Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587770 Composed by Scott Joplin. Arranged by David McKeown. 20th Century,Folk,Ragtime,Standards. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #4896895. Published by David McKeown (A0.587770). The most popular of Scott Joplin’s piano rags during his lifetime, The Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films. This version for Alto and Tenor Saxophone Duet includes all four sections of the original composition. The tempo in recorded versions varies widely between 72 and 126, so the marking of 92 is a suggestion only. The linked youtube performance is the Alto Saxophone version of this duet and the repeats are omitted for brevity.Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around four minutes.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing, syncopated rhythms and light articulation. Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.974057 Composed by Trad. Øvre Telemark, Norway. Arranged by Alexander Bosrup Karlsen. Classical,Spiritual,World. Score and parts. 2 pages. Alexander Bosrup Karlsen #6245113. Published by Alexander Bosrup Karlsen (A0.974057). Draumkvedet is a visionary medieval ballad from Telemark in Norway. The exact date is unknown, but it's for sure before the reformation. The story has some similarities with Tundalls Vision, that served as an inspiration for Dante's inferno. From wikipedia: The protagonist, Olav Åsteson, falls asleep on Christmas Eve and sleeps until the twelfth day of Christmas. Then he wakes, and rides to church to recount his dreams to the congregation, about his journey through the afterlife. The events are in part similar to other medieval ballads like the Lyke Wake Dirge: a moor of thorns, a tall bridge, and a black fire. After these, the protagonist is also allowed to see Hell and some of Heaven. The poem concludes with specific advice of charity and compassion, to avoid the various trials of the afterlife.

Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. 2 scores. 4 pages. M das Melodias #785395. Published by M das Melodias (A0.1185733). Sheet Music for Alto Saxophone Duet.Amazing Grace is a Christian song that has become a popular hymn around the world, and is often played at funerals, church services, and solemn events. The song was written by Anglican poet and clergyman John Newton in the 18th century, originally as a hymn for the Sunday service of the Church of England. The song's lyrics talk about God's redeeming grace and the salvation He offers everyone regardless of their faults and sins. The lyrics also reflect Newton's own life story, who was formerly a slave trader but later converted to Christianity and became an advocate for the abolition of slavery. The song's melody is based on an old Scottish melody, and it's simple and soulful, allowing the lyrics to stand out. The song is usually sung at a slow, emotional pace, with minimalist instrumental arrangements that further highlight the beauty of the lyrics.Amazing Grace is considered to be one of the most well-known and beloved songs in the Christian tradition, and has been recorded by countless artists around the world, in a variety of different musical styles. The song is also an example of the power of music to connect people, regardless of their faith or beliefs, and to offer comfort and hope in difficult times.
