Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.535388 Composed by Carson Cooman. Baroque,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 82 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3043975. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535388). I. SinfoniaII. To Mary on the vigil of her AssumptionIII. A Votive SongIV. The Heliotrope-the mind of man turned to GodAscensions (2009) for SATB chorus, traverso, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and organ was commissioned by and isdedicated to the Cornell University Chamber Singers, Holland J. Jancaitis, director. The work is a cantata consisting of an instrumental sinfonia followed by choral settings of three poems by neo-Latin poetJakob Balde, S.J. (1604–68), hailed as the Horace of Germany and considered one of the greatest Latin poets of any era.In the case of the three poems selected, Balde’s vivid imagery and mastery of Latin poetics are put in service of religiousexpression. The poems are filled with countless allusions to the classical poetic tradition; notably, he creates a strongcorrelation between the Virgin Mary of his Christian tradition (Balde was a Jesuit priest) and the goddesses invoked inclassical Latin poetry. Thus, Balde uses the older forms to express something that was, for him, contemporary andrelevant. (An analogue to this use of language is the idea of creating new music to be played on period instruments.)The opening sinfonia begins with an ascending pattern of triads, which returns throughout the work. The forwardmomentum is interrupted several times before the movement settles tonally. The first choral movement employs abouncy momentum to set the celebratory poem on the Virgin’s assumption. The second movement is a prayerful song onthe acceptance of death; it is spare and meditative, unfolding as a series of sectional canons over several drones. The finalmovement returns to the celebratory spirit of the opening; this time, instead of the Virgin’s journey, the poem describesthe speaker’s journey and compares a purposeful sea voyage to a directed life.Balde’s poems are provided in their original Latin and in two translations. One is a free translation in rhyming poeticEnglish created by James J. Mertz, S.J., longtime professor at Loyola University. The other is a newly-created literaltranslation by Edward J. Vodoklys, S.J., Senior Lecturer in Classics at the College of the Holy Cross.Carson P. Cooman, January 2009, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USAPERFORMANCE NOTES: The composer prefers a classically-informed Italianate pronunciation of the Latin(church Latin is acceptable). (It is important that V always be pronounced as V, not as the W soundoften used by classical Latinists.)The work is conceived for a chamber choir, as a larger choir would not balance the timbres of the baroqueinstruments. It is suggested that 16–24 singers be employed (no fewer than 12).As with much early repertoire, dynamic and expressive markings are kept to a minimum. It is expected thatdirector and performers will inflect lines expressively and naturally. The organ part is notated for a small portatiforgan with pull-down pedal (with no independent pedal stops). If played on a larger instrument, this smallerregistration plan should be kept in mind so as to create balance with the instruments and choir.

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8087-E Composed by Joshua Fishbein. 22 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8087-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8087-E). English.John Keats’s poetry is especially well-suited to music because of its rich imagery and clear formal structures. The music here was composed within an English musical aesthetic, appropriate for a text by an English poet. Much of the music, especially the double choir sections, were inspired by the English choral music in the Anglican tradition. In addition to antiphonal textures, this piece employs some complex polyphony, reminiscent of the Renaissance, with a rich harmonic palette full of clusters and cross-relations. The piece ends in a dreamlike state, where the grasshopper and cricket are blurred into the overall beauty of nature. May be performed jointly as Two Keats Choruses with The Human Seasons (8086).

English.John Keats's poem is colorfully painted with dense harmonies, imitative counterpoint, and repeated ostinatos, to evoke spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1312627 Composed by Aaron Gage. 21st Century,A Cappella,Latin,Renaissance. 8 pages. Aaron Gage #901478. Published by Aaron Gage (A0.1312627). Written for SSAATTBB Choir.I have long been fascinated with setting old Latin texts to music; particularly ones outside of the traditional sacred poetry found in the various requiems that have been composed throughout the centuries. Rather, I was particularly drawn to a poem written by the Roman poet Catullus. Simple in nature, the poem is only 3 phrases yet delivers a strong message of the turmoil found in the human psyche. “Odi et Amo†translates to “I hate and I loveâ€. The poem embellishes the poets struggle to balance the extremes of the human emotion and how torturous it can be to navigate 2 of our strongest emotions. The call of the opening “Odi et Amo†is repeated numerous times throughout the piece to drive home the 2 emotions of Hate and Love. The work commands exceptional precision of intonation between the 8 parts. While slow in nature though its tempo, the piece has numerous harmonic classes of 2nds to create not only tension, but a longing passion desperate for resolution. -Aaron Gage.

SATB choir, wind quintet and string quartet or piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3438-E Composed by Z. Randall Stroope. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Creation/Nature. Score & instrument part. 24 pages. Duration 8 minutes, 25 seconds. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3438-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3438-E). English.Northwest Passage is a set of “poetic landscapes†that reflects on three elements of the great Northwest of the United States—rivers, mountains, and prairies. Each sonic reflection (movement) combines to form a larger image, not unlike someone standing on a vista and seeing rivers, mountains, and prairies—each distinct, but part of one vast expanse. The work is scored for two versions: mixed chorus and piano, or mixed chorus, wind quintet, and string quartet. The harmonic vocabulary of the work maintains an uncomplicated, transparent (“organicâ€) approach in describing nature. The melodic vocabulary immediately pulls the listener's eye to the image, and rhythm is used as the underlying spark that is subtly ever changing and unpredictable. These three poetic landscapes should be performed without applause between movements.1. A Willow by the River|William Carlos Williams was a medical practitioner, pediatrician, and an avid writer. He wrote short stories, novels, plays, critical essays and, of course, poetry. The subjects of his writing were often “local†images, and he preferred to see the world “as it is,†without unnecessary trappings or “airs.†He was an important mentor to many younger poets of his day. “Willow Poem†(A Willow by the River) has no rhyme scheme but is comprised of fourteen individual lines. The willow is the focus of the poem (by its title and content) and how it never changes but will always “be.†The river represents, among other things, life quickly moving by and in a constant state of motion.2. Mountains|Marjorie Seiffert (who often used the pseudonyms Elijah Hay or Angela Cypher) led an incredibly full and balanced life. College introduced her to a world beyond her domestic and civic life and, as a result, she wanted to experience self-empowerment and independence. She prided herself in being a spouse, mother and maintaining a full slate of professional appearances and commissions for writing. Her poetry is vivid, keenly “visual,†and full of fast-paced, tightly woven ideas. “Mountain trails†(Mountains) was written at Glacier Park, Montana in September 1917.3. The Prairie|John Hay was an American statesman who was personal assistant to Abraham Lincoln. He also served as U. S. Secretary of State and Ambassador to Great Britain. He was a cultivated man of letters and wrote poetry which was straightforward in design and delivery. Nature was often the subject of his creative output. -Z. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1462). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.Winner of the 2nd prize in Bo Ejeby Förlag’s composition award 2021.The Lebanese American philosopher and poet Khalil Gibran’s book The Prophet has accompanied me for a long time, ever since I was first introduced to it by a friend, a Lebanese refugee, many years ago. I’ve returned to it often, to read and to make use of passages in compositions. The Prophet is a wondrous treasure trove of amazing poetry – covering life, death, and everything in between: love, friendship, children, work, power. And time.I always focus carefully on any texts I wish to use, read and rhythmize them in different ways they could be read and interpreted, and choose words and sentences that deserve to be emphasized, to stop and ponder on, or simply let go and flow. So too in this, in my opinion, magnificent poem. Sometimes there’s very little movement, sometimes it courses on in a mighty and unfathomable manner. Never predictable. I hope I managed to bring out the timelessness. – Sven Hagvil.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1373417 Composed by Phil Beaman. Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Pop,Romantic Period. 10 pages. Phil Beaman #957783. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1373417). I originally wrote Total Eclipse as an expressive Art Song for solo voice and piano. Â I used several lines of poetry from Newburgh Hamilton (1741) and set them to unique music that is a fusion of Classical, Romantic, and Modern, with a touch of Pop. Â The music expressively drifts from major to minor to modal every few measures, inspired by the themes of darkness and light. Â When I adapted it for SATB I filled out the already rich harmony and added ethereal 'oo's under some of the melody. Â In a few brief measures, at different places, SAB each will have a divisi line where it splits to 2 parts. Â (The texture is never thicker than 5 parts at once.) Â This approachable piece of music is a good introduction for singers to the interpretation of an Art Song and is a dramatic performance piece for concert. Â And perfect for the upcoming April 8 total eclipse!(Haydn also used variations of this text to create several Recitatives and an Aria for his oratorio Samson.) Â 10 pages, 2:00 minutesVocal Ranges: Â all 1 octave; Sop - middle C to C; Alto - low G to G; Tenor - D to C; Bass - G to Gattached recording is of the original solo voice version which SATB is closely based on. Â Be the first choir to record this and send me a link which I will post. Â plbeaman@gmail.comalso available on this site as a vocal solo in several keys, and as a Unison Choral hymn

SATB chorus divisi - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1370 Composed by Henrik Dahlgren. Secular. Octavo. 12 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1370. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1370). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. In 2017, I was commissioned by the male voice choir Svanholm Singers to write a work for inclusion in a concert marking 70 years since the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Choosing a text was difficult. I came across upon a poem by Maya Angelou, but it struck me as being too powerful and emotional for the music I was writing to carry it; everything I composed sounded banal next to Angelou's words. I soon realized that I could use silence to enhance the text, rather than heaping layers and layers of music upon it. Silence is both terrifying and serious - in a sense, it is the only adequate counterpoint to the poetry. So, I decided to build the piece on silence. Though the beginning of the piece is the opposite of silence - a scream of desperation -, I followed that outburst by cutting the poem's stanzas into single words, repeated in a different order each time, almost in the manner of a mantra. Finally, they end up in the right order and suddenly the words take on their rightful meaning. I hope, in this way, the music is equally powerful as the words. Son to Mother has been well-received and has gone on to become one of the most widely performed pieces I have written. It has been performed at various festivals and in various countries, including Taiwan, France and China - where it only just made it past the government censors. - Henrik DahlgrenThis version is an adaptation for mixed choir of the original male choir version. Henrik Dahlgren is a Swedish composer, born 1991. He has been studying at the Academy Of Music in Malmo with Prof. Rolf Martinsson and the Royal College Of Music in London with Dr. Haris Kittos. Henrik started his musical career as a drummer and has ever since worked in a very wide range of different genres and styles, both as a performer and as a composer.

Mixed choir (SATB) with soprano solo and piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q2598 Nach Texten von Andreas Gryphius. Composed by Karl Amadeus Hartmann. This edition: score. Downloadable, Score. Duration 45 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q2598. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q2598). German.’The towers are burning, the church has been ransacked, the town hall lies in ruins, the strong have been hacked to death, the virgins defiled, and wherever we look we see fire, plague and death which breaks both heart and spirit.’ Karl Amadeus Hartmann uses bold colours to depict the image of the Thirty Years’ War, the consequence of religious strife throughout Europe. The composer’s only choral work sets poetry by Andreas Gryphius and culminates in a muted call for peace. Hartmann undertook a revision of the music in his cantata Lamento for soprano and piano in 1955.

The text is by Canadian poet Frederick George Scott (1861-1944). The original title is Requiescant (Let them rest). The source is Christian Poetry in Canada (ed David A. Kent ed, Anglican Book Center and ECW Press, Toronto, Canada, 1993) page 54. Scott was a military chaplain during World War I. This poem was, in the poet’s own words, [b]egun while I was lying awake in a sleeping-bag under a tarpaulin at Brielen, near Ypres…. during the gas attack on April 22nd, 1915…. As I lay awake, I wondered what all our comrades who had passed over were doing now…. I finished the poem at a little village called Robec. As I wrote it, I could see through the window, my host, who was a carpenter, making a baby’s coffin. (http://www.canadianpoetry.ca/confederation/FGScott/collected_poems/notes.htm) I have made a few slight changes: awful has become awe-filled Dear Christ became O Christ, and the line A weary road these men have trod has been altered to A weary road these warriors trod. Both the music and the original text are in the public domain in Canada, where copyright expires 50 years after the death of the author or composer.A brass quintet arrangement compatible with the voice part is available separately.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.888255 Composed by Edward David Zeliff. Contemporary. Octavo. 12 pages. Edward David Zeliff #4765865. Published by Edward David Zeliff (A0.888255). This piece is a choral adaptation of an art song setting for soprano and piano of an original text in German contemplating the nature of the ever powerful ocean. The gentleman who wrote the original poetry did so in response to observing the waves breaking upon a rocky shoreline. There is an English text under the German that is a literal and exact translation of the original language and is so well worked out that the same exact music serves the text in both languages with syllabic stress and placement of words in the sentence. Thus it may be sung in either German or English with equal effect. This choral version is an enrichment of the vocal texture but with harmonic language derived from the original piano accompaniment. The piano accompaniment is identical to that of the art song and is somewhat challenging. The choral parts are not terribly difficult, but the difficulty is enhanced somewhat when sung in German. The constant ebb and flow of the sea as well as its power and majesty and mystery are evoked in this richly harmonic and strikingly melodic music.

SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8208-E Composed by Anthony Antolini and Dimitri S. Bortniansky. Arranged by Anthony Antolini. Advanced/Collegiate. Church Anniversary, Confirmation, Memorial, Classical. Instrument part. 10 pages. Duration 4 minutes, 15 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8208-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8208-E). French, Russian. The Russian version, Kol' slaven, sets the poetry of M. M. Kheraskov (1733–1807), a Mason. The hymn was first associated with Freemasonry in Russia, but its popularity quickly grew. It became an unofficial national anthem until it was superseded by Lvov's “God save the Tsar.†Except during the Soviet period (1917–1991), Kol' slaven has been used in Russia at public gatherings and military ceremonies such as the christening of ships, lowering or raising of the flag, and at military funerals. Kol' slaven also became popular among émigré Russians and has been associated with Russian emigration in many countries. The singing of hymns with multiple verses in chorale style is not a part of Russian Orthodox worship. For this reason, Bortniansky's hymn is not considered liturgical in the Russian Church but is used mostly for secular ceremonies. The language of the hymn is Russian (although with several archaic words and word endings) rather than the language of Russian Orthodox worship, Church Slavonic. In Germany, the hymn is used not only in worship but also for military ceremonies and is occasionally sung as a prelude to the German national anthem. This scholarly performance edition includes extensive notes concerning the history of Bortniansky and this piece, performance notes, the editorial method of the English singing version, and a pronunciation guide for the Russian transliteration.Duration: 4:15.

Shakespeare's much-loved 116th Sonnet - 'Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments...' - in a new setting for unaccompanied voices (SSATBB). Rich harmonies, sinuous melody, and a bright and joyful refrain make this a pleasure to sing. Perfect for weddings, secular concert programmes or for performers looking for settings of poetry. German.Originating from Asia, the short poetic form of 'haiku' always consists of three lines with 17 syllables. The concentration and conciseness resulting therefrom fascinated Berthold Hummel and inspired him to write these 11 miniatures for a-cappella choir and vibraphone. Without using any atonal techniques, he managed very impressively to make traditional poetry appear in a modern form. With great sensitivity, he gave musical expression to a text full of allusions.

Freeman Lewis's distinctly American hymn tune for O Thou, in Whose Presence is perfectly matched to an earlier devotional text by Joseph Swain. Swain's poetry stands in a long line of Christian devotion that frames the believer's mystical union with the Christ in the terms of marriage and romantic love. This 4-part choral arrangement can be sung a cappella or with keyboard accompaniment. It is appropriate for any church service, but particularly for use as a Communion anthem. .

It com-bines narratives of biblical verse and religious poetry, congregational singing, and original choral settings of familiar hymns to dramatize Jesus' final days and hours. The work is conceived to enhance the preparatory celebration of Easter The music is, by turns, reflective (THE CALL), introspective (O LOVE, HOW DEEP, HOW BROAD, HOW HIGH), commanding (RIDE ON RIDE ON IN MAJESTY), gentle(LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER), dramatic (GO TO DARK GETHSEMANE), and ultimately, life-accepting (WERE YOU THERE?). This noteworthy musical achievement enhances the most important celebration of the Christian year.

Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8243-E). English.I have always been fascinated with the juxtaposition of the grandeur of Christ's birth—choirs of angels and kings bearing regal gifts—set against the humble manger scene in Bethlehem. As contradictory as this may seem, it is also a fitting representation of the reality (and miracle) of that sacred event: the Son of God come down to earth. That is the story I tried to capture in the poetry and the music of this piece. The text draws on the 'human-ness' of the Christ Child and everything He represents, punctuated by the descending scale heard in the angel's recurring motive 'Gloria in excelsis Deo' that represents the physical act of moving from heaven to earth. From that night on, our world could never be the same.-Craig CarnahanDuration: 4:00.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074352 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 32 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #678653. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1074352). PROGRAM NOTES As of the present writing, this choral tone poem had been gestating for over thirty years, and the concept and harmonies for it for over forty years. In the 1980s I began to work with the latter two in my brief orchestral piece Little Sea Nocturne. When reading the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849), I am most struck by how musical they are. When recited aloud they exhibit their own rhythmic sense. I was eager to incorporate those rhythms into my music. I had long been familiar with his poem The City In the Sea and began to sketch choral passages for the present choral tone poem in the 1990s. It took me until 2022 to complete it because I required many more years of experience at my craft to do so to lead into out of the choruses. In 2012 I completed a seven-minute unaccompanied version of the choruses with music unique to and unifying it simply called The City In the Sea. In composing The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem, my goal was to write a piece that, while steeped in tradition, sounds unlike anything in the literature that had come before it. The result is an original hybrid work that successfully and memorably combines salient aspects of the tonal, atonal, and modal musical languages into an organic whole. George Perle coined the term “twelve-tone tonality†to describe the music of Alban Berg and composers influenced by him such as Luigi Dallapiccola. The last title of which I am aware that accomplishes anything remotely related to what I am trying to accomplish musically in this choral tone poem is the piece Paradiso Choruses by Donald Martino (1974). However, I take twelve-tone tonality in entirely other directions in my work. That the duration of The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem came out to be thirteen minutes seems appropriate for piece about a sunken city. Rather than write program notes that narrate how the music unfolds I will simply shout out the most memorable aspects of what careful listeners will discern: a recurring heartbeat motif; shifting polychordal harmonies; echo technique; rhythmic diminutions and augmentations; an a cappella chorus featuring those harmonies with a surprisingly memorable recuring theme on top; sensuous flute duets; string section underpinnings by way of either sustained passages or wave-like gestures; tritone-related melodies, harmonies, and tone centers; several strategically placed grand pauses; tritone-related modal-sounding passages; melodic and chord clusters, especially the two climactic ones. INSTRUMENTATION 2 Flutes (2. doubles on Piccolo) 2 Oboes (2. doubles on English Horn) 2 Bb Clarinets 2 Bassoons 2 F Horns 2 C Trumpets 2 Trombones Tuba Timpani Percussion (Gong, Bass Drum, Chimes, Glockenspiel) Harp Strings DURATION 13:00 Stanley M. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915699 Composed by Richard Joseph Barber. Christian,Contemporary,Gospel,Sacred. Octavo. 16 pages. Barber Music Company #4727369. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915699). DedicationSometime in the 1980's, Richard Tober, a brother in Christ who was also an appliance repair man, came to our house on Hill Street in Coloma, Michigan to fix our kitchen range. He knew that I was a composer, and during the course of his time with us that day he told about his love for Jesus and his aspiration to write poetry with music to express that love. He didn't feel he was equipped to put music to his words, but he did have a poem that he gave me, wondering if I would set it to music for him. It was a difficult task because Richard's poetry was not set up in any formal poetic fashion; it was, however, a fulfilling task because his poem was such a simple, childlike, personal expression of his love for the Lord. I Am Going Home to Glory is the result of our collaboration. He was thrilled with the outcome. Now that Richard has left this world to be with Jesus, I am happy that God allowed and enabled me to set Richard's poem to music. -Richard Barber

Returning home, he began his law practice and eventually became mayor of Guben. As an avocation, the Lutheran politician wrote poems–and soonbecame known as one of the leading hymnists of his time, ranked only behind Gerhard. He is credited for the creation of a group of so-called Jesus hymns, building the foundation for the pietistic hymn movement that would later sweep through Europe. Franck once wrote that poetry should be the nurse of piety, the herald of immortality, the promoter of cheerfulness, the conqueror of sadness, and a foretaste of heavenly glory. Indeed, his hymns echoed his own spirit of encouragement.Lyndell Leatherman (b. 1953) was born into a Nazarene parsonage in southeast Kansas. After studying church music and composition at Olivet Nazarene University (Kankakee, Illinois) and Illinois State University (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), he launched into a life of music ministry. Since 1977 he has enjoyed a diverse career as church musician, editor, accompanist, composer, and arranger. In 1998 he became aware of Franck’s eucharistic / Advent hymn, translated either Deck Thyself with Joy and Gladness (Mattes) or Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness (Winkworth). Because the text was unique in its unusually exultant treatment of the sacrament of holy communion, Lyndell felt that the hymn was worthy of renewed consideration in the third millennium of Christian worship. So he updated the language and gave it the new musical setting used here. ************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.965556 Composed by Ron Anderson. A Cappella,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 9 pages. Ron James Anderson #5994791. Published by Ron James Anderson (A0.965556). Wilt Thou Forgive? is a setting of the John Donne poem, A Hymn to God the Father. John Donne (1572 – 1631) was one of the greatest of the metaphysical poets in England, a group that included George Herbert, Andrew Marvell, and possibly John Milton. An Anglican priest with a less than perfect moral reputation, Donne expressed through his poetry (notably, the Holy Sonnets) the incongruities of human attempts at living the Christian life.In the present poem, the speaker reveals his struggles with sin-the sin he was born with, the sin he commits daily, the sin through which he influences others to sin, and the sin he has quit for a short while, only to take up again for many more years. He confesses yet another sin: the fear that he will perish on the shore, presumably to die with unforgiven sins, consigned to eternal damnation. His desperate plea is that God’s Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore. If God answers this prayer, he will fear no more, and will know that all his sins, including the sin of fear, are finally forgiven. This musical setting uses subtle inflection of rhythm and meter to mirror the text, aiming for natural prosody of speech and expressive accentuation. Melodic contours emphasize important words, while harmonic placement projects the various moods throughout the poem. The key relationships involve mostly shifts of minor 3rds; starting in D minor, the piece moves through several keys, reaching its final statement in D major. A variety of textures maintains aural interest: clusters and close harmony, full divisi chords, and an imitative passage painting the words, won others to sin, and made my sin their door. A series of shimmering major chords brings the work to a close, declaiming the words, Thy Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore, and, I fear no more.
