Published by David McKeown (A0.588953). Chosn Kale Mazel Tov, (Good Luck to the Bride and Groom), is a Jewish wedding tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for two Oboes. Often shortened to Mazel Tov, it is thought that the song was written by Sigmund Zelig Mogulesko. Born in Romania, he was a larger than life character who dominated Yiddish theatre on both sides of the Atlantic in the late nineteenth century. Mogulesko was a childhood prodigy, equally adept as a composer, playwright, singer, comedian, actor and impresario. Mazel Tov was written for a wedding scene in one of his productions but has since become one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards.Mazel Tov is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a slow and expressively beginning, the melody switches to dance tempo, with constant variations in the accompaniment. Mazel Tov is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Mazel Tov is perfect for wedding and concert performances, both formal and informal. It’s Been a Long Long Time is arranged as a duet for two Oboes.It’s Been a Long Long Time is best known to modern audiences as the song at the end Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers, after seventy years, finally gets to dance with Peggy Carter. The song of course, is much older. Two versions of It’s Been a Long Long Time topped the charts in late 1945, and as US servicemen returned from Europe and the Pacific, it perfectly caught the mood of the times. One version was by Bing Crosby, and the other by the Harry James Orchestra featuring Kitty Kallen on vocals. It is the latter version that is heard in Endgame and the one that forms the basis of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate standard will find It’s Been a Long Long Time ideal for formal and informal concert performances. with both parts enjoying plenty of melodic interest. The song was written on a hot summer day in 1945 by Mel Torme and Bob Wells who were trying to cool down by composing a wintry lyric.
