Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1267939 By Christina Bond. By Christina Bond. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Christina Bond #860491. Published by Christina Bond (A0.1267939). ‘The Three Sisters’ is inspired by the beautiful Australian landmark of the same name, located in the beautiful Blue Mountains in New South Wales. This piano piece echoes the vastness and beauty of this iconic landscape. Aboriginal dream-time legend tells of three sisters, 'Meehni', 'Wimlah', and 'Gunnedoo,' who were revered members of the Katoomba tribe. The three sisters dared to fall in love with three brothers from the neighbouring Nepean tribe, despite their union being forbidden. The witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe intervenes to protect the sisters by turning them into stone, preserving them for eternity. The music transports listeners to the heart of this beautiful place. Perhaps you will hear the longing and melancholy of the sisters, locked in their magnificent rock formation, standing tall as a testament to their love and the enduring consequences of a long-forgotten battle.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1393741 Composed by Francisco Ribeiro. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 10 pages. Francisco Ribeiro #977211. Published by Francisco Ribeiro (A0.1393741). A minimalist solo piano work, inspired by Vicky Chow's 2016 performance on Roulette Intermedium (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpjbf6lc2FY&ab_channel=VickyChow). The title translates to Inconsequences.A note on the piece:Could something be inconsequential? Is it possible, objectively, to materialize something truly insignificant? Will it always depend on different perspectives? In this work, I did not attempt to answer these questions but rather to present two ways of looking at this curious enigma that reach similar conclusions: the repetition of something weak and possibly uninteresting results in a greater appreciation for it, gradually adding emotional value that was initially simple and raw. In other words, inconsequence is ephemeral, quickly shedding its prefix.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1383996 Composed by David Fraser. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 178 pages. David Fraser #968350. Published by David Fraser (A0.1383996). This volume contains five solo piano pieces expertly crafted and meticulously edited for accuracy. Advanced pianists will welcome the technical challenges and heights of musicality these works require. Music terminology for â??Le Cygne noirâ?? and â??L'océanâ?? are in French, with regard to the dedications of these pieces. All other works use conventional music terminology in Italian. 178 pages. ISMN 979-0-800277-00-9.David Fraser wrote the first 41 measures of â??Rhapsody No. 1â?? in 1997 and subsequently completed this piece and all other works in this volume over the course of six months in 2019. When playing the original 41 measures of â??Rhapsody No. 1â?? in 2019, Fraser noted that the music had some resemblance to works by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This encouraged Fraser to compose the remainder of this piece in a manner reminiscent of Rachmaninoff and, consequently, author a suite of solo piano pieces as homages to some of his favorite composers. In Rachmaninoffâ??s famous â??Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43â??, variation 18, the composer uses an upside-down inversion of a small melody by Paganini. Similarly, Fraser uses a backwards inversion of a small melody from Rachmaninoffâ??s variation for the Rhapsodyâ??s â??Adagioâ? section, which starts on Page 3.Le Cynge noir {The Black Swan} is the second piece Fraser authored, dedicated to his beloved piano composer, Maurice Ravel. In this piece, Fraser wrote in his own style while evoking images such as a swan gliding on a lake, peering at its reflection in the water, and taking flight into the clouds with its wings rustling in the wind. Fraser gleaned inspiration for this piece from Ravelâ??s song for voice and piano â??Histoires naturelles - Le cygneâ??, set to a poem by Jules Renard. In addition, Fraser alternates between the keys of C-sharp major and A major as a depiction of the magical swanâ??s internal conflict in choosing to exist as a black or white swan.Fraserâ??s third composition is â??Sonata No.1 Gothicâ??, dedicated to Sergei Prokofiev, not as a representation of this genre of music, but in form. Specifically, Fraser uses a similar structure in Movement 1, starting at Measure 72 marked â??più mosso e con abbandonoâ?, to the notoriously difficult â??colossaleâ? section of Prokofievâ??s â??Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 16â??, Movement 1. The sonataâ??s Movement 3 also follows a structure parallel to Movement 4 of Prokofievâ??s aforementioned piano concerto, employing fiendishly challenging syncopated jumps in both hands. Written in ternary form, Movements 1 and 3 of Fraserâ??s sonata are in C minor; Movement 2 is in E-flat minor, instead of the expected relative or dominant key. This work has explosive sentiments of rage that elicit a sense of immensity and darkness, touching on the macabre yet maintaining an alluring nature. The fourth piece of this suite, â??L'océan {The Ocean}â?? dedicated to Claude Debussy, uses whole-tone scales throughout as lyrical motifs. The composition unfolds with the allusion of the sun glimmering on ocean waves, followed by the playfulness of eddies and gusts of wind. These themes merge into one another as the wind increases in ferocity, culminating in the start of a storm with sudden strikes of lightning preceded by the reverberation of thunder. The pitter-patter of rain on the water steadily evolves into a full tempest that engulfs the middle section of the piece. As the storm subsides and the ocean calms, night has fallen and the twinkling of stars in the firmament are reflecting upon the water. The piece ends with the return of the opening theme as the sun swiftly rises above the ocean on the horizon.Prelude No. 1 L'adieu {The Farewell} offers rich and lush harmonies with an enticing melody. This piece was written in memoriam to Fraser's mother.

Specifically, Rachmaninoff’s piece starting with the D-flat of beat one in measure 9 going backwards to measure 8 to the C, B-flat, A-flat and B-flat of the fourth beat is replicated in Fraser’s piece in the pickup to beat three through beat four of measure 10, however with rhythmic changes. In addition, there are some harmonic similarities between Rachmaninoff and Fraser’s music. This is the full version of the Rhapsody which is the first piece from 'Hommages: Suite pour le Piano'. 45 pages. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281191 Composed by Wanda Landowska. Arranged by Zellev. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Folk,New Age. Score. 7 pages. Zellev Music #872533. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1281191). Key Signature: Fâ?¯ minorTime Signature: 3/4Tempo: Allegro vivace (143)Difficulty: AdvancedWanda Landowska (July 5, 1879 - August 16, 1959) was a Polish harpsichordist and composer who led the revival of the popularity of the harpsichord in the early 1900s. She was one of the earliest advocates and scholars on historically informed performance practices, and she made the first-ever recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations on the harpsichord.Landowska was born in Warsaw in 1879 and started playing the piano when she was four years old. As a child, she studied with Jan KleczyÅ?ski and then Aleksander Michalowski. Kleczynski noticed in her lessons that she had an affinity for older Baroque music, and he didn't want to impose his sensibilities onto the already apparent musical prodigy. Consequently, her mother decided that Kleczynski was too lenient of a teacher and sent her to study with the stricter Michalowski, who was a Chopin specialist. When she was 16 years old, Landowska moved to Berlin to study composition with Heinrich Urban, but was discouraged by the rigid curriculum. However, while in Berlin she composed songs and orchestral works, and she met her future husband, Henry Lew. In 1900, the young couple moved to Paris and got married. There she became associated with the Schola Cantorum, and was introduced to Vincent D'Indy, Albert Schweitzer, and other prominent performers and musicologists of the era.Throughout the next ten years, Landowska toured Europe and Russia, and dedicated herself to researching the authentic performance practices of older music. Her husband assisted her in this research, and they often utilized libraries that they encountered while touring. She concluded that it's more appropriate to play Baroque keyboard music on the harpsichord rather than on the piano. By 1909, Landowska and her husband published the book Musique Ancienne, which was the culmination of all of their research regarding the performance practices of Baroque music. She also started teaching harpsichord classes in 1913 at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.Ten years later, Landowska made her debut in the United States, performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Stokowski. Also in 1923, she performed in the world premiere of Manuel de Falla's El retablo de maese Pedro, where she met Francis Poulenc and asked him to write a harpsichord concerto for her. She also commissioned a concerto from Falla in 1925, which would prove to be a modern masterpiece. In 1929, Landowska performed the premiere of Poulenc's Concert champêtre in Paris. By this time, she had settled in a town north of Paris, and was teaching from her school L'Ã?cole de Musique Ancienne, which she established in 1925. She offered private and group courses and an annual summer concert series that was very popular. Landowska taught and performed in this capacity until 1940, when she had to abandon the school, her extensive library, and her home because of World War II. With the assistance of her student Denise Restout, she escaped to Portugal and then sailed to the United States, and eventually settled in Lakeville, Connecticut. She continued to perform and teach in the U.S., and at the age of 70 she recorded the complete Well-Tempered Clavier, which was highly acclaimed. Landowska was 80 years old when she passed away in Lakeville in 1959.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.785688 Composed by F Chopin. Arranged by Grant Horsley. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score. 5 pages. Grant Horsley #5297025. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.785688). Chopin- Nocturne (Posthumous) piano solo simplified version IntermediateThis is a very famous Nocturne- used at many concerts and recitals. This version originally in C sharp minor has been carefully arranged into C minor. Some large stretches have been avoided as has big chords. The right hand ornamental flourishes on the last two pages (as well as others) have been written rhythmically as it is easier to match and count with the left hand- as a consequence they have been adapted, but take very little away from the original. The flourishes should be played with plenty of rubato. The piece has been placed at the top end of Intermediate level. It is a wonderful piece for control of tone, romantic style, and as a repertoire piece. The youtube link has the full score to enable you to assess suitability.

Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1096204). Score: 4 pages. Duration: 2:27. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Solo Piano. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887255 Composed by Charles-Louis Hanon. Arranged by Martin Woodward. Instructional. Score. 37 pages. Martin Woodward #6513221. Published by Martin Woodward (A0.887255). Hanon Piano / Keyboard Exercises 1 - 30Condensed and Simplified for Beginners Easy ReadingIn this short book you will find condensed and simplified versions of the Hanon piano finger exercises 1 - 30 as well as the major, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales in every key (two octaves). What is Hanon? The ‘Hanon Virtuoso Pianist’ is a collection of piano finger exercises designed to give equal strength, agility and flexibility to all five fingers of both hands. Written by Charles-Louis Hanon sometime in the 1800s, these exercises without doubt have become one of the most widely used techniques by today’s pianists. In my opinion these are the best finger exercises available. One really great thing about these exercises is that they are applicable to both absolute beginners and advanced players alike, particularly as the reading ability required is minimal. Whatever your ability, these exercises will help improve your technique and finger strength. Having been written well over 100 years ago, the original work is now in the public domain and therefore digital copies can be acquired free of charge on the internet. However, most of these are very poor quality and the instructions are mainly in French or Russian - neither of which work too well for me! For the full version I personally recommend the ‘Alfred’ Edition edited by Allan Small which is clear and has instructions in English. So why do I need this book? The whole point is to make it easy to read and to reduce page turns - less is more! In the full version the first 30 exercises take up fifty pages whereas here there are three exercises per page for the first 20, then two per page for the next 10, reducing the fifty pages to just twelve. I initially produced this for my own use only but figured that others may like to take advantage of what I’ve done. Does this mean that the print is just smaller? No, not at all. If you are familiar with these exercises you will know that they are repeated patterns which ascend and descend for two octaves diatonically. To condense and simplify them and consequently eliminate an enormous amount of page turns I have shown: the all-important fingering on the first pattern (as per the original)then the repeated second patternthen ‘changeover’ patterns between ascending and descending - which are sometimes slightly differentthen finally the last pattern of each exercise which again is often very slightly different. I have also written them two octaves apart (for easy reading) and only shown them for one octave instead of two. In practice they should be played one octave apart and ultimately be practiced for two octaves. You can print out any or all the pages as required (the link for the pdf printable version is given at the end of the book). Please see: https://learn-keyboard.co.uk/hanon.html

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033214 Composed by Mark Wilson. Contemporary. Score. 27 pages. Mark Wilson #6268685. Published by Mark Wilson (A0.1033214). When my friend, the composer and pianist Neil Crossland, asked me to write a work for him to perform, he requested that I give the piece a distinctly Scottish flavour. Perhaps as a consequence, hailing from Scotland as I do, the resulting work is distinctly autobiographical in nature. This is a challenging piece, aimed at advanced players. The four movements reflect the preoccupations of four stages of (my) life as seen in hindsight. The word dimensions in the piece's title refers to facets of my own character. The first movement, Complications, represents the self-image of the young. The music is adventurous and academic, full of the potential of a life yet to be lived and the earnest self obsession of youth. The second movement, Romance, is the search for love, though seen through the lens of memory and therefore touched with sadness. The third, Transience, shows the uncertainties of middle age, so full of frustration and of nostalgia. This movement contains my setting of the Jacobian poem Will Ye No Come Back Again?. The last movement, Revelry, blows away the uncertainties of the third movement with the driving energy of a Scottish reel. Perhaps increasing age brings a certain perspective; what does it matter if you have more past than future? Just get up and dance and let Dr. Music sweep your cares away. The piece features a musical fragment (first heard in bar 26 of the first movement) which has been the cause of much amusement between Neil Crossland and myself over the years. Neil has been composing music since his teens but the art has only much more recently become a big part of my life. However, musical ideas have always had a tendency to come into my head and, several years ago, I decided to play these two bars to Neil. Every so often, in the years that followed, he would teasingly ask me how my new piece was coming on, knowing full well that I'd have to admit that my magnum opus was still only two bars long! By setting the melodic fragment at the heart of this composition I have finally ensured that he can tease me about it no longer. More importantly, I hope that Neil enjoys our little in-joke.The audio file for this work is beautifully performed by the work's dedicatee, Neil Crossland.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938022 Composed by Liz Nedela. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score. 12 pages. Liz Nedela #6479507. Published by Liz Nedela (A0.938022). This Piano Solo was composed for Nina, who is a college freshman and plays advanced music. Nina requested a Nocturne in the Phrygian mode that would resemble the style of Chopin. Her favorite composer is Chopin, and loves his nocturnes. She has written a poem about Chopin. Nina began her first year of college during the pandemic, and is consequently a virtual student. Her major is Bio-Engineering. During high school, she has accompanied choirs and solo- ensemble festivals, participated in many solo piano events, and completed all the requirements of the OMTA syllabus. Because she is attending college virtually and is living with her family locally, she continues to study piano with her long-time OMTA piano teacher. Nina also has earned a black belt in Karate; and she likes skiing and fashion. The piece is part of a collaboration between composers and students. It is a project of the Oregon Music Teachers Association and the Cascadia Composers chapter of NACUSA (National Association of Composers USA). The annual concert, titled In Good Hands, features original compositions that are chosen by OMTA teachers for their students. In 2021, the project includes individualized collaboration where composers wrote for specific students. The composers met with the students, and together they decided on a composition written according to the requests of the student.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1000001 By ABBA. By Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Arranged by Steve Levitt. Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Steve Levitt Music #6198993. Published by Steve Levitt Music (A0.1000001). These parts are taken from a series of transcriptions created for use in a Covers Band, consequently the lyric, melody line is not included within it. The sheets are intended to represent the specific instrument part played on the original track. Note that this arrangement originally employed 2 keyboards; one to cover the synth base line, the other the electric piano. The original track fades out – our band would cut out on the first chord of Bar 104, leaving the singer to finish that phrase without backing.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533319 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343097. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533319). This charming piano solo was first performed by its dedicatee, Jacques Leguerney’s good friend and muse Thérèse Cahen (1897-1944), in the Salle Debussy-Pleyel. They met around 1925. Cahen was the first person outside of his family to encourage his musical aspirations. For years, they met every Saturday to read through and discuss his music. She not only helped him with piano and harmony, but also performed his early chamber works, recruiting from her entourage to help him find high level interpreters for his music. Other early Leguerney works that she premiered included the Trio pour violon, violoncello et piano; the Sonatine pour flûte et piano; and two vocal chamber works presented by the Société Musicale Indépendente (S. M. I.), Epitaphe guerrière and Clair de lune for voice, flute and piano. Their friendship lasted until Cahen was deported from Paris on July 31, 1944, only a few weeks prior to the Liberation of Paris. Working with the Center of the Union Générale des Israélites de France in Saint-Mandé (a Parisian suburb), Thérèse Cahen had dedicated herself to the care of children of deported French parents. She left Paris with these children in the Convoy 77, and was taken to the gas chamber of Auschwitz. She left a letter for him, along with her grand piano, which remained in his apartment until his death. My dear Jacques,It is impossible to write on this little page how much I have appreciated your kindness toward me for years and years, and how much happiness this has given me: there have been thousands of Saturdays, and I thought of them every day of the week. Probably you didn’t realize the influence you have had on me: it seems that my whole personality, my way of thinking and feeling has been transformed by you; it is a very deep imprint. If I am taken and in consequence you read this letter, tell yourself that I will continue to count the Saturdays in order to have an idea of the number of songs composed during my absence and that I will be delighted to hear them when I return. If I don’t return, I definitely want you to keep my piano but I don’t think it will happen and I say that I will see you soon.Very tenderly,ThérèsePS Speaking of tenderness, I think with emotion about the little passage concerning tenderness in your latest song.[La Fontaine d’Hélène]

Piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19894 Piano piece in two movements based on a poem by Friedrich Hölderlin. Composed by Eduard Puetz. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 8 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19894. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19894). Eduard Pütz was inspired to write this piano piece by the poem 'Hälfte des Lebens' by Friedrich Hölderlin. In this composition, the two thoughts of the fullness of life (youth) and the expectation of death (age) provoke contrasting musical emotions and structures. Consequently, the two-movement structure of the composition is caused by the opposing nature of Hölderlin's two verses. The music carries great intensity and expressiveness, yet is never merely illustrative or programme music. An important contribution to 20th-century piano music.
