubert. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 12 pages. Diego Marani #1039726. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1460825). The Impromptus, Op. 90, D. 899, are a set of four impromptus for solo piano composed by Franz Schubert in 1827. They were written in the same year as the Impromptus, Op. 142, though only the first two pieces were published during Schubert's lifetime. Together with the latter set, they have become a cornerstone of the piano repertoire. The third Impromptu (Andante) is an wonderful epitome of slow-moving Schubert melody over a flowing arpeggiated accompaniment. This lyrical and meditative work remains unified in mood and texture throughout. The piece is a classic example of Schubert's penchant for long melodic lines. This easy arrangement for flute with piano accompaniment is suitable for classroom, repertoire, recital, wedding or for an emotional encore.

Score and part. 11 pages. SCORE EDITIONS #1047444. Published by SCORE EDITIONS (A0.1469422). Claude Debussy is renowned for his contributions to the Impressionist movement in music, aiming to capture atmospheres and sensations through colorful harmonies and evocative textures. Clair de Lune stands as one of his most emblematic works, embodying the artistic expression of Impressionism in music. Clair de Lune is the third piece in the Suite Bergamasque, originally composed for solo piano. It is famous for its delicacy and ethereal atmosphere, evoking the serene and mysterious beauty of moonlight. The music suggests quiet and contemplative nights, with its delicate figures and flowing melodies. Debussy's rich harmony and subtle tonal shifts reflect his influence from Symbolism and contemporary Impressionist painting. In this version, the composition was arranged for Flute and Piano by Harry Walker.

Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281917 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 10 pages. Diego Marani #873271. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1281917). One of the better known nocturnes, this piece has a rhythmic freedom that came to characterize Frédéric Chopin's later work. The piece is 85 measures long and in 6/4 meter is written in ternary form; after the primary theme, the secondary theme starts in measure 19, followed by a modified version of the primary theme in measure 70. The opening section moves into a contrasting middle section in the same key signature, which flows back to the opening material in a transitional passage. The reprise of the first section grows out of this, followed by a Picardy third ending. This arrangement for flute with piano accompaniment reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for any purpose and occasion.

David McKeown #4594685. Published by David McKeown (A0.587625). The Wedding Album is a collection of four beautiful and timeless wedding favourites, arranged for Solo Flute with Piano accompaniment. Whether for that Special Day, for a recital, or for your own entertainment, these arrangements are ideal for players at an intermediate level or higher. The 24-page file includes the piano accompaniments and the separate solo parts at the end. Ave Maria was written by Franz Schubert in 1825 as the sixth song in his song cycle based on Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. It is perhaps the best known of all his melodies, adapted for piano by Franz Liszt, and for orchestra many times since. It is often sung with the Latin lyrics of the Catholic hymn of the same name and has been heard everywhere from the Disney movie Fantasia to the funeral of J.F. Kennedy. The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since. The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since. These four arrangements are also available as single titles for $3.99 each. Flute,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035214 Composed by Fréderic François Chopin ( 1810-1849). Arranged by Paul Taffanel, James Strauss. Romantic Period. Score and part. 7 pages. James Strauss #3518023. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035214). Étude Op. 10, No. 2, in A minor, is a technical study composed by Frédéric Chopin for the piano. It was preceded by a relative major key. Composed in 1829, it was first published in 1833 in France, Germany, and England. This étude is an exercise in developing the independence of the weaker fingers of the right hand by playing rapid chromatic scale figures with the third, fourth, and fifth fingers of the right hand. Meanwhile, the first two fingers of the right and the left hand play an accompaniment of short chords and single notes. Chopin indicated the fingering himself note by note for almost 800 notes. Paul Taffanel transcribe this Etude for solo flute as an Etudeof Chromatism, and I Re- arranged it add the piano accompaniment. .

The A section is set in the minor. It begins with a very lyrical melody. This section ends with a short variation that is much stronger. The B section is set in the parallel major and returns with a melody that resembles the first one. The return is set by the flute ending with the minor third which returns to the original mode.
