I wrote As We Leave because I wanted my congregation to be able to sing an upbeat, justice-focused benedictory Amen with contemporary-sounding music and active lyrics that speak of God being with us out in the world, fuelling us for the work of loving people and restoring our beautiful, broken communities that God so loves. I don't know about your denomination or local church practices, but the section for Choral Amens in the hymnal I use is very limited. So, I composed five different versions of the lyrics, so that you can use this Amen throughout the whole year. The alternative lyrics begin with Advent, then provide words to sing together on Christmas Eve. Next, you can use the Epiphany lyrics throughout that season, and then return to the main lyric for Lent, switching to alternative lyrics for Holy Week, and then finally returning to the main lyric for Ordinary Time. If you are worshipping in a non-liturgical church, that's okay, too - use the standard lyrics all year, or switch things up by using one of the alternative lyrics whenever your Pastor is preaching on the themes mentioned in those verses! For $4.59 US, you are getting five different versions of the piece, and you'll be able to use As We Leave all year long, if you so choose. This is a great value for an Amen you can sing together Sunday after Sunday. The music is set in F Major and the accompaniment is simple enough for beginners and early intermediate accompanists. I've added guitar chords to the score as well as the piano accompaniment, for those who play by chord symbol. A YouTube video with embedded lyrics will also be added soon - so that congregations who are meeting digitally during the pandemic will have something to listen to and to watch as they sing along from home.

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL (simple) SONG I WROTE FOR MY MOM AND SISTER To be clear, it is a prayer written in musical form. I guess that makes it a psalm. A few nights ago I was feeling the pain of so many people around the globe who are suffering due to the pandemic. I was inspired to sit down and write an simple song of comfort for them-for us. The very same evening I started writing the song, unbeknownst to me, my sister was being taken to the hospital where she collapsed of heart failure and was life-flighted to the nearest cardiovascular facility.They put her on life support (ECMO and ventilator) to let her heart and lungs rest. Two days later, due to complications with circulation in her leg she had to be rushed into emergency surgery to pull the catheter from the artery leading to her heart. This required taking her off of life support four days earlier than they had planned. We were informed she may not make it. Thanks to thousands of people praying for her, and her own indomitable spirit, she pulled through-but not without more complications.A fever kicked in and lack of circulation in her other leg caused even more concern. Her heart and body were suffering greatly. As we prayed (and thousands of you from around the world prayed with us) I kept massaging and nuancing the exact melody line I wanted, at the same time interweaving various lyrics to intuit what felt right. I wanted this to be a song anyone could sing for their beloved family member or friend who was struggling. Every note, every syllable had to land just right-as if it was meant to be.Through all this my mother was going through her own bit of personal anguish. We were basically waiting for my sister to die. Due to COVID regulations nobody, not even family, could visit her in ICU. My mother bought a plane ticket... just in case. We hoped beyond hope that, If she died, she would not die alone. I wanted to finish this song by Mother's Day to share with my mother and my dear struggling sister who is also a mother of 5. I finished it and sang it through tears on Mother's Day. I have many friends show speak Spanish who are going through very difficult times due to COVID-19 and the subsequent quarantine. The second time through is a carefully crafted Spanish translation. I hope to hear people singing this far and wide with, to and for each other.

It has a Celtic feel and the songs are from several different countries - United States, Ireland, England, France, Germany, Scotland, Italy. There are 8 songs included, 2 originals, 2 medleys and 4 songs that you know and love included also. All of the songs are in SATB with an (optional) accent instrument part (choice of flute, violin or cello - parts included at the end of each score) - the score has the flute part so you can see where the accent instrument fits into the score. A simple piano part is included in each score. The voices and accent instruments help to complete the entire piece. You can also purchase individual songs on here separately if you choose to not purchase the whole cantata. However, it is a bargain to purchase the cantata. Catalan folk songs have a quality quite unlike anything else, and certainly nothing like the music we so readily associate with Spain - 'Flamenco' and 'Cante jondo'. The most famous of these is the achingly beautiful and utterly haunting El Cant dels ocells (Song of the Birds), made famous by the great Catalan cellist, Pablo Casals, and set (twice!) by Joaquin Nin, as well as an exquisite solo guitar version by Federic Mompou. All have this haunting and ethereal quality. These songs are well-known as solo guitar works by Miguel Llobet (1878-1938, Barcelona) in his celebrated 16 Folksong Settings, made famous by Segovia, and much-loved by generations of guitarists.
