Made popular by British vocal octet VOCES8, this arrangement of Dougie Maclean's heartwarming tune invites a slice of Scotland into the choral rehearsal room. "Caledonia" was the Latin name the Romans used for Scotland, and Dougie's original song has become somewhat of an unofficial anthem for the country. In an arrangement here by Blake Morgan, the textures throughout range from the signature "blended" sound of VOCES8 to a roaring climb through the Scottish highlands before returning to the final refrain in a hymn-like harmonization, bringing us to back to the place we call home. "Let me tell you that I love you, and I think about you all the time; Caledonia, you're calling me, and now I'm going home.".

It is a story of overcoming adversity, rising above social classes and the establishment of an entertainment visionary. Brilliantly played by Keala Settle, the bearded lady gives us an emotional rendition of This Is Me, with lyrics such as ?I won?t let them break me down to dust? and ?I am who I?m meant to be?, speaking of the struggle to be accepted in society.

The tetragrammaton Hebrew name for God, which transliterates roughly to YHWH, means I am that I am. There is something almost mystical about this poem as it was poet’s first one. Mary Elizabeth Frye was an orphan who had never received a formal education. In 1932, she and her spouse offered shelter from the Holocaust to a young Jewish woman named Margaret Schwarzkopf. When Margaret received news that her mother had died in Germany, the distressed houseguest told Mary in all hopelessness that she had never had the chance to stand by my mother’s grave and shed a tear. Mary then wrote the poem on a torn-off section of a brown paper bag. She said the words just came to her..
