It is said that when an earthquake occurs, trees grow well.Though there is no evidence, the vibration of the earthquake seems to stir and condition the soil.Even through unprecedented disasters when the earth is cracked and the city is burnt, and even when people suffer from helplessness and anger, the trees (including apricot and blackberry branches) grow unaffectedly.Inger Christensen, the author of the poetry collection 'Alphabet', through her perceptive and lyrical senses, expressed that human beings are not managers of nature.On a lonely night, all we hear is the sound of crawling roots underneath the earth and rhythmic breathing of branches and leaves.....Not a few people consider classical music as something you listen to quietly while frowning. Tapping your feet to the rhythm is simply not acceptable. But I’ve always thought that classical music could be danceable - something that DJs can play at a club and you can move your body to.≪Tree dance≫, as the title suggests, is a musical piece featuring marimba and piano expressing the way trees dance in the wind. The music is almost like the classical version of craftwork, combining four-on-the-floor beats of techno music with the sharp sounds of modern music and organic poetry.I hope that the colorful musical notes on the score will be given life to and grow in this concert hall, creating a feast of dancing trees. The song's meaning can be found in our everyday lives - how things can become mundane and sometimes events beyond our control can overwhelm us. During those times, our thoughts may drift back to our youth and to the simple things that brought us joy. Remembering these may bring a moment of contentment, but making those moments a part of our lives again can lead to a lifetime of happiness.The music begins in the key of E Major, with playful, lyrical phrases before modulating to a section in F# Major, which consists of a light, airy right-hand melody accompanied by a syncopated left-hand ostinato. The flow pauses for a moment of introspection, before a similar syncopated section returns, but this time in the key of A# minor. This builds to a beautiful chorale section as the river is crossed, before closing with a variation on the opening theme in C# Major. Singable and pleasing to the ear, the piece's melodies may help improve dexterity, particularly in the player's right hand.

Published by Neal Fitzpatrick Editions (A0.955417). This is Impromptu No.6 For Marimba From Twenty Impromptus For Marimba by Neal Fitzpatrick. This set of music for Marimba is based my Twenty Etudes For Guitar. Both being polyphonic instruments the guitar and the marimba are certainly distant cousins so I believe the essence of works for one instrument can be expressed on the other, in either direction. While these pieces may in fact work as etudes for marimba I have purposefully renamed them. Whether or not they work as etudes I will leave up to each individual percussionist and teacher the extent of their didactic usefulness. Ultimately though all music can be used for study and my wish is these pieces can be used for study and performance. They are relatively brief and ideally played in sets, the number and selections being determined by the performer. Guitarist Neal Fitzpatrick has a B.M. from the Hartt School where he studied with Alan Spriestersbach and his M.M. from The Yale School of Music where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. He also studied extensively with Sharon Isbin and Sal Salvador. Based in Connecticut, he is active as a soloist and in the chamber music scene.
