Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589704 Composed by Sholem Aleichem. Arranged by David McKeown. Hanukkah,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6088187. Published by David McKeown (A0.589704). Shlof Mein Kind is a Yiddish lullaby, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Soprano Saxophone and one Clarinet. There are two melodies in use for Shlof Mein Kind. The melody in this arrangement is the lesser known one, as sung by Paul Robeson. There is no record of the tune’s composer, but the words are a setting of a poem by the Jewish Ukrainian writer, Sholem Aleichem. Aleichem is best known as the creator of the Tevye short stories, which later inspired the musical Fiddler on the Roof.Shlof Mein Kind is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The simple melody is played three times with varying accompaniment. Shlof Mein Kind is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. Around three minutes long, this version of Shlof Mein Kind invites an expressive performance andis perfect for concert performances, both formal and informal. Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588572 Composed by David McKeown. Jazz,Latin,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. David McKeown #5776627. Published by David McKeown (A0.588572). Salsa de Shibby is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Tenor Saxophone. This duet is based on the style of Salsa. The name Salsa was first used in 1960s New York to describe the popular and commercial dance music made by Latin emigrés in the city. Most of the musical and structural ideas came straight from Cuban Son Montuno, but the lack of one single traditional root has allowed musicians from different Latin American countries to bring their own flavours to the music. Given the tensions between the US and Cuba, there have been accusations of cultural appropriation and Cubans dislike the word Salsa, but there is no denying the music’s worldwide appeal. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated, the melody should always flow, and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Salsa de Shibby has a performance time of just over two and a half minutes. You can listen to a full performance the Clarinet version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Silver Wedding, Klezmer Tune for Clarinet and Tenor Saxophone Duet

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589305 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Multicultural,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #6022211. Published by David McKeown (A0.589305). Silver Wedding, (Die Silberne Khasene in Yiddish), is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Tenor Saxophone. Jewish Wedding bands, prominent in early twentieth century New York, were well placed to take advantage of the phonograph recording revolution. Accordingly, we are fortunate to have a rich record of the musical style of the time. Silver Wedding first appeared in a 1915 recording by Abe Elenkrig’s Orchestra. Elenkrig was born in Ukraine, which may point to the origins of the tune. Silver Wedding is in a Bulgar style, a happy piece designed to escort the newly-weds from the ceremony to the feast. Silver Wedding is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in three sections; overall the tune is played twice with a short introduction and coda and with constant variations in the accompaniment. Silver Wedding is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around three minutes, this version of Silver Wedding is perfect for weddings, celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589325 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #6022267. Published by David McKeown (A0.589325). Silver Wedding, (Die Silberne Khasene in Yiddish), is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Soprano Saxophone and one Clarinet.
