C Instrument - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.499608 Composed by E.Y. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Film/TV,Jazz,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns.  You can also type John Fries in the searchbar to see all I have to offer. Over the Rainbow is a ballad composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg. It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland. Arlen would often carry blank pieces of music manuscript in his pockets to jot down short melodic ideas. He described how the inspiration for the melody to Over the Rainbow came to him suddenly while his wife Anya drove: I said to Mrs. Arlen... 'let's go to Grauman's Chinese ... You drive the car, I don't feel too well right now.' I wasn't thinking of work. I wasn't consciously thinking of work, I just wanted to relax. And as we drove by Schwab's Drug Store on Sunset I said, 'Pull over, please.' ... And we stopped and I really don't know why—bless the muses—and I took out my little bit of manuscript and put down what you know now as 'Over the Rainbow.'.

C Instrument - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1289648 By Traditional. By Traditional. Arranged by Martin Hay. 19th Century,Celtic,Irish,Multicultural,Traditional,Wedding,World. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. Martin Hay #880353. Published by Martin Hay (A0.1289648). The Gay Gordons is a lively Scottish country dance that is popular at social gatherings and ceilidhs (traditional Scottish dances). It is a partner dance that involves a combination of skipping steps and waltz-like moves. The dance is typically done in a circular formation with couples facing each other. Here is a basic description of how the Gay Gordons dance is performed:1. **Starting Position:** Couples stand facing each other in a large circle, holding hands. The dance begins with partners side by side, with the man's right hand holding the woman's left hand.2. **Skipping Steps:** The dance starts with a series of skipping steps, where couples move in a circle to the right, taking small skipping steps.3. **Turns:** After a few rounds of skipping, couples will turn 180 degrees to face the opposite direction, still holding hands.4. **Waltz Hold:** Once turned, couples adopt a waltz hold, with the man's right hand around the woman's waist, and the woman's left hand on the man's shoulder. The other hands are joined together.5. **Waltz:** Couples then waltz around the dance floor in a clockwise direction, often taking a few spins.6. **Repeat:** The dance continues with more skipping steps, turns, and waltzing. It is a joyful and energetic dance that is typically danced to traditional Scottish music. The songs in this Gay Gordons set are:**1. The Thistle of Scotland:**The Thistle of Scotland is not a widely recognized or specific song title in Scottish music. Scotland has a rich musical tradition with many songs that celebrate its culture, history, and symbols. The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland, so there may be various songs that reference it indirectly.**2. Mhairi's Wedding:**Mhairi's Wedding is a popular Scottish folk song often played at weddings and celebrations. It tells the story of a wedding celebration and is known for its catchy melody and lyrics that celebrate the joyous occasion of Mhairi's wedding.**3. The Barren Rocks of Aden:**The Barren Rocks of Aden is a famous Scottish military march. It is often played by bagpipe bands and has a distinctive and stirring melody. The tune is associated with the British Army and is a common choice for military processions and parades.**4. Scotland the Brave:**Scotland the Brave is another well-known Scottish patriotic song and march. It is often played at national and sporting events in Scotland. The song celebrates the beauty and spirit of Scotland and is characterized by its uplifting and proud melody. It is a favorite among bagpipers and is often performed with great enthusiasm. These songs are all part of Scotland's rich musical heritage and are played at various occasions to celebrate its culture and history.

Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns.  You can also type John Fries in the searchbar to see all I have to offer.  They All Laughed is a song composed by George Gershwin, with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, written for the 1937 film Shall We Dance where it was introduced by Ginger Rogers as part of a song and dance routine with Fred Astaire.  The lyrics compare those who laughed at me, wanting you with those who laughed at some of history's famous scientific and industrial pioneers, asking, Who's got the last laugh now? People and advances mentioned are Christopher Columbus's proof the Earth is round; Thomas Edison's phonograph; Guglielmo Marconi's wireless telegraphy; the Wright brothers's first flight; the Rockefeller Center; Eli Whitney's cotton gin; Robert Fulton's North River Steamboat; Milton S. Hershey's Hershey bar chocolate; and Henry Ford's Tin Lizzy Model T car.

Broadway,Instructional,Jazz,Musical/Show,Traditional,Wedding. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. Davi Rocha Campos #707836. Published by Davi Rocha Campos (A0.1104610). This score is in Db, but, the audio is in Ab. How to read accidents in sheet music Lesson 9 Signs of change. This class is about sharp #, flat b and bequadro (I can't do this sign by keyboard. That's why it's important to watch this class that will be on the card in the upper right corner). There are still the signs of double sharp x or ## and double flat bb. Don't be folded bequadro. I ask permission to use pleonasm Sharp # function: raises the pitch of the note by a semitone up. Makes the note a semitone higher. B-flat function: lower the pitch of the note by a semitone down. Makes the note a semitone lower. Double sharp x or ## function: raise the pitch of the note by one step. Makes the note a higher pitch. Double-flat bb function: lower the pitch of the note by one tone. Makes the pitch of the note a lower pitch. Bequadro function (I can't make this signal by keyboard. That's why it's important to watch this class that will be on the cards in the upper right corner). Nullify both the sharp (whether it's doubled or not) and the flat function (whether it's doubled or not). The bequadro still cancels the accidents of the key signature. Lesson 10 Bars and bar numbers It is a vertical line placed on the pentagram. It serves to organize the writing of the score in a Cartesian way. When the amount of beats exceeds the measure, it is necessary to place the vertical line and continue in another measure. This is one of the reasons to know the bar count. Another reason is when a large group is going to rehearse a song and it is often necessary to stop the rehearsal in order to make necessary adjustments. In this case, to optimize the rehearsal, the music is not restarted from measure 1, but from a few measures before the adjustments made, whether by the group, conductors, etc. The barline cancels out the accidentals that occur. For example, if an F# note appears in the middle of a piece of music, when that F moves to the next measure, it will no longer be sharp. The barline also cancels the bequadro in this situation, that is, if by chance the music is not set to a key other than C major or A minor, when the bequadro appears precisely on the keynote note, in the next bar if it is not spelled again, the key signature accident takes effect. C Instrument - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842476 By The Fray. By Isaac Slade and Joseph King. Arranged by Ben Clapton. Rock. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 3 pages. Ben Clapton #4597303. Published by Ben Clapton (A0.842476). You Found Me was released by American rock band The Fray in 2008. It was their third single to sell 2 million downloads in the US, and marked The Fray's first number one hit in Australia. This is a lead sheet for the song, which has the melody and lyrics, and guitar chords. The song is written in B, and it has capo chords at capo 4 to utilise open chords. From Wikipedia:In an interview, lead singer and pianist Isaac Slade expressed his meaning behind the lyrics of the song:'You Found Me' is such a great song you should really listen to it. I love it as if it were my own child. The heart ache, the let down that comes with life. Sometimes you're let down, sometimes you're the one who lets someone else down. It gets hard to know who you can trust, who you can count on. This song came out of a tough time, and I'm still right in the thick of it. There's some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and it can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have, buried deep in my chest. In another interview Isaac Slade declared that:I kept getting these phone calls from home – tragedy after tragedy... If there is some kind of Person in charge of this planet – are they sleeping? Smoking? Where are they? I just imagined running into God standing on a street corner like Bruce Springsteen, smoking a cigarette, and I'd have it out with Him.In a Reuters article about the album, Slade stated that the lyrics for You Found Me were written in 2007, and that the song asks about the problem of evil, why bad things happen to good people, after some of their friends and family went through very tough times. Many others say that the song represents the reason we cope with things and how abandonment plays a role in everyday life.

C Instrument - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1402236 By Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando. By Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Pop,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. John Fries #985443. Published by John Fries (A0.1402236). TYPE JOHN FRIES IN THE SEARCH BAR TO SEE ALL I HAVE TO OFFER. Thanks, John. The origin of the idea of a yellow ribbon as remembrance may have been the 19th-century practice that some women allegedly had of wearing a yellow ribbon in their hair to signify their devotion to a husband or sweetheart serving in the U.S. Cavalry. The song 'Round Her Neck She Wears a Yeller Ribbon, tracing back centuries but copyrighted by George A. Norton in 1917, and later inspiring the John Wayne movie She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, is a reference to this. The symbol of a yellow ribbon became widely known in civilian life in the 1970s as a reminder that an absent loved one, either in the military or in jail, would be welcomed home on their return. In 2008, Billboard ranked the song as the 37th biggest song of all time in its issue celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Hot 100.

It's well-known and loved and is played across the world in pubs, on stage and at Irish music sessions. It is a great reel for beginners and experts alike.History: The origins of this tune are greatly disputed, with various stories in circulation. ‘Cooley’s’ is often associated with Joe Cooley, a button accordion player from County Galway. One of the most popular explanations of the origins of this tune is from Joe’s brother, Séamus. According to him, the two brothers heard the tune in County Clare being played on a ‘battered old concertina’. Later that night, the two brothers recreated the tune tune as best they could, ‘staying up through the night working and worrying the remembered fragments until finally the reel took shape’. According to Séamus, Joe composed the first section, whilst he composed the second part himself.ISMN: 979-0-9022712-6-4Published by:Thomas Edward Gray MusicABN: 90 127 523 114E: tomedgray@outlook.comIf you have any comments or feel your copyright has been infringed, please contact us.
