The first day that I went in to meet them, I sat down with them on the floor and asked them what kind of performance they wanted to build. It was around the time that the Disney animated feature Frozen was very popular with kids. Or not, as it turns out, because one little boy’s hand shot up straight away and he said: “Tell you what I don’t wanna build: a stupid snowman!†He suggested we build a rocket instead. So that’s what we did. It’s a song about the wonder and curiosity we feel about the universe, of our desire to explore it, and of the determination and grit required to achieve that dream. It’s some very hard yards to build a rocket and to learn to fly it, but our dreams are always worth the work! I hope you have fun with this song. Teachers, I invite you to get as theatrical as you dare with it. In our original performance we had all these toy instruments, toy toolkits, and painted cardboard boxes. (So many boxes!). Let’s just say, if you think it’s gonna be ‘too much’, it’s probably exactly the right amount. Sally Whitwell August 2022.

Playtime was very outdoorsy, with Lake Burley Griffin and other large tracts of bushland only twenty minutes from a​ nywhere​, it was easy to be somewhere beautiful pretty quickly. There was lots of bike riding, roller skating, tree climbing, skipping stones on the water, and running through waist high piles of autumn leaves. The change of seasons is so colourfully vivid in Canberra, it just makes you want to be outside to taste it!I’ve tried to capture that playfulness in this song which I dedicate to my big brother James with whom I spent so many of those childhood weekends. The name of the piece pays tribute to a series of books we loved to read, Choose Your Own Adventure​.-- Sally Whitwell

Jubilee of Thanks was commissioned for the Grenada National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. Although heavily based on traditional coronation music it is generic enough to be suitable for any service of Thanksgiving or Celebration.Here is the description found inside the cover of the conductor's score:In order to gain inspiration and insight into this commission I researched British Coronations past and present. One of the oldest traditions is the use of Handel's oratorio Zadok the Priest. This 144-page composition was written for the coronation of King George II in 1727 and has been used at every coronation since. Thus I began my composition with a Handelian style section, borrowing a phrase from Zadok the Priest and developing it into a fanfare opening. Into this section I interjected the traditional cry of Long live the Queen, but set it in the old church Latin.The middle section arranges the hymn Now Thank We All Our God, originally written in 1663. This hymn is regarded all across Europe as the official anthem for services of National Thanksgiving. I created different settings for all three verses. Another tradition of British coronations is the use of Psalms 100 and 120. I have taken just one line from each Psalm and woven it into the hymn as a descant or antiphon.The final section is a Hallelujah Chorus fusing tradition with local flavour by using soca rhythms. In a sly nod to the opening section the very last choral Alleluia is straight from Handel's Messiah.Phil BeamanMarch 2012The choir is in 2 part but much of it unison since it was intended for a massed choir with little rehearsal. Interest comes from the changing styles of each section, 7 key changes, 3 meter changes, and the 2 Trumpets accompanying. A 4 minute easy piece of thanks and celebration.This entry contains the 10 pages of Choral Parts in a Lead Sheet format with just lyrics and melody of the Choir Parts. For convenience a separate entry at SO.309229 contains 30 pages of Conductors Score, 7 pages Keyboard Part, and 2 pages @ Trumpet Parts.

Published by Maggs (A0.1310792). “Come On, Ring Those Bells,†by Andrew Culverwell, is a delightful little Christmas song appropriate for both children and adults. This arrangement is for adult chorus (2-part) and children, though it could also be done with just adults or even just children (leaving out the lower harmony.) It’s also easily adaptable for 2-part women or 2-part men. It is mostly in the key of Eb, but modulates to F for the final 2 choruses. It’s a very easy number to put together quickly. Add some bells and have fun!(I also have a piano-vocal arrangement of “Come On, Ring Those Bells†available on this site.).

A very easy Christmas anthem which is designed primarily for a two-part choir or a soloist. It follows the melody of both hymns with very little change so it makes for a very easy-to-learn experience. The piano accompaniment is also fairly easy. In the demo I have the chords being played by a violin sound to demonstrate what might be done with a keyboard or organ just playing chords. There are some key changes between sections which help to remain in a range easily reachable. Two-part treble chorus with piano and percussion. 2:45I found this infectious little item in a book of contemporary poems composed by children selected by Naomi Shihab Nye, creating a ditty of a piece that uses just one repeated rhythm and simple chord progression.  Accompaniment is piano, bongos or conga, and triangle.  There is about 1:20 of music, with a trick/false ending, before it repeats.A fun middle school piece.The text is from “It’s Inside of Me!†by Adam Delavan.  Salting the Ocean, 100 Poems by Young Poets. After an appropriate period of mourning, DAVID calls for BATHSHEBA and takes her as his wife and eventually gives birth to a son. DAVID in the meantime still conceals to himself the actions that precipitated URIAH’S death. NATHAN confronts DAVID about a rich man in the town who has stolen a lamb from a poor man. DAVID outraged at the injustice tells NATHAN that the man will die for his unfeeling actions. NATHAN then reveals that he (DAVID) is that man [There Were Two Men – Nathan and the Prophetess’]. Now at last the matter is exposed and David must face his actions. As NATHAN and the prophets leave, one of DAVID’S men comes in and tells him that his son has died.
