William Faulkner named a novel after the song and there is a memorable performance in the 1941 film, Sullivan’s Travels.Go Down Moses is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. His life was a constant struggle with adversity, and Joplin died relatively young in 1917, at the dawn of the recording age.
