This Christmas song is one of the classics. Every time I hear it, I picture the characters from "Peanuts" skating on the ice. This piece has great jazz chords and it helps bring calm to a sometimes hectic time of year. It's a great piece to add to your Christmas program!

This arrangement is for low flute choir - Altos, Basses, and Contra bass.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549201 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 58 pages. Jmsgu3 #3460719. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549201). Instrumentation: 2 piccolos, 3 concert flutes, 1 alto flute, 1 bass flute, 1 cello. Arranged in two antiphonal choirs. Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. Parts: 2 pg ea. Duration: ca. 3:00 Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813588 Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 13 pages. Regis Bookshar #6429837. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813588). Flute Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of the Allegro movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (13 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a Flute Octet, consisting of 8 Flutes, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Purcell's Allegro from his Sonata for Trumpet will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

This charity is for LGBTQ+. ( about the song meaning)Wrabel, the composer, stated the song is about the LGBTQ+ community and all the hardships they face. The song is directed and to encourage and give hope to a trans person who is being treated poorly and ostracized , and to let that perosn struggling know that there is absolutely Nothing wrong with you and there's soemthing wrong with the village.Too many of the trans/LGBTQ+ comminity are struggling , especially in todays political climate. All around the world LGBTQ+ persons are being bullied, discriminated against , attacked, thrown in jail , and even killed with liitle to no laws to protect people.in my own personal life, as a victim of a horrible hate crime where the person involved attmepted to beat me and kill me , unfortuanelty i found out very qucikly how laws even in the USA do not protect me , how many cops ignored me and/or attmepted to make the attack my fault , and how laywers did not want to help and judges either ,and beacsue of the laws i was not protected as a minority and the crime wasn't a hate crime even though the criminals admitted this as the reason of the attack.I was told that this was not a hate crime , unless the criminals made me a victim of S.A., used a car/vehicle , or a gun, or actually ended my life. I also wanted to add , this brutal attack ( recorded on video by the criminals ) which caused such serious bodily harm, had me in the hospital for surgeries, and required months of long and painful rehab and therapy. As a country, as a society, as a planet , we all need to do better, and have to have more protections for such a discriminated group of persons.I did want to add , all the issues happening around the world, and even here in the USA, such as the awful and fascist discrimitory laws in Florida and other states it's no wonder the statistics of LGBTQ+ that contemplate ending their person or even attempting the act .I ask respectfully that every one please go to law makers and demand better laws and treatments of people no matter what community there are of. Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1173842 By Kristen Bell. By Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 30 pages. Lisa L Ochoco #773993. Published by Lisa L Ochoco (A0.1173842). Disney's movie, Frozen is so popular, and the songs are, as usual, very popular too. This song is my favorite, even it's the most heart-breaking. It shows the lives of Elsa and Anna beginning as happy children, who enjoy each other's company. Elsa finds out that her ice powers are potentially harmful to her younger sister and is forced to isolate herself in her bedroom. Anna tries, unsuccessfully, to coax her sister out to play for many years. Then, they receive news that their parents have died at sea in a storm. Lonely and desperately unhappy, Anna knocks on her sister's bedroom door... Elsa? Please, I know you're in there People are asking where you've been They say, Have courage, and I'm trying to I'm right out here for you, just let me in We only have each other It's just you and me What are we gonna do? Do you wanna build a snowman? Scored for low flute choir - 4 altos, 2 basses and contrabass. There is an optional double bass part that doubles contrabass to help fortify it if needed. This arrangement is simple enough for musicians with intermediate playing skills, but it does require good breath support for the many long tones, and it also has a bit of syncopated rhythms. Duration: 4 minutes.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548649 Composed by J. S. Bach, 1685 - 1750. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Easter,Wedding. 34 pages. Jmsgu3 #3407871. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548649). Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring from Bach's Cantata 147, arranged for flute choir: piccolo, 3 flutes, alto flute, bass flute, double contrabass flute (optional) and cello (optional). Score: 19 pg. Parts: 2 pg. Duration with optional repeat: 7:36 Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring Bach composed a cantata called Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Though it is the 32nd cantata, it is listed as BWV 147. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is the 10th movement of the cantata. It was customary to use previous melodies as a basis for a new work - a practice called Cantus prius factus. So, the chorale melody for this piece is a historic tune called Werde munter, mein Gemüthe. Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is customarily performed at weddings, and during major church seasons such as Easter and Christmas. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with the instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer. Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, in addition to his complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development, his sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.

Jmsgu3 #3556989. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549859). Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) from Cantata BWV 140. Duration: ca. 4:00, Score: 10 pages, Program this for church services during the Easter season, weddings, or as a recital encore.Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) also known as: Sleepers Awake Bach composed his church cantata Wachet auf (BWV 140) as part of his second annual cantata cycle covering the entire annual church calendar. It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). This transcription became No. 1 of the Six Schübler Chorales. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Voyager

Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1363828 Composed by Grant Horsley. Classical,Comedy,Contest,Festival. 42 pages. Grant Horsley #948226. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1363828). The Court Jester is intended as a descriptive piece. The Jester was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain guests during royal court. Jesters were also traveling performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events. This piece is in ternary form. The outer sections are to represent the general clowning around and playing pranks as a mischievous Jester does. The middle section by contrast is more lyrical to demonstrate a softer side to the personality, however this quickly transcends back to the final section where jokes, pranks and laughs have their way!It should be performed very briskly and lightly to capture the overall feel of the piece. The range in total is two and a half octaves and it is 4.00 minutes in length- Set at Intermediate level, but lots of areas are less so. The whole score is on here for you to assess suitability Price is for the full score and all parts.A great addition to the repertoire.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.773303 Composed by Various. Arranged by Yoel Epstein. Christian,Folk,Holiday,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 32 pages. Yoel Epstein #3238781. Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773303). I wish you the greatest pleasure playing these arrangements of traditional Thanksgiving songs. Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful of holidays, a holiday filled with joy and music. We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing: Written in 1597 by Dutch composer Adrianus Valerius to celebrate Holland's victory over Spain, the tune was brought to American shores by the early Dutch settlers. Poet Theodore Baker wrote a new version of the lyrics in 1894, which became the standard Thanksgiving version. Over the River and Through the Wood: Lydia Maria Child, an outspoken abolitionist and advocate for Indian rights, wrote this poem in 1845. It was set to music by an unknown composer. Let All Things Now Living (The Ash Grove) This traditional Welsh melody (Llwyn Onn or The Ash Grove in Welsh) has inspired numerous lyricists to write words to the hauntingly beautiful tune. The poem by Katherine Davis, written in 1939, is the text most associated with Thanksgiving. Amazing Grace: Written by reprobate sailor John Newton in 1779. Known for his profanity, vulgarity and venery, he was imprisoned, beaten, and enslaved, before he reformed, and became a leading minister and hymn-writer. This is one of the most popular hymns ever written. This Land is Your Land: A traditional American tune, made famous by folksinger Woody Guthrie in 1940. Guthrie wrote the words as a rebuff to the song God Bless America, the huge hit by songwriter Irving Berlin. As a counter to Berlin's drum-beating patriotism, Guthrie would occasionally add politically charged verses expressing his support for communism. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you need other pieces of Americana for your ensemble, you might find them in Best-Loved American Folksongs, in two volumes, available here (volume 1) and here (volume 2). There are also arrangements of Battle Hymn of the Republic, Stars and Stripes Forever, America the Beautiful, and The Star-Spangled Banner. You can see them all and more at my composer page. I have also arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa. If you need arrangements of any of these songs for special combinations of instruments, feel free to contact me at yoelepst@gmail.com, and I will try to accommodate.
