The secret is in having each melodic voice be as smooth as possible, so that any passing dissonances or non-chord-tones are moved to in the closest, most natural way for the intermediate singer. The piece has been performed at services in Wisconsin. It also makes a good concert selection for any liberal religious school choir, or any secular group that wishes to acknowledge the roots of choral music in liturgical traditions, while keeping a non-denominational stance.
